I love this shoe! If you are looking for light training shoe that subscribes to the mantra "less is more" this is the shoe for you. Switched with Mizuno which caused problems with my calves and could not be happier.

This shoe has fallen far from 902 & 903. The new upper is good in theory but terrible in fit. All the overlays have stitching that digs into my feet. Please bring back the 903.

This shoe has moderate cushioning and provides a good road feel (relatively speaking). It also provides some support for overpronators and/or heavier runners but not too much that you feel you have an arch support in your shoe. I'm 200lbs. and feel I can use them for my long training runs (~2 hours).

The 903 was perhaps my favorite shoe ever, and how I rate this shoe reflects that. The 904 has a narrower outsole in the forefoot, and has a more tapered forefoot, so a less roomy toebox. I found it narrow for a 2E. The shoe feels stiffer overall, and chafes a bit due so some of the piping around the ankle and top of the tongue. I like the firmer feel to the forefoot, which my simply be due to a firmer insole, but I don't like the stiffer feel at the instep and a slightly higher heel (again, this may simply be due to a higher quality insole that is less mushy than its predecessor.
I really like the new sewn-in tongue design -- who needs a tongue that can shift to the side as you run? This one definitely won't.
But, the 903 disappeared under my foot as soon as I put it on. I ran for more than one year in my last pair (I'm a very efficient, 160 pound runner). The 905 feels stiff in comparison. But it still beats other shoes in this category. I wish New Balance would give us

I have done two nice effort 10 milers with this shoe.
This is rather a cushioned shoe, but it is not squashy. The forefoot to heel proportion of the cushioning is well balanced and allows for a nice mid foot (sweet spot) stride. Running downhill, it does not push you too much and uphill running gives a nice push off. The fit is comfortably snug because of a unique shoe tongue, which is connected on the inside but open on the outside, and gives added support when needed. Even the shoelaces are different and keep the tension where you set it. This shoe is built on a rather large last but does not make it uncomfortable. Overall, a nice trainer, responsive and yellow.

Never before has a New Balance shoe failed me as badly as the 905. I've been running in 902/903/904 and loved them. But the 905 lacks the cushioning of its predecessors. It's hard to get into and out of thanks to a tongue sewn to one side. Plastic and stitching lumps also rub painfully. It seems to have a different last because the overall fit is very different from its ancestors. I'm buying all the endangered 904s I can find.

Great Shoe - - This is the answer for people who can train in a really lihgt shoe but also want to race in it. If you are a larger runner then this is your answere to racing flats! Big improvement over the 904 that really was useless as a race shoe and was too heavy to be a lightweight trainer.

I was disappointed, left them in the window all day....but they didn't glow in the dark. They do reflect light very well.
Have not gone over 17 in them yet...but like them so far.

Seriously - give us a shoe color that is not going to make us want to run fast just to escape the hecklers.
