Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I have been using the 99x series of shoe from New Balance for at least 10 years. Lately my over pronation seems to have gotten worse. About three months ago I bought two pairs of 993's in order to rotate them. Very quickly the outer edge of the heel on my left foot was severely worn down. I did some research and I found out that my problem was over pronation. I did some further research and I found out that I need motion control plus shoes and I ordered a pair of NB 1012's.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: This review will sound like I'm whining a little but I'm sure others will back me up on this. I understand that motion control shoes are tricky when it comes to motion control AND cushioning. For years and years I have tried EVERY motion control shoe from EVERY manufactuer known to the running industry. I have only ever found one brand ( I won't mention for the sake of this review) that I absolutely loved! Bad news is, up until recently, they have discontinued that model so I was back to square one searching...again. I was NEVER a fan of New Balance shoes because they had sold "bricks" for motion control shoes over the years. After researching and trying on different brands at our local running store, the only shoe remotely satisfying me by the fit (with orthotics) was the NB 1012. I was very hesitant to buy them because of bad luck with NB in the past. To make a long story short....THANK YOU NB for finally coming through with the PERFECT motion control shoe!!!! Yes, they're very heavy but I knew that going into the store...probably the heaviest shoe ever but I'll tell you what....it feels like you're running on air!!!! Even if these shoes weighed one pound a piece, I'd still would have bought them!!!!! Expensive....YES!!!!! Worth it? Every penny!!!!! I'm 6 ft and 180 pounds just as a reference!
Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I'm 5'10, 230 lbs, with plantar fasciitis. The shoe has been immensely helpful in assisting me to recover from the condition. Also, not a bad running shoe at all - good cushioning and comfortable. Pros

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: Year ago I found out that I had diabetes and was told that I needed to exercise and lose weight (65 lbs overweight). I'm 60 years old so I had a long ways to go. I did research on the internet and was forunately lead to Road Runner Sports. I'm flat footed, over pronate and had several bouts with plantar Fasciitis. I finally choose NB 1012 and for the last 6 months I'm making process in my workout. The shoes were great. The toe box had plently of room and yet the heel was snug. However, I was still having some foot and leg pains when walking, so I tried numberous insoles without success. I wrote Road Runner Sports and they suggested Road Runner Sports Support insoles. I said ok let's give them a try. When I received them I thought no way these would work, but I was very wrong. My journey was now complete, I have no foot or leg pains, losing weight and enjoying working out. Thanks Road Runner Sports!

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: On my second pair of these and love them. I'm a 220 pound runner with feet like Fred Flintstone and these are the most comfortable shoe's i've owned since taking up running three years ago. And that includes the Brooks Beast. I log about 15 to 20 miles a week and one pair has gotten me by for almost a year.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I'm a "motion control +" runner. I have been running in Brook's Beast for several years after giving up on Asics Evolution (not enough support). When I pumped up the milage for a race, though, the Brooks just weren't cutting it. I decided to give the NB 1012 a try and have been very pleased. Foot and ankle pain went away. Seem to be very solid. Run a little large, but about the same as Brooks.
Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I am giving the NB 1012 a try after having switched from the Brooks Beast after Brooks pulled the "Honey I shrank the toebox" trick. These NB 1012 are very comfortable, with a roomy toebox. Because of a run-in with plantar fasciitus, I use a motion control shoe with Sorbothane graphite arch supports to limit over-pronation. These shoes work well so far with the Sorbothane insoles. They are made in the USA by the way, and I think the workers did a quality job. Pros

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: 200+ LB w/very flat feet! Arches hurt with the wrong shoe during boot camp class. But not with these! First time to try NB and so far I am very pleased!

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I had been wearing less expensive shoes, but developed problem with posterior tibialis tendon in ankle. After a week of wearing these shoes, tendon seems to be less bothersome... good support, but doesn't have as much "bounce" as the old shoes, but willing to tradeoff stabilty and cushioning for "bounce"

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: Only had them a couple weeks and so far so good. I am a heavy pronator and need foot orthotics to prevent knee pain(4 knee scopes, 1 ACL reconstruction, missing most of my medial meniscus). I'm 6'4, 220 llbs and they seem to handle the load well. I ordered the d width and the toe box is plenty wide. The shoe is comfortable and does not seem too heavy. Have owned other new balance motion control and I also recommend these.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I train 30-40 miles per week through out the year. I am 6' 8" 215 pounds. These shoes have provided me pain free and injury free miles for the last eleven years. When I find a sale I stock up. One time I had six pairs!

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I use the shoes for walking. The color is nice but the weight and lack of cushion is the deal breaker. However keeping this pair to do yard work in.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I am a big, heavy guy. I look for a shoe with lots of cushion in the heel and under the sole of the foot. I usually end up with a Motion Control shoe. I like this shoe because it is very comfortable and provides cushioning and support. I use them in the gym and also use them to walk in and work in. The toe box is nice and wide and the shoe looks like it is well made. I hope they last a while. They are not cheap, but then I find that I usually get what I pay for.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: after the n/b 1010 was discontinued i've long to find a replacement. the 1012 has proven to be 4 star replacement.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I am an overpronator with very flat feet, and this has been a great shoe to deal with theses issues. This is the second pair that I have bought. I probably used the first pair for too long, and it became a little brittle and uncomfortable near the end. But once I received the new pair, comfort was not a problem. The shoe provides great cushioning and support.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: It's difficult for me to find a shoe that fits right and has the right combination of support and cushioning. I have fairly bad overpronation problems normally.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: Changed to this NB shoe series with the 1011 when Brooks Beast went to a smaller toe box that caused foot & toe problems. I wore every version of the Beast from its inception but I am very happy with this NB Motion Control Plus shoe 1012.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: This is the best shoe I have worn so far. I have a horrible case of flat feet and these are the best I have worn I don't even need my inserts. Great arch support, comfort, and toe space. If you got flat feet you should try these.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1012 Running Shoe: I have flat feet and a bigger guy (6'1" 220 lbs) so I am always looking for a good running shoe to compensate with my pronation. I bought the 1012 when the pair of 1011's I had wore out. The 1011 is a great shoe, by the way. These 1012's are comfortable and when combined with a RRS Wedge insole really help avoid the problems associated with running with bad arches (shin splints, sore knees, etc). Only thing to remember is that with an aftermarket insole you will need to wear thinner socks. I like to wear the thinnest running sock anyway, so not a problem with me. Another thing they could do is come in a couple more color combinations. The blue/white/black looks good, but others would be cool.
