            Comments about Mens New Balance 840 Running Shoe:

            Long time runner wearing NB878 thru NB883.
            I have wide forefoot & high arch.
            I am a typical high arch, no pronantion runner.
            The arches in these shoes have progressively gotten flatter with each model update.
            I had to buy 1 size larger than usual to get the same width in the forefoot. The rest of the shoe is too big & loose.
            I usually run 50 to 60 miles per week but these shoes have caused great knee pain & I am only able to run half that far.
            I long for the days of the 878 thru 882.
            Hopefully the next update will correct this problem. I am looking for another shoe, but haven't had any luck so far.

              This is a good shoe but will hold final judgement until I run through my second pair. Width is true but found length a tad short so the half size up recommendation is correct. My next order will be up a half size. Had metatarsil surgery one year ago. Was running in 883 but they are gone so went to 840 the 883 replacement. I like the 840 better but don't like the shiny black toe. However my surgery foot feels better in the 840 than the 883. Hopefully the half size up will be even better. I'm 6', 190 so I work shoes hard, about 25-30 miles/week.

              Great out of the box, but cushioning gave out after only a few of months. I average 15-18 miles a week.
