Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: Have been running on Nike Vomero since 2006 but they finally lost me. I have a narrow foot and this shoe is awesome! It is just as soft as the Vomero, but fits my foot like a glove. First run was 6 miles and they were perfect. Since they come in widths, you should have no problem finding the right size. The sizing is similar to Nike. I wore 11.5 in the Nike and wear an 11.5 in these, which is 1 size larger than normal street shoes.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I have trained for and completed three marathons in the 1080s over the last 18 months....it has been a great shoe for me (6'&175lbs)as it provides solid support, comfort and cushioning. The down side has always been the weight and how quickly the shoes go soft.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: Me: 6-1, 175 pounds, male, 25 miles per week, plus a few triathlons and 5Ks (~ 20 minutes) and 1 marathon (3 hours 45 minutes)per year.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: New Balance took a good, heavy runner's shoe and turned it into a bedroom slipper. I've worn the 1080 or previous versions for 4 years and it was a solid, well cushioned shoe with proper stability for heavy runners. This V2 version is soft, flimsy and offers little support for a heavy runner. Stay away from the 1080v2 if you are truly a heavy runner.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I am a marathon runner doing mid 30 miles per week on average. Since the NB878's that I have been running in for several years are no longer available, I followed the NB lineage to the 1080's. The 1080 does not have as much conditioning as the 878, Also, I am a heel-to-toe runner and am having trouble with the sole of the shoe hitting hard and there is not enough cushioning to absorb the impact. The sizing is not even close. I wear size 13 and the 13's that I purchased were brutally tight and I had to upsize to 14 which were too big and I had to install inserts. All in all, not a positive experience. However, if you run flat footed or on your soles more, these shoes should be fine. I may use them on the track for speed work. I think they will be fine for that but I would never recommend these shoes for distance running.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I have a high arch and buy wide shoes to compensate. New Balance is the only brand that I can get to find comfortably. The 1080v2 is my sixth pair of NB in the past three years and definitely the best. I am a large runner (6'3", 210 lbs.) who runs on roads and the cushion is fine. They felt broken in on the second run. Hopefully they will last as long as my last pair (860v2).

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: Not sure why NB called this the 1080, it is a much different shoe. If the offset change is for stability call it a stability shoe not a neutral shoe. Bottom line for me, is the shoe did not work. after 5 years with the 1064s and 1080s, I tried the 1080v2, and ended up with calf problems. Shoe is "prettier" than the old 1080, but for this 30-40 mile per week runner, it does not work. I am a heavier runner (175#) can't imagine doing a marathon in these. I have run several marathons in the old 1080s with no problems at all.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: New Balance is the only Company I use for running footwear. I have tried many others but your shoes are the best.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: As a neutral plus, the NB 1080V2 has the right amount of plus. Cushioned, but not overly cushioned. It is very light so it feels light and fast. From heel step down to toe off it's quick. Not hard at impact and also not soft. It rolls through each stride. The upper is comfortable with a soft yet thin feel. Not cheap then, but performance thin. This replaces the Asics Nimbus as a faster, lighter, and less soft/plus neutral shoe that I feel protected in, but not slowed down by. The heel to toe drop is just right. The NB 890V2 was too little of a drop/minimalist and some of the more traditional Brooks and Asics I've been running in with 10-12 mm drops have been too heel soft/heavy. Closest next favorite shoes to this for me are the Asics Nimbus 13/14, Asics Blur33, Brooks Defyance 5.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: Weight 220lbs 5'11'' normal arch and orthics wearer. I tried these on in running shop on the treadmill and they seemed a bit light. After breaking them in on short runs, it seemed to be alright. On runs more than 10K my arch and achilles started hurting. I would not recommend this shoe for larger runners, much too soft and little support.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I've been running in the New Balance Cushioning+ shoes for years (3 pairs of 1063, 1 pair of 1064, 1 pair of 1080, 1 pair of 1080v2). The extra room in the toe box is nice for the 1080s and 1080v2s. Cushioning is great like always. Really need to go up at least 1/2 a size. I still have my old 1063 that I bust out when I go for a run around the lake (very muddy) and the 13Ms fit me perfect. My 1064s are still in great shape (unfortunately) b/c they are size 13Ms and they feel like 12Ms (very small). Since the 1064 I've been buying 14M and the fit is perfect again like the old 1063 size 13M. Nice to see NB start to make some cool looking cushioning+ shoes.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I have a wide foot and require a 4E. New Balance consistently offers shoes for those of use with wide feet. (Thank you, New Balance.) I put these on and ran a 5K with my first run. I didn't even think of the shoes at all during the run. They felt as though they were a pair that were well "worn in" already. I teetered whether or not to indicate that the shoe was perhaps a half size too small. These fit me nearly perfect. However, I know that most shoes I purchased in size 12 with a width of 4E have a little more room ahead of my toes.

Best Uses Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I agree with a previous post that this shoe lacks in forefoot cushioning. When compared to other shoes in this category (Nimbus, Vomero, Triumph), the cushioning up front is sub-par. The lower drop makes this shoe fairly quick and the lighter weight is great, but does it come at a cost? The balls of my feet say yes. I now keep this shoe for shorter runs only.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1080v2 Running Shoe: I have only one gripe: the toe box is wide, and I need that, but right where the laces start, it gets narrow. That means it's still too tight, even though there is too much room in the toe box.
