Comments about Womens New Balance 1340 Running Shoe:

Since I had worn 1012s for a long while and these are the predecessors, I was hoping they would be much the same. Alas, they aren't. I run mileage so would be able to go long with my 1012s no problem. The 1340 seems to be smaller in the toebox and my toes get numb. Wish you hadn't changed them NB!

Comments about Womens New Balance 1340 Running Shoe:

I've been wearing the 1200 series since the 1220. What happened to the cushioning in the tongue. I was sitting in a movie for heaven's sake and it was bothering me. I didn't have it tied too tight either. Just not as comfortable as my previous New Balance shoes. I will most likely be returning them.

Comments about Womens New Balance 1340 Running Shoe:

Why change a good shoe? I've worn the NB 1011-1012's for years with no problems. Ordered the 1340's and whoa, shoes seems a half size smaller and toe box isn't as wide as it used to be.

Comments about Womens New Balance 1340 Running Shoe:

I have worn the NB 1012 for several years. I have bunions and wide flat feet. I loved the 1012. This shoe was to replace the 1012 but it is nothing like it. It is narrower so maybe if I had bought the wide the fit may have been better (although I used the fit guide on NB website which stated it would fit the same as 1012). After a 3 mile run my left battled hamstring, shin and arch pain. My right battled knee pain. I have never had these pains with the 1012's. The fit is also off. They have a breathable mesh on the toes but the strap hits my foot wrong so it pushes my pinky toe out. I will be returning this shoe. The one nice thing I could say is the color is cute.

      Good with Orthotics

Comments about Womens New Balance 1340 Running Shoe:

I tried to find a good pair of everyday shoes that worked with my prescription orthotics. I did not want them to squeeze my feet or "squeak" when I walked. I went thru 3 different brands before hearing about the NB 1340 running shoes. I tried them thinking I would most likely send them back too. I was wrong. I like them enough that I bought a second pair. I have worn them with my orthotics and they are very comfortable. I pulled the inserts that come with the shoe out and used just my inserts and that was fine. I put their insert back in and then placed mine on top. That is how I wear them now. I also tried them without my inserts and used just theirs. That was even comfortable. I can't speak as to how long they will last - as they are new to me. But I can say that my feel do not hurt all day long in these shoes. I have wide, flat feet with plantar fasciitis & tarsal tunnel in both. Not fun. So far these shoes are working out for me.

The best NB shoes I've ever owned

Comments about Womens New Balance 1340 Running Shoe:

I have really low arches. In the past, I've owned the NB 991's, and most recently owned the 1012. I found the 991's to be heavy, and the 1012 to be clunky looking (not to mention, made me look like an old lady). This shoe is light and gives a good amount of support to my over protonation. I did replace the insole, as the insole by itself was not enough to support my low arches... but all in all this has been a great go-to shoe for walking, gym workouts, etc. If they make this same shoe again next year, I'll be getting two pair just like this last time around.
