Great For Me - Wears Quickly

I bought these initially to run Tough Mudder, and to see how a minimalist shoe would feel. I have always been a runner, and have had issues with knee pain and shin splints, so I was concerned about stepping away from more traditional shoes. Right off the bat the shoes were extremely comfortable. The big toe box keeps your toes from getting all jammed up, and a near-flat sole keeps them from getting stuffed up in there anyway. You run a lot more flat-footed/mid-sole on these than on typical shoes. The toes feel like they have room, which is nice. Once I ran about 10-12 miles on the shoes, getting used to a new stride, all of my aches and pains disappeared. I usually ran with a stability shoe to correct supination, but maybe I was overcompensating. In any case, I haven't had any leg problems at all since switching to these shoes. Well, on two occasions in two years I did tweak my calf muscle, which is a risk with minimalist shoes. Otherwise excellent. I've run two Tough Mudders in these shoes, and will be doing another in 2015. They are excellent for this as they are lightweight, have good traction, and drain quickly (although they also will get your feet good and soaked if it's wet out, even just a little dew). The only trouble I ran into was with larger gravel, which you can really feel through the thin soles. Not a huge deal though. I train almost exclusively on roads/pavement (60-70 miles per month), and the one complaint I have is that the soles wear too quickly. I'll get 180-200 miles out of a pair before the heels wear all wonky (which stresses the knees). Part of this is because I scuff my heels a bit, but they could be a bit tougher. So, I end up buying 3 or 4 pairs per year which can get a bit steep. However, I will continue to buy these as long as NB keeps making them. All-in-all, I have never been as pleased with a shoe as I am with these. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to ease into minimalist shoes, and/or is considering mud runs.

Running Mudder

Could be the shoe for you.

I've been waiting to wrtie a review on this shoe because I wanted to log atleast 100 miles on it. I figured 100 miles should show any imperfections or quirks, I'll be at 200 miles by the end of the week and I have nothing to complain about. I have used this shoe on paved roads, dirt trails and the old style roads that have rocks in the asphalt, the latter being the most uncomfortable yet tolerable. When I got this shoe, I had to change my running style from heel striker to a fore foot striker because there is no support in the sole of this shoe. Changing to a fore foot striking style takes sometime to get used to and NB suggests to ease into this shoe and I agree. If you're not already a fore foot striker, I would not go more than 2-3 miles at a time until you are comfortable running on the balls of your feet. sock or sockless it's really up to you, the shoe is designed to be worn sockless however, I usually wear a sock for anything greater than 5 miles, dont get me wrong the shoe breathes well I just like the moisture wicking thin socks to aid in the process. I will come back and revise my review when I hit the 500 mile mark, I'm pretty sure the vibram sole will last that long. dp

These are the best for barefoot running

These shoes are great for a barefoot running feel. They fit very snuggly and have a great grip. I'm using them for running in Boston and right now there is snow and slush covering all roads. The shoes maintain pretty good grip throughout all conditions, glad I got the trail shoes instead of the road version. Only problem is that the sole is like superglued on and after a week of heavy use little parts are becoming separated. The shoe will definitely not last too long, probably give it 3 -4 months of heavy running. But that's ok because the feel of these is amazing and I'll probaby buy another pair.

not my favorite

I've had several different Minimus models from New Balance and liked them all except for this pair. The top edge of the heal collar especially at the achilles is uncomfortable and not very forgiving and after several months I don't think it will ever break-in. Blister warning if socks slip below edge or without socks. I wear these for crossfit about 5 times a week. After the first month or so of not-so-demanding wear, I noticed on a drive home that the hexagonal treads glued to the bottom were coming unglued and starting to catch on carpet and other flooring. Would have sent back if not for leaving town and missing deadline.

I've been looking for something that can help me through some very difficult terrain I run through in the woods and this shoe definitely did it! The route has severe turns and terrain with steep inclines and declines - this shoe helped me through it so much better than the other normal running sneakers I had before. Keep in mind, there's not a lot of padding and support so it is easy to twist your ankles...and you will feel every rock you step on - you might have to shorten your runs at first in order to get used to them...but I love this shoe!

Fantastic Shoes

This is the second pair of Miniums Trail shoes I have owned. These shoes are fantastic. They are comfortable and lightweight. I wear them for Crossfit and Mud Runs. I also sometimes wear them to work because they are so comfortable. These are awesome shoes because they can be worn with or without socks and when they get dirty or smelly, simply throw them in the washer or hose them out and let them air dry.

Gets better each time

I like running in 5 fingers, but with all the snow this year I needed something more so I tried the 10v2 and was very happy with the style, feel and traction. They worked well running on the road as well as on the trails. Cleaned up easily and dried out quick for the next day's run. Haven't hit the real rocky trails yet, so still looking to see how they feel after the rocky hills.

High performance trail shoe

The flexibility of my new Minimus 10v2 Trail shoes allow full movement of the foot and toes. This is very important because it adds a sensitivity and balance element not present when wearing traditional cross training shoes. They provide maximum flexibility, comfort and allow me to gain top speed throughout my extreme trail runs.

!/2 size to big over previous version.

I have used up and worn out two pairs of the previous version of these shoes, I typically run a 10.5 but found I needed to run these in a size 11, but the new version feels almost a half size two big. Returned and going to try on in store to get the right fit for me.

My favorite shoe

Have run problem free in this shoe for a year and a half (about 800 miles). Very lightweight and comfortable. Good for any terrain and no need to wear socks. Great shoe if you do not need stability or cushioning.

Good shoe but sole is separating

Really like the shoes (lightweight and cool) but after a short time the sole began separating from the upper at the toe area. I have only worn these shoes for walking casually. I still wear them but both shoes are separating.

Hilly 8 mile run right out of the box!!

Had two pairs of the MT10, they have been my trail and road shoes. Wore them through 3 half-marathons. The only shoes that never hurt my feet. When running in rocks, you will feel the rocks if you are not careful.

New version is better!

Just got the new version and I like it better than the previous Minimus. I think the tread is more comfortable when I am on the road. I try to mix it up road/off road.
