To start, I'm a pretty casual runner, ~20 mpw in the downseason, uptick to ~30 in the running season. I'm a big New Balance fan because I have pretty wide feet and ALWAYS wear out the outer edges of my shoes. They let me get variable widths in most shoes.
I was very pleased that these shoes were able to stand up to the punishment I put them through. They are pretty comfortable but could be better in that department. They aren't the fastest shoes I've had, kind of bulky and heavier than some of the others I've worn. I feel like these would be perfect for trail runs or anything more rugged than pavement but they worked just fine on road as well, I just didn't feel very fast in them.
Other than that, they are pretty solid shoes. Affordable and durable but they didn't blow me away or anything. I liked my 890's a little more but they definitely didn't last as long as these 1260's.
Great shoes for big guys
I am 6ft 4 in 215#. I've been running for 30 years most of them in New Balance. I was very sad to see the 990 discontinued. The 993 and 998 are ok but never quite fit my feet (12EE). The 1260v3 was SOOO comfy when I tried them on in the RRS store on Elkridge, MD. They only had the red one which after years of grey NBs was a bit much for me. The salespeople looked online and found the white/light blue ones. I got them a few days later (with the VIP appreciation Sale discount!) and ran five miles in them this morning. I am very pleased and so are my feet! P.S. - If you get more than one pair of shoes a year, go VIP. The discounts pay for the membership quickly and the service is great.
I bought 5 pairs of these in a year
My gold standard was ASIC Kayanos. When NB1260 v3 came out, I gave it a try (was best upgrade, 2013). I was a bit put off by its appearance -- it has a huge tongue and its sole looks like suckers from an octopus. But it worked well. I was also wearing Kayano 19 and I thought the two were close enough -- the price delta was $20ish. When I acquired Kayano 20, NB 1260 v3 beat it in terms of mid/front foot cushion and overall feeling so I got myself another pair (5th pair in a year). I am 160 lb and run 25-30 miles/week @8-9 min pace. I use treadmill and high school rubber track.
1260v4 Better not screw this up.
This shoe is great and still going strong after 300 miles and counting. I liked the 1260v2 and love the v3. These are better than ASICS GEL-Kinsei 5s in most respects and $50 cheaper on average as I alternate shoes every day. I run over 50 miles/week, have PF in the left foot, occassional tendonitis in right knee and these help keep me going.
Historically I would buy New Balance shoes a half size smaller and get a wider width, but this model seemed more in line with other shoes I have gotten from Asics or Nike. I hope NB doesnt mess it up or discontinue it.
Great training shoes
Awesome pair of running shoes!.. for training.
Love these shoes.
Performs well. True to size.
Cushioning is great.
Pronation control on the dime.
Runs smooth on pavement.
Long runs on these shoes shouldn't be a problem.
However, at 10.7 ounces - its heavy. Compared to a 8.7 performance stability running shoes. That's why its good for training. It makes you feel faster when running on lighter shoes.
Overall, this is a great pair I'd use for short and especially long runs without feeling any pains in the first crucial 3 miles.
Heavy but good.
I'm a pretty heavy runner, (6'1, 225 lbs), so anything without a ton of cushion I'll tear through pretty quick. After getting fitted for Stability Plus grade shoes, I chose these because I liked the cushion in the mid and forefoot- the other stability shoes seem to be for heel strikers. These are the first shoes I've worn where I've been pain-free in my knees next day, which is a miracle.
These are heavy shoes- noticeably so, and a little clunky. But the heavy duty cushion is worth the trade off. Lasted about 8 months for me. I'd recommend them for heavier runners.

Finally, I'cw found my shoes!!
I've been looking for a good shoe for the past year. I've tried my favorite brand NB, ASICS, Saucony, and Brooks. Had to return them all! I've got wide feet however none of the shoes I've bought seemed to fit properly. The night I opened these shoes and put my feet in them I breathed a sigh of relief. I've put about 50 miles on these and I'm thrilled with the 4E width, cushion, and stability. I'm considering buying a second pair however RRS doesn't have the White/Blue model in 4E. Anyhow, love these shoes. I'll be packing on the miles this winter for my train-up of a Half-Marathon.

Great Fit and comfort for my narrow foot
This is the first pair of new balance running shoes I've ever owned. I run between 20 and 25 miles a week, more if I'm training for 1/2 or full marathons. I enjoy running 15K's and 1/2 Marathons especially. I'm 6 ft - 1 inches tall and weigh 165 lbs. I have a narrow foot with a low arch. The 1260 is the best fitting and functional shoe I've owned in all my years of running, 38 years to be exact. I've got two pair now and I'm anxiously awaiting a third pair I just ordered.
Best running shoe I've worn
I have a wide foot and it is often hard if not impossible to find a running shoe that fits as well as this one. I have been using trail shoes for awhile since I do enjoy trail running (NB 876 trail) so the 1260 instantly felt lighter and more impact resistant. I am also a bigger guy 6' 225 and these seemed to be the perfect shoe for me. I have only had them a few days so I cannot say how they will last but I will definitely buy another pair soon if they hold up well.

fair wouldn't buy again
managed to squeeze out 400 miles on these babies but it wasn't easy, I usually get around 500 miles on a pair of stability shoes. These were only OK, cushioning was good, lightweight for a stability + shoes, but broke down fast, as did another pair of New Balance stability shoes I have tried. I would NOT buy again, the barometer of returning to a shoe. That's 2 pairs of NB that I have tried (870s the other) and both haven't been great, that's it i'm out, good bye NB.

Too Much of A Good Thing
I am an older runner with arthritis and tendonitis in my feet and toes. I need a lot of support. I've tried many shoes to manage my condition. These were by far the most comfortable, lightest, most cushioned shoes I've ever tried. I wss thrilled. But after a week the tendonitis flared up big time. Too much of a good thing. I guess my feet were moving around in all that good cushioning. Maybe good for walking or healthier runners.
Great shoe, but size/toe box changed?
I've worn the NB 1200 series for YEARS!!! I skipped from the 1260 to the 1260v3 (missed the v2). Somehow, the toe box got narrower in this latest shoe vs the 1260. Don't know if it changed for 1260 to v2, or v2 to v3. In any case, had to return my normal size and go up one. RRS said NB did the same to 1080 recently and plans to revise fit in next version, but did not know if 1260 would change too. Be wary or sizing. I went up one size, seemed to solve problem. Overall, very comfy shoe!!!

I've had these shoes for a few weeks. They are comfortable. Need to loosen laces at the forefoot. The upper feels like a sock. The heel has good support. I notice the blown cushion cups on the inside of the heel as I walk. This is different than the Asics Gel-Kayano 19. The Kayano has thicker and even support from heel to the ball of the foot. Both are good shoes. Just need more time to see how the NB 1260v3 hold up.

Great Shoe.. Light Weight
I have been running with NB 1226 and the original 1260s the last couple of years. I knew it was time to get some new shoes.. I love how light weight and comfortable these are. Did a half marathon in them for the first long run, and felt great. they truly are a lot lighter. Also does not seem to absorb water as much. I am a heavy runner (225) but these make your feet feel great. Glad I got 2 pairs.. Best shoe I have ever worn to run in.
This is the most comfortable running shoe, right out of the box that I've ever purchased. I'm a "heavy runner" (6'0" 198lbs)and so far (about 25 miles in the first 1 1/2 weeks) they have provided good cushioning and support and the lightweight is great. I have narrow feet and the "D" width is perfect for me. I have been running in Asics Gel Kayano's for the past few years but these shoes have become my new favorite.
Good Shoe when Combined With a Insole
This shoe is no where near as good as the original NB1260. NB has reduced the cushioning and support, but kept the price high. That said, the v.3 is a good mid-miler shoe when combined with the RRS R-Gear Bounce Insole. The combination provides stability and cushioning. I still have a good pair of the original 1260s. They are fine with the original insoles. The v. 3 with the Bounce Insole is about as good.
A little more foot forward striking
Had 1226 and 1260's. This design seems to encourage a little less heel striking and a bit of a more front of foot running style (closer to Newton's ).
Had to take it a bit easier as it seemed to stretch muscles a bit more than my previous 1260's. But after adjusting to them, they have been great. Very comfortable and lightweight and highly recommended!
Better than Kayano
I bought the Asics Kayano 20s in a 12.5 wide. Ran a couple days, they were nice shoes but I just didn't feel that "cushy" feeling I was expecting. I ordered the 1260v3 to see if they were better, and they were MUCH more compfotable and felt like they had much more cushion. They don't have 12.5s so i went with 13, which are fine, but a tad big.
Best shoe yet!
My shoe size is 10 1/2, ordered 11D. Really fits perfect. Plenty of room in the toe box for your foot to spread out comfortably. Right amount of cushion with the perfedt drop. Running comfortably 20 seconds faster per mile with nothing changing except this shoe. Best fitting shoe I have had in a very long time.
I have been ordeing shoes from RoadRunnerSports for many years now and this is the first shoe i really didnt like at all. The shoe is light weight and has plenty cushion. But there is no trace of arch support nad its too tight. Better as a walking shoe or a gym shoe, not a running shoe.

Moderate distance runner, with some injury history. Like the feel of a cushioning shoe but the protection of a stability shoe. This shoe and the V2 before it do both. Feel light and flexible but with adequate stability. I usually run either NB 1200 series or Asics Kayano. The NB 1260 V2 and now 3 are the best shoes I've had.
Excellent shoe - even for pronators
Great -- very supportive And comfortable ride. I have historically used a heavier motion control shoe due to heavy pronation but thought I would give this a try. Great comfort and stability without the rock hard stiffness of a huge instep panel that was the case with most motion controls shoes from Asics, Brooks, etc. very pleased
ordered these for the BF, as we're both preparing for army 10 miler in october. he said they are so comfortable right out of the box, he didn't even feel like he was wearing new sneaks! he loves them! did a quick 4 miles the first day, and no issues whatsoever. he's buying another pair to alternate these with.

I was looking for a sneaker that was comfortable and supported my feet as I run. They are very breathable and helps reduce fatigue. Great for the average runner on pavement/road.
Cons: Many of my sneakers are true to size. i think these are a half size too small.
Love them otherwise!
Shoe offers great support and feels lighter than described as well. Feet feel like they can really breath running during peak heat hours of the day and materials seem durable. I haven't had them very long (2 weeks), but I trust NB and think they will be great until the end.

awesome comfort and cushion
Just getting back on the road following a couple of significant injuries. Ran in Asics, Nike and Mizuno previously. Tried all again in the store and noticed these last. tried the .v2 and immediately put in the box, but the cushion and lower heel drop sold me.
Looking forward to many miles in these!
The best shoes ever!
I am a beginner when it comes to running. I was not able to run more than 1 mile without suffering from shin splints. Now I can run 4 miles without suffering from shin splints. I love these shoes so much I am going to buy 2 more pairs since they are being discontinued.

Better than my 1260 V2's
Nice improvement over the V2's that I have been using: Better support, more cushion, stiffer upper construction but still plenty of comfort. The thicker upper materials don't seem to add weight but the ventilation is about 25% less. Only an issue on very hot and wet days.
Good fit wearing narrow, a little firm
The shoe fit very well in narrow, the only draw back is that I prefer a fairly well cushioned shoe particularly since my long run has asphalt and concrete running over bridges. I agree with another reviewer, I put in a cushioned insole and that helped. Might better on asphalt and trail.
Dan the Masters Runner
Been wearing Saucony for years and was happy. I am a 6'1" 240 lb guy who is getting away from the gym and more on the road. A fellow provider told me to try these because of my size and amount of running I do. So far so good.
