After 6 years in Nike Vomero's (from the 4th to the 7th gen), I decided to try 5 new brands against each other to select a new shoe. I liked the Vomero's but wanted to see what else is out there. As a friend put it, you don't tend to see a lot of competitive runners at a race in Nike's. I generally run between 15-30 miles per week, though I ramp-up to marathon distance training about twice a year. I'm 6'1" and weigh 180. I was seeking a neutral plus shoe with good cushioning, but something that's lightweight and could offer performance. I tried the Mizuno Wave Creation 15, Saucony Triumph 11, ASICS Nimbus 15, Brooks Glycerin 11, and these NB1080v4. I ran 2 3-mile treadmill runs in each pair to get a general understanding of what I liked and disliked about the fit of each pair. I then did a long circuit run through my neighborhood where I ran about 1.3 miles in each shoe before changing to the next. I changed through the 5 pairs 2 times, so I ended with a very objective understanding of how each pair fit, felt on the road, and performed. This NB1080v4 was my winner. Fits perfectly with little movement in the toe, forefoot and heal. The cushioning was fabulous on hard frozen pavement. The styling is conservative compared with the others I tried, but that really shouldn't matter, should it? Not much of the tongue shoes - the left and right eyelets are very close together when laced. To the eye, it looks like it is an improper fit, but it feels fantastic and I have no complaints. For reference, the Saucony's were a very close #2. I chose the NB because the ride was just a little softer. The Brooks fit the best of this group, but the cushioning seemed poor. They felt like a minimalist shoe on the frozen pavement. The ASICS felt like slippers, but I didn't like the feel in the forefront and toe when running. Lastly, the Mizuno's fit the worst - performance was good, but the others I tested felt like a glove and the Mizuno's felt like a glove that needed to be broken-in to fit right. Laces on the Mizuno's were ridiculously long for some reason. Hope this information is helpful to you. If you're in a similar situation, I'd recommend pitting these NB1080v4 and the Saucony Triumph 11's against each-other and selecting a winner on your own. They are both great shoes that perform well and provide a comfortable ride.
New favorite shoe
I wish I would have started with New Balance long ago. After a back injury, I'm looking for a comfortable pair of shoes to ease back into running, needing cushioning +. I've gone through Nike, Adidas, and Asics, and for a variety of reasons, the fit wasn't right. These 1080's fit amazingly, and are up to the task of getting back into running. The first difference I felt was in the heel. It truly cups your heel, no slipping or sliding, no need to lace up too tight. The support is throughout the entire foot. I even feel a little ridge underneath the knuckle of your toes. I guess the sign of a good fitting and comfortable shoe is to not even know you have them on. These feel as good at the end of the day as they do when I put them on. I'm strongly considering getting a second pair to wear for everyday. Overall a great shoe.

I run about 2 miles per day approx. 5 days pr week and and have been running for 35 years. This running shoe is one of the best I have ever purchased. First, I like the low profile so I don't feel like I'm always running downhill. The cushioning is superb. I run on concrete and I no longer feel shin or toe pain since using the 1080's. The toe box is also spacious which has been an issue with previous running shores. If I were to provide one criticism it would be the the back of the shoe above the heel is a bit low. I got used to it quickly but, at first, it made me feel like I could slip out of the back. Now I realize that perhaps my older running shoes might have been just a bit too high. I highly recommend the 1080's if you want great cushioning and a good amount of toe space, these are a good choice.
Now I have found MY best shoe
Like so many of the latest New Balance shoes, the arch support is almost non-existent. I use Sole brand orthotics for a huge improvement. I am a heavy sweater and shoes run cool and drain well. For me, the extra firm outer heel gives me perfectly balanced foot support. These shoes do not wear out. I have worn NB for decades. I had to go to synthetics for running instead of the natural leather 998's which got soggy and heavy, a few years ago when I started running marathons in the heat. I tried all the popular ones. Got Planter Fasciitis from lack of arch support in most I tried. Now I have recovered and use firm orthotics in all my shoes. I love the 1080 V4's.
I play tennis a lot and this year decided to join half marathon and started running in January for April Marathon. Then I realized running is not easy as it seems. Started facing all different issues with foor\Arch and Knees. Roadrunner was very helpful to try different options. Tried 3 different shoes and one custom sole and I was still struggling with knee pain and foot problems.
Finally I made selection of NB 1080V4 and my hunt is over now. My shoe size is 10 W with Neutral foot type. These shoes solved my all Knee paina nd foot\Arch problems. Now I am running 10 miles in single runn with know issues. Will highly recommend to give it a try.
Not a neutral plus shoe
I returned these shoes after taking them on 2 test runs. I'm 6'2", 195#, and have high arches, so neutral plus is the style I've been going with for the last few years. I loved the Nike Vomero 6s that I had, didn't like the 7s as much, but I've found that I also like the Asics Gel Nimbus 15s. I tried these New Balance 1080v4s to see how they were, and the arch support was not enough, more like you'd expect out of a stability control shoe, definitely not a good fit for my high arches. I've been injury free since I've stuck with good neutral plus shoes for my 15-35 miles per week. I replaced the NBs with the Gel Nimbus 16, which is another Asics winner. The 1080v4 may be a great shoe for others with flatter feet, but not for me.

First time I have been disappointed.
I mostly use these shoes to walk and a little running. They are very lightweight and comfortable. My problems is durability and the fact that this pair of New Balance has worn out in less than two months. The upper material is tearing apart. The foot-bed liner is wearing thin and imparting red dye onto my white socks, something no other shoe has done. I normally am a big fan of New Balance shoes because of excellent size options (example - wide widths in more shoe models). But this time I am disappointed and have stopped wearing them. Maybe it's time to go back to Brooks.
Disappointed Big Man
I'm big (230 lbs) but active, running 7 days per week, 4-5 miles per day. Out of the box these shoes are fantastic, but after 250 miles this summer I find that the midsole, where all the cushioning is, has completely broken down in the forefoot area. The heel midsole is pretty flat too. I'm experiencing a clunky and hard ride now, which is why I'm on the site. Time for new shoes! I believe it may be time to try a new brand. I'm sad because New Balance is usually my go-to shoe.
Helps Me To Keep Young and Healthy at 69
I use this product in my 3x a week workout this is my second pair that I purchased from your store. Your store was recommended to me by the avid runners in my class. I noticed the difference in these shoes right away. Being a 2 yr breast cance survivor, now jut had surgery on my knee and am slowly returning to daily routines I need the support your shoes give me. also I love the treadmil dog. Thanks
Pretty Good Shoe but Not Great
I use these shoes for walking as arthritis no longer allows me to run. The shoe is supportive, but runs a bit wide in the narrow width. I was hoping for a more durable shoe than the 890s I have been using and it probably is but it not as comfortable and cushy as the 890, and the fit isn't as good.
I would probably recommend this shoe to someone who doesn't require a narrow shoe.
I've been a 1080 runner since v1. Up through v3 these shoes were great! I took a side trip to the ASICS for a while and decided to come back. I purchased this current pair of 1080 v4 in mid -September, and they are staring to come apart here in mid-November. I average about 25-30 miles per week, running and walking. They fit fine, they feel fine, etc. I'm just more than a little disappointed in the durability.
I'll buy this shoe again.
I wear one pair for work and one for casual/workouts. The shoe is very durable. In my HVAC job I'm always in attics and crawl spaces. The shoe cleans up good in washing machine on gentle cycle. Be sure to take out the insole before washing.
I needed a neutral shoe, I got it.
My podiatrist prescribed a neutral shoe with good cushioning in which I could use my own professionally-made orthotic that has major arch support. I chatted online with a sales rep at Road Runner who suggested this shoe. I've jogged/walked on it for about 20 kilometers and I believe this is a good shoe for my needs.

Snug fitting runner
I am on my feet all day at work and these are great. My heel fits in snuggly and no sloshing around. I wear them for 6-7 hours at a time and are comfortable throughout. The only thing is I would like a darker color as light gray and white get dirty looking after awhile.
They actually improved a great shoe...
I wore the previous 1080 v3 and was blown away by how New Balance went from being clunky to cool and a lot lighter. The new 1080 v4 is just as comfortable, and my legs love it. I'm a big guy (6'1" 195) and this makes me feel like a gazelle.

love this shoe
Upgraded to the 1260 series but was disappointed so I went back to the 1080 series. I find it a better fit and doesn't retain as much moisture. I have run in New Balance for years and have always had good luck with them.

My third pair of 1080
This is a great shoe. Relatively light but still has plenty of cushioning and is very durable. I am 6'-3", 185 lbs. and the shoe holds up better than about any other shoe I've tried. I especially like it for my long runs.
I have always used Nike Vomero shoe, I still like them, but this New Balance was an added cushion shoe and I like them for running on pavement/roads since I have bad knees and need all the support I can get from the impact.
Perfect fit would buy again!
I walk every day, approx. 5 miles and this shoe fits and feels great. I have
gotten NB for a number of years, and I think this shoe has fit me the best of
all the other shoes I have tried.
Great initial impression
As a military officer, I run everyday and also do plyo-metrics. These shoes felt good during their first week of use. My only concern is their durability. Time will tell.

This is what I'm talking about
These fit and feel great right out of the box. I had the 1080V2 before these. Much better across the board. Great shoe.
Very Good Shoe
Great lightweight shoe. I have owned the v2, v3 and now the v4s. These are probably the best out of all the 3 that i have owned.
Great fit and feel
Great feel and wear. This is my second pair after years of Kayanos. They are going to be hard to beat.
Great shoe! This series has been my "go to" shoe since Version One and it has never disappointed me!
I have over 500 miles on my current 1080 V4 and they show minimal wear.
Time for a new pair

Good choice For Neutral Shoe
Shoe has a substantial feel but does not feel heavy when distance running.
You have made a great improvement in the cushioning I love them.
I really like this shoe the v3 didn't seem as durable as the v4 does.

For me its awesome shoe!
I use my shoe for training and for running events.
