This is the best running shoe for anyone who needs extra support. I am so glad they still carry the 1220, since the 1221 is a poor substitute.

I love these shoes. I have been buying them for years. I was so sad when they stopped making them for the 1221--a shoe that is nothing in comparison (the mesh siding takes away support and stability from the overall product). I was very happy when 1220 came back. It is a wonderful shoe for individua...

Although I have a high arch and don't pronate, these shoes still work better for me than anything else I've tried. Excellent fit and comfort over long distances. (I'm female, 5'3", and solidly built.)

I have already worn out two and will be purchasing my third pair! This is one of the few shoes that does not chafe my ankles. Totally comfortable and stable.

Great running shoe, but after a few runs (10?) my left shoe decided to relieve the tongue of any obligation to remain stitched to the upper. Taking in for repairs and hoping that's the only construction flaw.

I've run many marathons in 1220's, and I'll never run one in anything else!!!! The only shoe that doesn't give me problems.

When the 1220 was put on the shelf I reluctantly went to the 1221, a better shoe right? WAY WRONG!!! Welcome home 1220!!!

I've been wearing these shoes for years and I STILL think they are the most comfortable shoes out there. I've tried others (I am returned the Asics Gel Kayano XI as I write this to exchange them for the 1220) but none can hold a candle to these shoes. You can't go wrong with them!

Love them. Have worn Nike, Adidas and Saucony -- which are okay, but the 1220s are great. You can take them out of the box and run hard. What a shame they are now an endangered "species".

This is a great shoe. The new version of this has more durability with the same great stability and heel as this. Both are fantastic! I've been running in these shoes (and the new version) since they came out and tried many others in the meantime, but none as good as these... For me, of course.

These are definately the best shoes I have ever run in. I'm 220 lbs 5 foot 10 inches with average arches. They fit like a dream and the knee and foot pain I was used too with other shoes is a thing of the past. I run about 40 miles a week at present with 2 marathons in front of me this fall so I cou...

I have run 3,000 miles and 3 marathons in the past 24 months, 75% of it in 1220s. I average 300/miles before retiring them. I started at 195 lbs, now 175 lbs and 60 years old. I also have 1221, 2001, 991,Kayanos, Brooks, and Mizunos but I just stocked up with another 9 pairs of 1220s..I haven't fo...

After getting tendonitis in these shoes training for the 2001 NYCM, I blamed it on the shoes. In 2002, I switched to the Mizuno Wave (terrible), the Adidas Cairo (worst) and finally to the NB 580 which I used for the NYCM that year. However, for some reason two brand new pairs of NB 580's gave me sh...

"Upgraded" from the 991's. I am 6'2", 225 lbs - 30 miles/week. Felt like running on wood slats - the thick soles don't give. Shins have taken a pounding. Going to try Asics Kayanos or stay with 991's.

Don't waste your money on the closeouts. This is a great shoe, but it only lasts about 200 miles. I am under 160, and I quickly wore two pairs of this model out. My local running specialty store refused to carry the model due to wear problems. Buy the 1221 SB instead. NB seems to have solved th...

After my stash of 1210's ran out I purchased the 1220 and did not recognize this shoe. It was one of the worst running shoes I have ever purchased with hardly any cushion or arch support. The first time I have ever felt any leg pain was after I ran with these which felt like a shoe I picked up at ...
