the shoes literally 'stink' like cat pee if they get wet. Smell goes on for months. Otherwise great shoe.

I have run just over 10,500 miles and 22 marathons in the past 5 years, and have gone through 22 pairs of 1220s, and have another 10 new pairs in the closet. I number and track the mileage on every pair of shoes and I average 300-325 miles before I retire a pair. I also run on multiple Asics, Adid...

I have been wearing NB for a long time, and this is by far the best shoe I've ever had. I am a heavy heel striker, over pronator and have a slsight rolling action in my nknees, so cushioning and stability is a must for me. The 1220 delivers better than anything else...991s, 998s, 1300s, M2000s. I ...

My brother just bought a pair of these shoes (Jan 2008). The first time they got wet, the terrible cat pee smelled occurred. Nothing makes it go away. I strongly recommend that people not purchase these shoes.

To the reviewer complaining of the 'cat pee smell'. I've heard of that problem. It was isolated to a shipment of glue that they got. Once the glue got wet, a terrible 'cat pee' smell resulted. You're right, nothing makes it go away. The issue has been fixed. It had effected a few different mod...

I'm a heavy guy -- 6'0 and 225. Size 4e. These 1220's feel great. I've bought a 1/2 dozen pair. I recently tried another NB shoe because I wanted an updated style. Sent it back. These shoes last a long time for me because I'm doing about 10 miles a week. Think that I will buy 4 pair within th...

This is my 4th pair of 1220, The rollerball in the shoe keeps me walking and runnig in a straight line. Because of my pronation ankles and knees don't hurt as much. Something to get use to, and they are very good

The shoes are great, but they start to stink. I have been a NewBalance wearer (wide feet) for 20+ years. They used to last 18mths, hen I was running. Up to 3yrs when I was just using them for casual. Now after 6mths the sole, not the shoe, the plastics/rubber in the sole starts to stink like cat pee...

I have honestly lost count of how many pairs of NB 1220s I have owned throughout my years of running in the service. I have flat feet on a large frame (180+) - these shoes not only give me the support I need, but they hold up well for many months of physical training. If you have not given this sh...

I used to think this was a 5 star shoe, but I've noticed the duration of the shoe has decreased since they started producing them in China. I used to get 400 miles out of a pair and am now down to 150 miles. They are still keeping me injury free, but it's getting costly to replace them every month...

I'm an avid runner, 5'11"/175 lbs with supination on my left foot, pronation on my right. (Obviously, I wear orthotics.) I have tried numerous shoes over the years and this is by far the best when it comes to support and cushioning. I even tried the a couple pairs of the 1221, assuming it was an "up...

These are the best running shoes for me. I had Osgood-Schlatter Disease which affect the knees as a child, I am now 34 and still have the same pain. After a run my knees would hurt so much that I found it difficult to walk up stairs. A friend turned me on to the 1220s and now can run 6-12miles w...

This is the best shoe I have ever run in. I'm 5'11'' and 185lbs and used to get shin splints all the time. I've tried the 1222's and they stink. Thank the maker for classics! My only complaint...feet can't breathe well.

I did a lot of reviewing of shoes before I purchased the 1220's on this website. The 1220's rated fairly well. I cannot say that I'm totally impressed with them though. I had a pair of NB 643 before the 1220's. The 1220's have a narrower toes box than the 643's and consequently had to return my ...

For the high mileage runner who wants a good mix of stability and cushioning, this shoe is the best. I have tried the 1221, 1222, and a number of non-NB shoes, and this is clearly the best one of its type. Before this shoe I had knee pain while running that got noticeably better while running in t...

This is the best shoe I have run in. It has superior cushioning and support. I have run the Chicago Marathon 5 times in these shoes. I am injury prone and I find that the NB 1220 lessens the likelihood that an injury will occur. I have tried several other expensive shoes, including the NB 1221. Non...

Excellent running shoes for the everyday runner. This are the ones I use for my everyday run. Very stable and confortable. I've use this 1220's on sand, dirt, hills, asphalt. Not for competitive running, they're too heavy.
I'm going through my second pair right now. First pair lasted 3 years, and I...
