Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

Perfect racing shoe!!! Ran my first half marathon in them. I feel so fast when I wear them. Like I'm running on clouds.
I do agree that a shoe with more subtantial cushion would be more suitable for logging a lot of training miles on.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

I've owned this style for over a year now and have run two marathons, an IronMan and two Half Irons in them. They are very comfortable. I use them for training and races. They are the first NB I have owned so I can't compare them to the 827s. I agree with the folks about the "outta-the-box" excellent fit and feel. The bottoms have worn faster than any other shoe I owned. This wasn't a major issue as I replace my shows based on miles and they had more in them.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

I've worn the 8xx series since the 827 and yeah they wear out quick. I've also run a marathon out of the box and every long run in them and they fit like a glove. Light, responsive with just enough cushion ing as long as they make the 827, 828, 829, 830, 831 and 833 (don't know why they skipped the 832) I'll wear 6 pair a year.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

New Balance, now hear me! BRING BACK THE 827. My wife told me to buy 20 pairs of the 827 and she was right! Nothing after the 827 in this series compares. Not even this one. The fit is somewhat gummy (which most seem to think is a good thing), the cushioning renders the shoe less repsonsive (the 827 had plenty of cushioning anyway!), and the wear and tear is just unfair! I wish I would have taken my wife's advice. I think New Balance should fire the design team that ruined a good series (and alienated a VERY LOYAL following). IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT MORONS! I for one will be looking elsewhere for a good training shoe.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

No doubt this shoe is not made to go long distance, but it is comfortable and the perfect weight for a racing shoe! If you are a larger frame or have bad feet or knees, this shoe is not for you. This shoe is made for when you want to run fast. Wear this once/twice a week for a fast run, and when you're going for time in the half/full marathon. That said, this shoe seems to last better than most Nike and other more expensive shoes also made overseas. Good quality, good price. Highly recommended.

I looked over the reviews and agree with some of the comments. These shoes are so comfortable out of the box, unfortunately just when you are really falling in love with them they're already worn out. i run about 30-40 mpw and have gone through 2 pairs in about 1/2 the time it usually takes me. I'm considering buy another pair for few long runs and just wear them for races. i need to find a new training shoe

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

Well, as promised, I'm checking in after logging a few hundred miles in these. I dropped my rating by one star because, although they feel great out of the box (unbelievably comfortable fit), the outsoles just don't hold up (I've worn the forefeet on mine almost flat). If the price tag was half as much, I'd buy another pair. But -- call me old fashioned -- I refuse to pay so much for a shoe that's not built to be trained in. In the mid 1980s, I used to be able to put 800-1000 miles on my favorite shoe of all time: the Nike Air Vortex. Since then, running shoe companies have slowly and consistently lowered our expectations of what constitutes reasonable wear on a shoe. The 833 is probably just a little ahead of its time...

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

The shoe is a very comfortable, especially for those that narrow feet. Wear is the issue with the shoe. A NB representative gave this response to the wear- The outsole of the shoe is made of a blown rubber, which adds cushioning and makes the shoe much more lightweight, however, the sole is not developed for high mileage running. The soles lasted under 4 weeks at 70+ for this runner. The three stars are for comfort. A good track shoe or for fast workouts but not for the daily grind.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

In many ways, this is the perfect shoe. I've run a few marathons in this series, have used them for speedwork, racing, and as a workhorse trainer. It slips on better than the 830 did, and has plenty of headroom in the toebox. Just choose the right width and size up as recommended. If I had to run in one shoe, this would be the one- for light, neutral runners like me. Fortunately, there are plenty of choices at RRS for people with specific needs. Heavier runners and non-neutral runners might want to keep looking for heavier models with more gadgets and tougher outsoles, but all of us should be buying and rotating lots of shoes anyway. Modern elastomers decrease weight and increase comfort and quickness at the expense of a little durability, but new shoes are cheaper than physical therapy, eh? I'll bet nobody can make a shoe that does what the 833 does, weighs as little and lasts twice as long, including NB!

I have had my 833 for a year and a half now. I just love the versatility of the shoe. They work well at the gym, cardio and weights. They are also great for walking. Good stability and flexible sole. They do work better with a pair of Dr. Scholl's gel heel cusions.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

What they say is true... these are cushy as a slipper. For reference, I'm a medium arch, wide foot, 165lbs, with fairly neutral gait. I wear an 11-2E in these, and they've been best fit right from the box of any shoe I can remember. Ran a half-marathon 3 days after getting them (against my better judgement), and was not sorry a bit. They're nice and light at 10.1 ounces (size M9.5) for a "training" shoe (what most of us where race day anyway). The tread does indeed wear 1.5x to 2x faster than other New Balance shoes I've owned though (1022, 1023, 831). Bought some Mizuno Rider 8's that are supposed to wear longer (and feel slightly better cushioned at heel impact) for bulk of training days. I try to save the 833's for goal/record/race days. If I only had one pair, it would be the 833's, hands-down. Might just buy a back-up pair in case NB messes up the next revision of this shoe.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

Great fit and ride. This is a good marathon shoe except for the horrible sole wear. The bottom of this shoe wears out far too quickly. I have less than a hundred miles on my pair and it is comparable to sole wear of 500 plus miles on some other brands (Mizuno, Adidas, Fila etc.) Not acceptable. Will go with Mizuno Precision as my next marathon shoe.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

This is my first shoe from NB (usually Asics is my shoe of choice). Very nice ride right out of the box. Light, yet cushioned and very breathable. Only minor complaint is the toe box is a little large for me though I run without socks. Those who wear socks would fit perfectly I suspect. I would definitely recommend them.

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

I like cushioned shoes and the 833 was rated as improved over the other same line models which I was disappointed. Sorry, but this has not great cushioning and not much improved over the others (ie:827, etc.).It looks nice and is light, but I bottomed out from the start and weight 180. Go get the NB 878, now that is a cushioned solid shoe.

The 753 and 754 can't compare to the 752's but since reading the reviews it appears runners are trainig in the 833's so I will have to give them a shot for training runs.

I love the 833!! Actually, I love this whole series even the 831 that most people don't like! 833 feels light, quick and soft at the same time! But just like Mark M stated in the comment below, the bottom of the shoes wears out super fast!! I'm a small runner (130 lb). I only put about 200 training miles and a marathon on this pair and it looks like I have to get a new pair already!

Comments about Womens New Balance 833 Running Shoe:

The fit of this shoe is incredible, but the problem I had with them was the outsole. It wore down extremely fast compared to other shoes I've owned. There was significant wear after only 75 miles. I'm just over 6 feet/160 lbs so I don't think my size is wearing them out. Add a more durable sole, and this could be a perfect shoe.

Early opinion (after just one run) from someone 5'11", 155 lbs who logs about 40-45 mpw (most of it around 8-minute pace): These shoes are everything I've been looking for in a performance trainer: light, well-cushioned, reasonably flexible, and responsive. They're pretty much a racing flat, if a tad more substantial. What sold me was the amazing, out-of-the-box fit. Super comfortable for my narrow, high-arched feet. Might as well be slippers. I'll check back in a couple months to report on their wear (if they're still this good by then, I'll change my rating to five stars)...

These shoes haven't been a disappointment. I ran my first marathon in them (Honolulu 2003) as well as the Great Aloha Run (8.15 miles), La Jolla Half Marathon, San Diego's Rock n Roll Marathon, and just recently, America's Finest City Half...all with the same pair of 833s.. These shoes still feel great, but I think's it's time for a new pair of 833s. You can't go wrong with these, by far the best pair of running shoes I have owned.

The 833 may just possibly be the finest lightweight performance trainer that NB , or for matter of fact , anyone has ever produced!

I've been running in the 82/83 line since the 828's and have loved almost every one. The 833 is a nice improvement on the 831s that I ran my first marathon in, but all have been good, reliable cushioned shoes. The only problem I've had with the 833s is buying them. Last time around I had to wait months for my size (12B) to come into stock. Now that I've put 400 or so miles on that pair and am ready to purchase another, RRS again seems to be out of stock of 12Bs. Do the rest of you have large narrow feet?!?!?! RRS, there must be higher demand than you are accounting for!

I ran my first marathon with a pair of 830s straight out of the box and I haven't worn another shoe since. The whole 830-833 series has been great. From training in the hot desert or th humodity of Southeast Asia, my NBs have been a solid performer. Since I weigh about 195 lbs, my only wish was for more cushion. I wear out a pair in about 4 months. But, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Kudos to you New Balance!

These have been my marathon shoes since the 828. I know that a lot of people complained about the 831 which I also own. But I really had no complaints for the 831 either... they were great for me!! Anyway, I bought a pair of Asics DS Trainer 8 because my NB 831 went flat. I ran one marathon with it and nearly dump them to the trash bin. I learned my lesson... I'm sticking with these NB series!! Also, they are a great combination with the Saucony Hurricane 03 (and probably 04... I'm in the process of buying them). I use the Hurricane to train and the NB to race... Worked out great for me!!

This is the best long distance trainer/marathon shoe I've worn in a long time. I used to wear Asic DS trainers but finally stopped because the quality of the shoe went down hill with each upgrade. So I tried the 833's even though I normally require a shoe with more stability. What a pleasant surprise to find that the 833's have all the stability that I need, not to mention great cushioning, light weight, and a springy/snappy step!! I ran an 18 miler last weekend and the shoes performed well throughout the run. This is my 2nd pair of 833's and both pairs have been excellent. If you want a fast, light, comfortable trainer with a touch of stability, this shoe is for you!

Great shoe!! Very light weight but stable. I ran a comfortable 10K in this shoe today and felt like I could've went farther.

Just what I was looking for in a lightweight trainer. The 831/833 are better cushioned than the 830.

I've only worn this shoe a few weeks; so far they are great. I may be imagining it, but the 833 feels more cushioned than the 831s I had last year; a very nice shoe for runners with rigid feet. In the past I've had trouble with the 83- series because the heel counter slopes forward toward the achilles tendon; tendinitis hurts! I'm trying a new lacing system that reduces heel tension. No problems yet. This is the perfect New Balance shoe for people (like me)who don't really like most of the clunky New Balance shoes.
