Comments about Mens New Balance 1521 Trail Running Shoe:

I have always worn a 10 2E in my other NB road shoes. First - I ordered the 10 2E, but it was way too small (and narrow for a 2E). I returned those, and ordered a 10.5 2E. After a 15 miler on a level packed trail, these shoes are just plain funky. While the sole and the last seem like what I might expect for a trail shoe, and the look is really cool, the sizing is completely out of whack. The toe box (on a full size up) still caused pain in both feet (last three toes). There were also stray threads inside the shoe that balled up inside the toebox. I am not sure if it may have been poor assembly, or maybe a design flaw, but these are not the NB quality I have come to expect.

        I cannot really offer a full review as these shoes run very small. I ordered a 10 4E (usually I am a 10 2E in my 1226's, but have even found that the new line runs narrow). Order a full size up for this one. Those with true 4E feet might not find it wide enough. When will shoe companies realize that there are trail runners with wide feet?
