Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

I am a fairly serious runner and I run about 50-60 miles per week. I have used this shoe for everything from trail runs and runs in the snow, to everyday use. This shoe has lasted me over a year now and is still doing an awesome job. I had no trouble breaking in this shoe; they felt great the first time I wore them. The first time I wore the for a cross country workout, I cut approximately 20 seconds from my time for 1km intervals, and I was already the top distance runner for my high school. This shoe has great stability, the best cushioning I've ever seen in a shoe, and a great turnover. Makes you feel like the shoe is doing half the work for you. I plan to buy another pair when these finally give out and I would recommend this shoe to anyone who wants a great shoe at a great price.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

Nike once again has taken a 5 star 2005 shoe and so completely changed it in 2006 it should have a different name. There is no doubt the newer model is stiffer with less rebound and flexibility. Too bad. They've once again left serious runners in the lurch in an efort towards mediocrity. Footbox is WAY to big. I am down a half size in the new model.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

I've logged two runs in my Pegs and already found that the folks who complained about the stiff insole are exactly right. However, I replaced the factory insole with a flexible aftermarket insole and it's a whole new world now. Did 5 miles with the new insoles and it was a blister and hot spot-free run. Definitely try replacing the insoles before you return the shoes themselves -- the difference a new insole makes will surprise you.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

Bought this after my Saucony's gave out last fall. They only last two months with alternating wear. Absolutely hated the Pegasus when I firt got it. Could not make it comfortable. I persisted. I now love it. A little rigid but I have adapted. This shoe will also go the distance. I got a seven months of wear with this shoe and just bought another pair last month. That first pair out lasted two other brands that I rotated in. Hope they don't undo anything with the 07.

Similarly to John, I have had problems with the arch area in the insole. A crease began to form and it is very irritating. I replaced them with some of the softer ones from my old 05 Pegs. I'm not raving about the 06 Peg, and I would say I am one of very few who preferred the 05, but it is a decent shoe.

Well, I am glad to see I am not the only one, was worried maybe I was just too sensitive. I also had the insole crease problem, never an issue on "short" runs, but on a half marathon, felt like I had a pebble in the inside of my right foot, created a really bad blister. Ended up being a crease in the hard insole that is there permanent now. Stinks because I liked the shoes other then that. Are a little tight in the box too, but had some good performances in them. At around 250 miles now on them. 6' 180#

I've been running in the Pegasus for years. I run ,45 miles a week and weigh 160 lbs. The 2006 Pegasus is a full ounce heavier than the 2005 model! It also doesn't have the rebound I like so much in previous models. Bring back the 2005!

By BTX

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

Much better than 2005, but all the outer cosmetic details leave a lot of internal seams that could give you hot spots until your foot (not the shoe) is broken in. Sole wear is absolutely fantastic. Tall/heavy runners won't have any problems--I mention this for those NB and Asic wearers who are used to losing all their sole tread after a month.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

I'm pretty critical of running shoes. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I feel shoes are more expensive and last less long than 20-25 years ago. The current Pegasus is the correct shoe for me. Great cushioning and sole wear. Nike got this edition right, unlike the previous two year models. Nike, please don't try to fix something which isn't broken when you next revise the Pegs.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus 2006 Running Shoe:

I used to run with the Air Pegasuses for many years. When Nike introduced the Air Max, they cheapened the Air Pegasuses. That's when I switched to Asic, Saucony, and other brands. With the '05s, I am back running with the Pegs. They are long lasting and have the best combination of cushioning and weight. I actually prefer the '05 over the '06. The fit and finish of the '05 is better. The worse thing for the '06 is the in-soles. I run without socks. The '06 arch supports are cut much too short (to save money???) and they cut into my arches and caused huge blisters. I had to replace the in-soles from a pair of worn '05. I am running now with a pair of '06, and except for a slightly looser fit in the forefoot area, not as good as a fit and finish as the '05 and the unusable in-soles, they are as good as the '05. Both Pegs hold up well too, not like the Air Maxes. I rate the '05 5 stars and the '06 4 stars.

I enjoyed this shoe a lot. So much that I bought two pairs. I use them for my everyday training shoe and I have no complaints even after 20 mile runs. They breathe well, wear well, and let you know when they're about to give up the ghost, which is about 350 miles for me. It's not pefect though. Kinda heavy, and not as flexible as Nike would lead you to believe. They take some breaking in. FWIW I am 5'11" 155lbs and a sub 3 marathoner. This is my work horse shoe, not my race day shoe.

I have been wearing Peg's since the 2002 model and have always been very happy with the ability to put them on out of the box and have no real break-in time. My first run in the 06 Peg's was absolutely miserable! The arch on my right show was so high and stiff that it made the run very painful. I got home pulled the insoles out and couldn't believe how stiff they were! I went and bought some sports insoles and replaced the factory insoles and my runs have been much better, but I'm still feeling like it will take a little longer to have the show completely broken in. I really preferred the previous models.
