These shoes rock. Great ride, not to soft and definitely not too firm. Probably the best responsive and flexible Neutral shoe out there aside from any of the Nike FREE models. Upper is roomy yet conforms to the foot. I think less is more and with reduced overlays, the breathability has been a huge benefit.

Since I have won either my age group (45-49) or overal Masters in my last 3 races wearing these. i can say they have assisted me in my feet feeling refreshed, not cramped (extra thumb width above toe), and ready to order another pair. I will be wearing these in the Georgia Marathon in two weeks.

I am a slow runner and I finished my first marathon in San Diego with these shoes. Overall refreshed but feet cramps in the feet. Turned out that the shoe size was too small for the long distance. Bought a second pair 1/2 size larger and finish the difficult San Francisco Marathon. No pain at all. In between, ran 5 and 10K's in them. I am not a shoe expert but the light weight and a balanced cushion feel suits me fine. Too bad that this line is being discontinued. Glad that I bought 4 pairs in advance to tie me over for next couple years.

Great overall shoe. Nike has always made shoes to benifit those with narrow feet, just like these. The shoes are almost an exact replica of the hayward besides the new narrower fit. These shoes were surprisingly durable for a lightweight pair of nikes

Great Go-Fast shoes! (especially for an older guy like me) I continue to alternate with the Vomero 3, which is my daily trainer. I keep hearing that the Skylon will be discontinued and replaced in July. Has anyone heard about the replacement model?

I am a novice runner and shoes were not a big factor. Until my first 1/2 marathon, I realize the value of a good pair of running shoes. After experimenting for a few months, I settled on Skylons. The shoes were a bit narrow for my 8.5, but no problem after a month. 5 months later, I completed my first marathon last weekend. Just ordered 4 more pairs due to Nike discontinuing this line. Hate to change shoes after spending such a long time finding something that fits. I rather spend more time running than to worry about my next pair of shoes.

Fantastic Shoe. Feels very light on the foot but still has fantastic cushioning. I am 190lbs and have had no pain in these shoes. I have had mine for 9 months and am going to buy again before they are gone.

I have average size foot and these fit really well. Comfortable out of the box. Perfect fit for my feet, definately buy 1/2 size up. I've tried multiple lightweight trainers and these are best by far.

These are my favorite running shoes ever! Of course I have a pretty narrow foot so the fit is great. Peg is too wide for me. I have found them to hold up well and have done several 10k's in them. Love them!

great ride out of the box. Horrible lifespan though, died on me after 125 mi's. the ride became jarring and the forefoot cushioning non-existent. Not worth the cash.

Have to agree with Billabong. The new Skylon is FAR superior in every way. My new fav shoe! I'm already worried about the replacement in July. I got a peek of it. Looks different. and NOT in a good way. Darn! here we go again. You find a shoe. Please Nike! STOP!!! leave a perfect shoe alone for once.

Fri, February 22,2008:
I was extemely disappointed that Nike discontinued the most comfortable running shoe of all time, the old Hayward. I was excited that the Skylon was the next generation, but after running in them for about 50 miles, I find they are not nearly as comfortable. The cushioning is good, but not as good as the Hayward, which seemed to become part of my feet when I put them on. Pleaes Nike, bring back the old Hayward!

I'm a slight framed, narrow feet runner. Use these for both tempo work and and base building miles....nothing but good things for me. Interchange them with Saucony Tangents....great shoe to train in.

RRS's spec for "performance neutral" deals with high arches and small-mid frame and has nothing to do with narrow feet. These shoes are unusually narrow so beware.

Tue, January 29,2008:
My feet are fairly narrow and these are really tight. I couldn't run more than 5 minutes in these. These might work well for extremely narrow feet.

These are "PERFORMANCE NEUTRAL" shoes!!! They're meant for small, light-weight, competitive runners with high arches and narrow feet. I'm not saying that larger runners can't be competitive, I'm simply saying when you're shopping for shoes buy shoes that fit your feet!

This upadates earlier comment and supports others. Beware - over time these turned out to be so narrow as to cause recurrence of plantar faciitis. The Hayward they're not.

The best shoe i have evere worn they only weigh 9.5 ounces and you can run up to 20km in them as they have such good cushioning

After wearing-out 4 pairs of Haywards I was disgusted but not surprised that Nike discontinued them. Whenever I find a show that I really like Nike changes it, or deletes it from their line-up. Think of the Pegasus! So I bought a pair of Skylons. It is significantly firmer than the Hayward, and also narrower. Both these characteristics cause me to give the shoe a big 'thumbs-down'! I have 2 running friends that reacted in the same way.

As I have started to accumulate some miles on these shoes, I have also noted that the fit is a bit more snug than the Haywards. They also seem a bit longer in the toe box. Fortunately for me this actually improves the fit.

i'd hoped these would be a good replacement for the hayward. they are not. these shoes are so narrow my feet hurt and i'm unable to run in them. also, they don't allow the same freedom of movement for my feet that the hayward gave. beware if your feet are medium to wide.

great shoe so comfortable that you barely know its on your foot, i bought these after i had the asics GT-2120 and couldnt run further than 4km without getting blistes all over my feet this shoe i ran that same course and didnt need to stop and did the whole 6km blister free

Why does Nike persist in making shoes that feel great but are so narrow that they won't fit those of us with normal Size D feet? They've been doing it for years! Back they go to RRS.

Sun, October 21,2007:
This shoe does run narrow but is very light and breathes quite well. The cushioning of the zoom air isn't really noticeable in the store but once your foot warms up the shoe it is very apparent. This is the best shoe I've ever had besides a pair of basketball shoes that had zoom air along with a full length carbon plate but they were twice as much. Definitely recommend these.

I am just breaking in my first pair of these updated shoes. The Skylon seems much like the Haywards. The fit is somewhat different, maybe slightly longer in the toebox. My toes seem to have a bit more room. Overall I like the fit, and the cushioning and weight seem just like my old favorite Haywards. Thanks Nike, for not making major changes to this shoe.

Compared to the Hayward, a much more narrow fit in the forefoot/toebox area. Had to send back.

Thu, October 04,2007:
The Hayward was a terrific shoe and the Skylon is almost identical, but the foot bed and toe box both seem a bit narrower. After almost 200 miles they are wearing well.

I have a different experience with this Skylon than experessed by Reviewer 3, who says this is only a name change. My pair, at least, is 0.4 oz lighter than my previous pair of Hayward's. Very comfortable shoe and I can second the performance attributes mentioned in the other reviews.

This shoe is comfortable, light weight and supportive. It is identical to the Hayward. I regularly do my long runs in them and have run a marathon in them with no issues. I haven't had a shoe this good in awhile.

Only a name change. The upper has been updated from the Hayward, but essentially the same shoe. Seems to fit about a 1/2 size smaller than the hayward also. Only downside is that they did not make this shoe Nike+ compatable.

How does this shoe compare to the Hayward? The Hayward has been my primary shoe for the last couple years and I hope it has only changed in name

Mon, July 23,2007:
This shoe is amazing! The comfort level is off the charts, and it is the best value out there if you are looking for a super light weight shoe that can improve your lap times. The Nike Zoom Air technology literally propels you forward, and the agressive tread design, and tread breaks help you to corner and maneuver better than ever. I have tried the Adidas 1.1's and Nike 360's over ther years, but this simply is the best shoe I have ever run in, and the price is great. Pick this shoe up and Just Do It!
