No shoe comes close to ...

By Ron from PA

Comments about Mens Nike Free 5.0 v3 Running Shoe:

No shoe comes close to Nike Free. I used to be able to buy them at the local mall, but it seems you can only find them online anymore. I will never go back to any other shoe. I use them for running. I also use them for playing basketball. Some people think i am crazy because the shoe doesnt have support, but i think it is the best shoe for fast paced sports. Our ankles are made to do the things they do, these shoes allow you full motion like being bear foot. If you look at alot of basketball players that wear high tops, they always get high ankle sprains. I think shoes with to much stubility actrually cause more injuries then they prevent. I used to sprain my ankles all the time playing basketball before i found this shoe. This shoe is great.

Comments about Mens Nike Free 5.0 v3 Running Shoe:

Maybe I got a bad pair, but the strap that goes over the base of my toes is way too tight, and I have a B width foot. I thought part of the barefoot running gait is that the toes spread out to disperse force. With that strap, my toes aren't going anywhere. Other than that, I like the midsole and they feel more durable than v1.

Comments about Mens Nike Free 5.0 v3 Running Shoe:

This is my third pair of frees and this is the best version yet. I am a big guy (6'4" 250lbs) and developed plantar fascitis while wearing motion control shoes. I switched to frees after reading an article in Men's Health and no longer have fascia pain. Not only that but I am a physical therapist and always recommend these to any athletes I treat with fascia discomfort. Most durable version to date and I will be buying the v4s when they come out. Great job Nike!

By Free Fan

Comments about Mens Nike Free 5.0 v3 Running Shoe:

Ran 4 sprint Triathlons sockless in the v2 last year with no problems, and have numerous friends who do the same. Sockless over 5k tends to produce toe blisters for me, but I have friends who've done olympic distance with no trouble. I can't imagine going sockless for longer distances.
I had severe shin splints in the past with Asics and Saucony. These, to my suprise have been the best running shoes I've owned. Cushioning doesn't last quite as long as say an Asic gel-kayano, but at half the price you can just get a new pair.

I would NOT use this shoe for "Indoor Soccer", it lacks any lateral stability.
