I ran in Mizunos for ...

By Spidermonkey

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax+ 11 Running Shoe:

I ran in Mizunos for years, pretty happily. I was in Mavericks for a while, then elixirs. When I had to ramp up the mileage for marathoning, the elixirs didn't cut it, so I had to step up to Inspires (I'm getting to the Nikes...) The Inspires were really beat after only 200 or so miles (and I had several pairs I rotated). The rubber on the heel wore quickly and the cushioning seemed to degrade pretty quickly, with the result that the motion injured me.
My RR staff (who had recommended the Structure Triax 11 to me to try before) suggested I give these a try because they had a bit more cushioning, a bit more motion control, and would likely last longer. My bad ankle problems went away pretty quickly, and I can see already that the Nikes are more durable than the Mizunos were. These have saved me, so I recommend for anyone like me who's having difficulties.
(I have high arches, skinny feet, and tend toward underpronation, but head toward overpronation at times...)

Not good enough for flat footed overpronators. Air Zoom cushioning inadequate for my 75kg weight. The Triax gave me shin splints, knee pain and a painful foot arch. I later bought the Asics Foundation, and never looked back.

Hands down favorite shoes ...

By Joseph

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax+ 11 Running Shoe:

Hands down favorite shoes so far. I need the stability, and I've tried almost every other stability shoe out there. I felt the Triax 10 was too clunky, but Nike got it right with this one. The ride is much smoother than the 10, great forefoot cushioning. I have about 200 miles on them and I will be getting another pair to rotate. Part of me wants to rotate a different brand, but there's nothing else I've liked as much.
One nitpick -- the fit is a little odd, in that the midfoot doesn't wrap around the top of my foot as much as the 10 or most other shoes. This has not created any issues in terms of performance, as far as I can tell.
I hope Nike doesn't change it too much with the next model.... They have a reputation of doing that.

By Taxman

Comments about Mens Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax+ 11 Running Shoe:

I ran 8 miles on these shoes out of the box, and they felt great. I am 5'11" and 177 lbs., run 30-40 miles per week, have mild pronation and an average arch. The shoes felt great, much better than the New Balance 767s and 768s, and Asics 2130. We'll see how they hold up over the long run, but initially they were very nice. I agree that the laces are a bit short. The toe box seems fine, for me. Cushioning is good. Heel strike is very comfortable. I recommend these shoes.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax+ 11 Running Shoe:

I have been searching for the "holy grail' of stability and cushioning running shoes since Nike discontinued the Air Kantera a few years ago, so I thought this shoe might meet my needs.
I like the fit of this shoe, althougth I ordered a 2EE wide, it feels like a regular width shoe to me, ( are shoes getting narrower, or my feet wider?
Anyway, my dislike is the midsole feels a bit on the firm side.
I would categorize this shoe in the Motion control section in my opinion.
I also have tried the Equalon 2s (too narrow, and not offered in a wide) and currently run in the Air Span 4s,(ok cushioning, decent stability.)
I run 20-25 mi/week, and am 6' 1" 188#, for what its worth.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax+ 11 Running Shoe:

not a big fan of Nike but i purchased these on sale and i must say these are really good shoes for pavement training. great support and just the right amount of cushioning . the only drawback is fit: the left shoe fits perfect but the right is just a little too snug on me. Asics is still my preference for fit but you won't be disappointed if you usually buy Nikes.

I love, love these shoes. I had to go to the men's shoes because the women's were just too marrow. I've had so much trouble the last 4 months finding the right shoe and I finally got there with the Triax 11. Contrary to what other reviewers have said, I find the heel the best part. The center of the heel doesn't come in contact with the ground. It's suspended, almost in a sling like position due to the way they made the shoe. Since I am a heavy heel stricker this is a huge advantage for me. I did add the RRS Cush Runner inserts and the cushioning is perfect. 5 Asics and 2 Brooks try-out later, I found the perfect shoe. I will never try another shoe again.

I have been a Asics 2000 series user for years, but the 2120 version brought on serious ankle tendon issues where I was forced to stop running to heal. I decided to take a detour from the constant stiffening by Asics engineers when I restarted running. I have almost 300 miles on these Nikes without any hint of any ankle issues and they still feel like new. My only complaint is the hard heel which I solved with very thin gel insert.

I have worn other nike shoes and been very disappointed. This is the first pair of running shoes (literally) that I can run in without blisters. I have to lace them loose as the cushioning in the front seems almost too much. After 30 miles of running they fit perfect. One pair I own has over 250 miles on them and still has cushion left. I"m a smaller runner 5'8" 160 pounds and works well for me. Buying more and when a sale comes will fill the closet with them

The only nag I have about this great shoe, is the laces seem a little short for me. I switched from the Moto model to the Triax, and they lace up a little different, so I'm not sure. Other than that, great shoe, really soft and have a great transition. I especially like the glove like fit, they fit really snug all the way through, without being too tight. Very nice, good job Nike. Was a Brooks guy, but I'm officially converted.

I tried the Structure Triax+ 11 and have had pretty good luck. The shoe is not too mushy or too firm. I'm 6'4 230. I've been running in Nikes for over 30 yrs, and can say these are pretty good shoes. The outsole still wears a little fast but other than that, no real problems. If you are a heavy heel striker or severe overpronation, don't do these shoes. You'll probably be disappointed. Irecently bought the Vomero 3's and have determined I still like the Triax+ 11 better.

Awesome shoe- replaced old gts6(got great price 2 months ago on them)- will be using these for long runs and adrenaline 8's for everything else. I am a high mileage runner(70+), 5'8, 150lbs, and these are awesome. Very responsive, mid to forefoot trans is awesome. The foot bridge is great too- not intrusive support- just there. I was afraid they would be too soft after standing on them in the store, but after a 13 right out of the box, I was telling myself these may be the best running shoe I've ever worn. I really like the Saucony Paramount (I don't have 160 bucks to throw at shoes), but these are damn near perfect. The decoupled heel for hard downhill running is awesome- very smooth. Nice job Nike- I had been wary from other people telling me Nike's suck and what not, but I'd rank these right up there with Brooks. One complaint, sort of, is that I'd like to see how long the tread holds up at the front of the shoe- I have a mean toe-off and I'm not sure the rubber up to it.

Having been terribly disappointed in the X, I looked forward to running in the XI. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out by others here, the heel feels like you're running on concrete. I've run in them three times and have had the same uncomfortable experience each time. The only saving grace is that I ran in the woods for most of the third time, thereby cushioning the landing. I have two pair of 9s left which I will continue to use. That model seemed to be much more cushioned in the heel. I just don't understand the thought process that Nike used to take a comfortable and stable shoe and turn it into essentially a piece of concrete.

Overall, these shoes are quite a disappointment. I have been running in this series for 2 years now and these shoes don't stand up to the previous 2 versions. They get 2 stars because they seem to offer good cushioning but that is about it. They are not as stable as the previous versions. I switched to the 11's a few weeks before my first marathon and they never gave me the great fit that the 9 and 10's did. I have put 140 miles on these and body can't take it anymore. I am switching back to my old 10's until I can find a new shoe. Very disappointing because the 9 and 10 were some of the best shoes I have ever worn.

Excellent shoe. My left foot was crushed in a car accident so I have issues with shoes. Walk all around 4 Disney parks in 4 days with no pain. All I have to say. Cushion is great.

I am heavier than most runners(225 lbs). I ran 8 miles out of the box with these...Seems to have much more cusion than the 10 did. Great shoe for me.

this shoe gave me the worst shin splints after 2 miles--the shoe has great feel, but sacrifices the nice ride of the triax 9. i really wish i had more triax 9's lying around...

My friend told me Nike was back. I tried this one - first Nike in 5 years. It's perfect.

Nike finally fixed the most glaring problem with the Air Structure Triax shoes. The clunky, wooden-like ride is gone without sacrificing support. I actually enjoying running in the Structure Triax+ 11.

The cushioning in the forefoot is fine; however, the heel feels like a brick. 1.25 miles into my run on asphalt, I had to stop due to severe pain on my right heel. This new version is as hard on the heels as the Triax 10. Luckily I still have 3 pairs left of the Triax 9 which have the right amount of cushioning and stability.(The Equalon+2 is also hard on the heels) I am hoping that the Triax 12 will have softer heels next year. Otherwise, I will switch to brooks or Adidas. I have normal(medium arches), light over-pronator, run around 40 miles/week, weight 143 pounds and race mainly medium distances.

Even better than the Structure 10. Looks like Nike finally figured out how to evolve shoes one year to the next. Stick to the plan and I will follow.

The toebox is too constricting, even in EE. The forefoot is too stiff and inflexible. I found it too controlling. Gave me severe shin splints.

A good fit for my feet and just enough cushioning, too. Other then the sizing (I'm wearing a 13 in this shoe?) I'm very satisfied and will be buying another pair in the future.

felt good at the start, nice stability - but 4 miles in or so feet fell asleep...maybe too snug a fit, but the air bladder just doesn't work for me...

I love the feel of this new Structure. It has a great transition from heel to fore foot without feeling like the typical brick stability shoe. It also offers a greater level of support than any other shoe I have tried on. Thanks I love the shoe!

I give ST+11 5 stars because of its great comfort and stability. I have been wearing size 11.5EE Structure Triax since it was placed on the market. I have never understood Nike's sizing scheme because with the ST+11 I couldn't even get a size 11.5EE on my foot. I tried a 12 and a 12.5 and finally settled on a size 13EE. So, Road Runner Sports needs to re-think their advice to add 1/2 size. Of course, I always trash the sorry insoles that comes in Nike Shoes. I only run about 35 mi/week.

Switched to these from Pegasus. Wore Size 12 1/2D in Pegasus. Same size in these are too small and much too narrow widthwise. Cannot understand why the sizing difference with various Nike shoes. Quality control problems in China? Priceless!!!

Was a big fan of the St10. They finally got rid of that bulky toe. This new one fits as well as the 10. Congrats to Nike for not screwing it up. I'm buying 2 pair.

Ran in Equalon 1 in Chicago 07. Did fine. Bought Equalon 2 and it hurt me. AST11 seems to work well for me. Seems more stable than EQ2 and with a higher arch. Looks good so far.

too heavy and bulky. The shoe feels like a brick. I would've given this shoe zero stars if I could. Please bring back the structure triax 2.

Finally, a Nike stability shoe in widths. I'm a 15 4E 6'4" 235lb guy, and I find a lot of the current offerings from other running shoe companies are subpar. NB 858 has a massive toebox (too big) and the 1010 is too stiff asics have no cushioning as of late, and brooks durability is not too good. This shoe is just right. Great cushion and fit with these.

To be honest, I am on my 6th pair of Triax and I find the new ones very good, though I have only done about 120miles on them. I carry a large amount of weight and run about 35miles per week. They are solid and a tad lighter than the 10's but not as much as I hoped. Definitely the best model so far in the range.
