This the best California High School racing flat for cross country. This is awesome for flat courses (like Woodbridge), or anything that is minimal in hills. I used it very successfully at Mt.Sac but wouldn't recomend it for new runners because of the lack of heel cushioning.

The Nike Waffle XC VII is an excellent cross-country racing shoe. The only down side is that you have to have a very high arch in order to enjoy them. I have low arches so they are not a comfortable shoe for myself. I wore them in 3 high school level cross country races and one steeple chase. They were not very responsive so I had to retire them early. They are an excellent spike only if you have high arches and are in the neutral area.
