great great shoe. 5'5 and 150 lbs. run 25+ miles per week and just ran a 26.2 mile marathon. Shoe is still good to go. recommend this shoe to anyone enjoys running altogether.

A good shoe but IMHO not as good as the 2. The 3 may be a little too much motion control for me. I like the Nirvana a rock solid placement which locks your foot. Also the GTS8 and Hurricane. Of them all I think the 2 is the best.

Great shoe. Much softer than Kayano 15 but still provides enough support. Buying my third pair right now.

I gave it 3 stars because I have plantar fascitis in my left foot and couldn't run in these shoes. Nothing has compared to the Air Equalon 2's except my Asics 1140's. This Equalon has a heel that is too stiff and has nowhere near as plush of a ride as the 2 did. I hear version 4 is very good.

I was hesitant at first since I normally use a wide shoe but after the first 10 to 15mi they broke in and now they feel like slippers.

On my 10th pair of Equalons and I love them. Great support and cushion. Seem to break down after 300 miles but that's okay because when they are good they are great.

Wow! I'm a 6'3" runner at 210-lbs. I normally run 3.5-4.0 miles every-other-day in NB's. I've never before been able to wear Nike in 35 years of running. When I first got these shoes I did a 3 miler and felt great. The next run (the next day) was a 3.5 miler. I'm now doing everyday at the 3.5 mile distance. These Stability+ shoes are as close to nuetral (read: perfect) to me. Great fit and support. My knees haven't felt this good in years. Thanks Nike !!!

Ran a marathon yesterday on these and developed a huge blister on one side. Not sure why b/c during 20+ training runs I did not have this issue. The toe box seems little too big for one side..maybe. BTW, Cushion dies out after 100+ miles or so..Had to get an insert

I am 5'9 215lbs, muscle bound guy. I have tried all shoes that are supposed to be for a slight over pronation like me ie: brooks beast, asics evolution, saucony hurricane...none did me service like the Nike Equalons. I have owned about 5 pair of the 3rd genaration and cant wait for the 4th generation. I am ready to run my second half marathon thanks to these great shoes.

I am 6' and was 285 when I bought the Nike Eq 3. In no time I was running pain free and Nike has a great shoe. It is well priced and so comfortable. I would campare them to a pillow top matress. Your feet are on a cushion held on it by the shoestrings. I have had them for 3 months and I run 6 miles a day, so I am not rating them only just havaing bought them. Recommend them highly. BTW, I am still 6' but now weigh 220.

Went back to the Equalon after loving the 1st gen of these great shoes! I'm a neutral runner, needs a bit of cushioning but also like stability in a training shoe...this is PERFECT! Very comfy on a 3 miler or a long run.

Thu, July 09,2009:
Very disappointing. Although the shoes felt good on the first several runs, the mid-sole broke down rapidly. After less than 200 miles the discrepancy between the hard medial support and the broken down lateral sole puts too much strain on the outside ankle, knee, and calf. I wish I had sent them back when I first noticed the problem, but thought I was over-reacting. Not any more. Weight 175, 6'0"

These are my first pair of true running shoes. Upon entering the roadrunner retail store, my heart was set on Vomero's. The clerk informed me that I am more suited for a motion control style as per my running style. I was a little bummed but at the same time, I know that making this purchase would be better in the long-run (pun intended). I've ran in these shoes 3x already and feel like a new man. I have no pain in any joints, no shin splints and my tendinitis isn't bothering me as much. I am extremely pleased with the purchase and Roadrunner for offering expert consultation. I'm 5'10 153 lbs, average 15 miles weekly....

What a revelation! I hate motion control shoes and I thought I was doomed to a life running in them, but the equalons have saved me. I am 6'2" 215# - I do about 30-40 miles per week I feel great after every run - no shin splints, plantar fascitis or knee pain (patellar tendinitis. For me these shoes have been wonderful! I plan to stock up on them - please NIKE do not change this shoe!

5'6" - 155 lbs - 25-30 mi./wk. On my 2nd pair of these. I'm a moderate overpronator, and the Equalon 3 is perfect for me. Super soft heel with a semi-soft forefoot. Please Nike, do not make any changes with this midsole! The fit and durability can be improved on, since I've ran only 260+ miles in my first pair before the stability went south and my knees started hurting again. If it lasted just a little longer (300+), I would give it a 5.

Ok. I never in my life ever thought I'd be writing a review about a running shoe. But, here goes. I am 6'2" and weigh in at about 210 lbs. I have tried all brands of "heavy runner" shoes. I bought these Nikes after comparing all reviews on this site. I took my first 4 miler in them today and I just wanted to keep runnung. They are extremely comfortable and supportive. The "ride" is smooth with excellent flexibility. Please don't quit making these shoes, Nike and you'll have a customer for the long run (pun intended).

I am 5'11", 201 lbs (overweight), and these shoes are working great for me. I was originally running in Nike Vomero+ 4's, which were far too soft and causing me to bottom out. After two weeks, my knees were killing me. I switched to these Equalons... and problem solved. I've added in some SuperFeet Orange insoles with these shoes, and the combination is working well. But the Equalons are so good for a runner of my weight, I think I would have been fine with the stock insoles. Bottom line: great balance of support and firmer cushioning for runners 170 to 210 lbs.

Very nice all around shoe. Durable, supportive, and well cushioned. I loved the cushioning in the front of the shoe. I weigh about 205 and I am 6ft2 and these work very well for me. Very nice job Nike!!!

3 runs on my new nike kicks. So far these are great shoes. I have shunned Nike for years in favor of brooks but I decided to give these a try because of the high rating, and I wasn't disappointed. 5'10", 180lb, 20-25 miles per week.

Great shoe! Returned a pair of asics gt-2140's that I hated. This is the most supportive shoe that I have ever ran in. Well worth more $ over the triax.

For years I thought that it was a gimmick to buy these types of shoes, and that a $25 dollar bargain shoe is enough for jogging. Now I am older and heavier and the impact causes more pain than it used to. So I decided to buy these shoes and was pleasantly surprised. After 6 miles or jogging I feel no pain and the ride is extremely smooth. I will definitely buy another pair to have as a backup.

6ft, 190, high arches - weekly running ~ 35-50 miles. Big fan of the Vomeros 1 & 2, but the 3s didn't work out for me and I developed shins and knees issues. By reading these reviews, I decided to try the Equalon and so far they seem to help very much. There's plenty of cushion and support, and they are very responsive during heel to toe transition. They feel very similar to the Vomero 2s, but with more support. 34 miles so far, I will do an update later.

I had been running in neutral shoes for years. However, I started to increase milage in preparation for my first marathon. I got up to 12 miles and I started getting hip flexor and knee pain on one leg. I noticed my neutral shoes were leaning toward the inside after a couple of long runs. I switched to these and the pain is totally gone. I have added a pair of blue superfeet and the support is great. Very good cushioning. Superfeet insole fixed lack of arch support for me--I have high, flexible arches. I'm 6'1", 195 lbs and run 25-30 miles per week.

no more shin splints. I was running in the air equalon 2 using the green superfeet insoles pretty much eliminated my shin pain but I still wasnt able to put in a lot of miles. Then these came out I put the super feet insoles and had knee pain so I switched insoles to Polysorb moldable. No more pain anywhere. Great combination for eliminating shin pain.

I have had three pairs of Hurricane 9s and since they are now scarce, I thought I'd give these a try. Put them on today for a 7 mile tempo run, and had gone a mile before I remembered I had new shoes on! I'm impressed.

Great shoe! I'm 6'2" and 205. Have run in cushioned shoes (Asics Nimbus)for years and slowly developed bunion & big toe callus on Rt foot. Needing more stability, I tried Brooks Trance 7 which had improved, but still not enough, stability. Equalon+3 really fits the bill. Just the right stability, and better cushiion than the Trance. Doing long runs over 20 miles and feet feel great. I'll buy more!

Fantastic shoe! Great blend of cushioning and stability. Had previously tried the Trance 8 but they didn't provide me with the forefoot cushioning I needed and I ended up with constantly sore feet. The Equalon 3 took care of that issue for me. Would highly recommend this shoe to anyone who falls in the "stability plus" category.

Fri, March 13,2009:
I have run in the Nike Air Pegasus pretty much my entire life and find the Equalon 3+ to be a modest improvement in comfort, stability, cushion and performance. I have always enjoyed the neutral feel of the Pegasus but really appreciate the moderate stability and added forefoot cushion of the Equalon. For all of the heel strikers out there, this shoe has a very nice and subtle forward rollout that reduces impact stress in the knee and hip. These are slightly heavier (a couple of ounces) than the Air Pegs, and should not be considered to be a relevant factor in buying this shoe. (If you think it is too heavy, my advice would be to get stronger, lose weight, and run more). I think that if you like the Air Pegs and want to increase your mileage (40+) the Equalon is the way to go. This shoe is well suited for my low to average arches, mild to moderate pronation (I usually had some mild pain after running on the outside of my knees at the joint and in my hip flexors, which is now absent aft

Mon, March 09,2009:
Definitely the bestof all the "stability" shoes I have used so far. Very durable, comfortable cusion, very good response. Forefoot could be a little wider and softer for me to allow easier roll-off, and on longer runs (20+ miles) the extra ounce or two (compared e.g. to the Vomero 3) take their toll on your legs.

These are fantastic shoes! I was previously wearing Wave Nirvana 4's, which ended up giving me plantar fasciitis in my left heel. I need a soft, cushy shoe that is flexible since I have falling arches. This shoe delivers and then some. Please Nike, DO NOT CHANGE THIS SHOE!!!!!

Amazing shoe with great cushioning and stability. I compared this to the Triax 11, Brooks GTS 8 and Asics GT2130, but this shoe is by far the most comfortable.

Great shoe, I was / still am a big fan of the Adistar Control / Salvation. The Equalon's are now my favorite. When running high mileage (for me is 40 mi. / wk)I get aches and pains in my knees and hamstrings. With the Equalon's the pain is either gone or completely minimized.

Thu, November 06,2008:
This is a case of "Goldie Lockes and the 3 Bears." The Equalon 1 was more of a motion control shoe-Papa Bear. The Equalon 2 lost support and were too cushy-Mama Bear. And now the Equalon 3 is just right-Baby Bear. It has nice support and cushioning but not too cushy. Is a bit stiffer than the Equalon 2's. I am a bigger runner (200+ lbs) who needed more support without being a motion control. For me, the Equalon 3 hits the mark. I do get a little rub on the inside heel of my right foot though that is causing a blister. I got the same thing with the Equalon 2's so it may just be my mechanics or I am not tieing my shoe snug enough on the right. I am happy Nike listened to the complaints of the 2 and improved them on the Equalon 3. While not a perfect shoe, I am enjoying my runs in the Equalon 3.

Thu, October 30,2008:
Runs more stable than the equalon 2 and the cushlon is somewhat more supportive, but the shoe is still too soft for larger runners needing stability, IMO. Nike needs a durable shoe like the equalon 1 for larger runners who overpronate-just get rid of one or two of the shox models and substitute an equalon 1 clone shoe.
