Been wearing the Peg ...

By Bud

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus+ 26 Running Shoe:

Been wearing the Peg since its inception about 25 years ago. There have been mostly good peg yearly additions but there have been some bad years too. The last two yearly revisions-25/26- have given me too many problems. We're all somewhat sore after a run, but with the 26/26; I feel like I'm beaten up after every run. Ankles, knees, and hips hurt like heck. And lately, my feet are hurting too. I switched to Brooks and have had no similar complaints. I won't buy Nike anymore, their quality just isn't what it used to be. I have several podiatrist friends in a local running club and asked them about whether they'd recommend Nike shoes. 100% said absolutely not and recommended Asics, Brooks, and New Balance.

Great running shoes. I just started running again for three weeks and I don't have any problems. They are just perfect. I run only on the road so I need good shock absorbation and these shoes do the trick. Good investment and very comfortable shoes!"

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus+ 26 Running Shoe:

This is a great shoe. I had to give it five stars to bring up the overall rating. It deserves to be at least a four star shoe and you won't find a better shoe for the price. To everyone who thinks they run out too quickly they are probably wearing them everyday for casual wear. These are running shoes and should be treated as such. I ran 3x/week putting at least 30 miles per week on one pair and they lasted over a year before I felt they were no longer good enough for mid-long runs. If you can still find a pair grab them...quickly.

Male, 5-11, 182lbs, avg 30 miles/week. Air Pegasus have been kind to me over the years. Wandered away to Saucony a couple times but they always were inferior and caused ankle, knee or shin problems. Always went back to Air Peg's and all problems stop. Tried Air Peg +27's, not better guys...sorry. I have recently purchased 3x pairs of +26's.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus+ 26 Running Shoe:

I've had 4 pairs of Pegasus 26's. They tend to last me about 350 to 400 miles. I'm pretty hard on shoes and they hold up - I run a mix of road, trails and then hybrid runs where pavement and trail are equal. I have a narrow foot and medium arch and these shoes seem to wear well on my feet. Definitely recommend them - I'm loyal with shoes and will be until I run in a pair I like better.

I really liked the shoes except for the blister on my right big toe. I have never had a blister there before. I got a 1/2 size bigger as directed and I would have traded for a 1/2 sized smaller, but they didn't stock the shoes in that size. The left shoe was nice. I have always liked the pegasus.

A comfortable running show so far, but it's clear to me after 3 weeks that it is not a long-last running shoe. This is my first pair of Nike after wearing New Balance for the past 2 years. The Nike is just as comfortable, but I would like to see the quality improve; we get what we pay for.

I am a heavy midfoot runner with nearly neutral footstrike. The shoe did a perfect job on short, middle and long distances.
It is a solid running shoe like the old pegasus was.

Be aware, the new Peg 27 has no full cushion from heel to forefoot!!!.

I have run in an Air Pegasus shoe for ten years. In 1978, my first pair of running shoes were Nike LDVs. I strayed to the competition for a couple of decades; but I have been with AP for a long time. They are everything I need and want. I have several dead pairs that I threw in the washing machine and wear to the weight room. They last long beyond their running utility. I love Air Pegasus, my wife and son also run in them.

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus+ 26 Running Shoe:

Run on trails and roads, about 35 miles per week. Reasonably good biomechanics, mostly neutral, few injuries. Shoe feels good on most surfaces. Breaths pretty well and somewhat cushiony but not too much. Older versions seemed to last longer; can get about 250-300 miles before retiring for walking or gardening shoes. Some year's versions seem better than others, but this is still the shoe for me.

I usually run on rough terrain and I like a shoe that provides good support, has an aggressive tread, and works well in inclimate weather. This shoes is a great for running.

I've only put a couple hundred miles on these, so I can't speak to durability. But these just seem perfect to me. Nagging problem with tendinitis and leg cramps are ancient history. I've bought one backup pair, and may buy more!

Comments about Mens Nike Air Pegasus+ 26 Running Shoe:

After entering to run my first half marathon, I needed a good shoe that would fit my narrow sized (8) foot. I was concerned that I would have to spend [$] or more since typical shoes for men are medium or wide unless you spend [$]. After buying this shoe and training for several weeks it has always fit like a glove and has offered great support while being breathable and comfortable at all times. I love this shoe! When I found out that Nike was planning on updating it with the Pegasus 27 I decided to buy another pair even though my current pair has not worn out yet. For a man who has trouble finding great shoes that fit for a good price (around[$]), the Nike Pegasus 26+ is a breath of fresh air!

For the last 2 years all my runs have been with a German Shepherd a friend gave me. The running constantly takes me on and off the road. The Pegasus is good for this as my feet don't roll in the shoe as the terrain changes. So they are good on and off the road. Plus they are durable enough to take the everyday beating these runs dish out without giving me any shoe-related injury.

I bought these shoes while training for the Columbus half-marathon. They felt great straight out of the box - I was worried about blisters and breaking them in but from my first run (10 miles) on they have been fantastic.
I have loved the fit and feel of these shoes and highly recommend them to any runner. They are lightweight, breathable and have great traction.

Good comfortable, well made shoe, but the difference in the quality of materials between the Peg, and the Vomero is like Toyota and Lexus. Be forewarned, you get what you pay for..

I ordered in a B width. I was pleased with this option. I have used them for 2 weeks. It is a great shoe for value, fit and performance. If you are a high mileage runner consider another model or plan for early replacement of AIR PEGASUS so you are always running on a fresh pair.

One of the best shoes with good cushioning and the price is always a lot less than similar shoes in other brands. I use it for my regular runs and have put on 500+ on my last pair. I wish though Nike could reduce the weight down to 10oz or so.

Tried them. Cushy, but too stiff. If you land heel first, the transition isn't too bad, but if you're a midfoot striker, (like I am), it's too much work to get from the midfoot onto the balls of your feet. Currently, the Vomero is the only good cushioned shoe that Nike makes.

Still ran with the shoes enduring the pain and bandages. After 100 miles the heal cup was broken in and the shoes were no problem. Running with them in my next marathon and ultramarathon this month.

I don't really know what people are talking about. This shoe is great. I usually run in New Balance. Currently run in the 1063s and in the 758s. Those are very good shoes. This shoe is very much up to par. 1063 heel to toe is the more superior than these, the cushioning in the heel is plusher in these more than the 758s, but the materials seem to be better in the NBs. These Nikes seem to have cheaper materials but it really does not take away from the performance. It seems to be well built. This really is a very plush no bells and whistles neutral running shoes. Do have to complain about the short laces. Forget about trying to use any different lacing or knotting patterns.

I bought a pair since I have not worn the Pegasus since the mid 1990s. I usually wear Brooks Glycerins. Well, was I disappointed. I have 125 miles on these and they're worn out on the soles. I have had knee and hip pain like other people say. I won't be buying Nike in the future. And Nike used to have the best quality running shoes.

Well his new Pegasus is an interesting shoe. I have run in the past with the Asics Nimbus 10 and the Nike Vomero 3. Basically this is Vomero minus a few bells and whistles and a more snug fitting upper. The upper is actually a better fit for me as the Vomero was always a tad wide in the forefoot. The kicker here is the price difference of $45! It's strange how this shoe has received Luke warm reviews while the Vomero's always get the five stars. Let me state the facts again, this has the same exact sole as the Vomero and the same ride. The upper also has a similar feel with the exception of a slightly more snug fit and the shoes weights are so similar it's a non issue. Great value!

You may want to try replacing the Nike Pegasus insole with a Brooks Universal Insole which will fit very nicely. The Nike Pegasus insole is very stiff and the Brooks insole is very flexible like it was with the insole of the 2004 Pegasus.

I was really skeptical when reading the negative reviews. I've worn these Pegasus models for over 20 years. Guess what? The reviews were accurate. I've never rated shoes before. I called Nike to express my disappointment and was dismissed by a rep who said I was the only complainer. Don't buy this model.

First several runs were great. Good feel, cushioning, overall comfort. BUT then the shoes started breaking down, less cushion, bad toe to heel cycle and after about 50 miles the outer soles began wearing away. For $76 this quick wearout is unacceptable quality.

I am 65 years young and been running since the 1950s. Not as fast though. The Pegasus have been my shoe of choice since 1988. Some years since 1988 were good, some bad for these shoes. the 2009 edition leaves a lot to be desired. The cushioning is fantastic, but as other reviewers have stated; the heel toe cycle is very bad and the durability is poor. I have about 100 miles on mine and the soles are wearing quickly. One reviewer said he had 750 miles on his-great. That's the average wearout I had with Nike's shoes in the 1990s but today I feel good with 200 miles max.

I'm training for a D1 college and am using the Pegasus this summer to log 750+ mileage. These shoes are comfortable and have good support to keep me injury free (so far). I'm not sure why everybody else is complaining but I'm pretty sure I am logging the most miles out of anybody on this review and they are all whining like a bunch of babies. This is a good shoe.

Nike, I give up. Your shoes used to be the greatest. These are pretty bad-my knees hurt and my Achilles and calf muscles are begging for help after ONLY 4 runs of 5 miles each in these shoes or whatever they are supposed to be. If you can't do any better, Nike, stop making these poor excuses for running shoes, period!!!

After my first review I need to change it. After 3 runs of 3-4 miles my forefoot was basically bruised. Nothing like the 2007 pegs - almost too soft. Not enough forefoot cushioning and the toe box is too big. Really frustrating being a peg wearer since 2000 and even back in the 80's. Maybe 2010.

These shoes fit my foot far better that the +25 Pegasus and I think they have better cushioning as well. The shoes I received were fine quality wise. I've run in these shoes at least 6 or 7 times so far and have had no problems with them.

I don't want to switch brands but this baloney has to stop or any other brand, here I come with my hard earned money!!!

This shoe is much better than +25. If you liked the 2007 pegs, you should be OK with this shoe. I could not wear the +25. Not enough cushion in the forefoot and the fit was not good. +26 has more cushioning, transition and a better all around fit. They do seem a little baggier in the forefoot but the lacing allows you to tighten. It is heavier than the +25 but lighter than 2007 pegs. Durability should be fine as with most pegs.

Ran a 5 miler on the beach with these shoes each day for a week. The cushioning is great. The heel to toe transition cycle is really bad. It's like your feet are slapping the sand with each stride. I thought a week of running in them would correct the problem but it didn't. Plan to use them and will update in a few weeks but first reaction to them is very negative.

I sent my pair back for a refund. I do not comprehend what Nike is trying to do with poor manufacturing quality. I have had good running years with Pegasus and would like to continue. As for now' I will order pairs of the 2008 edition.

One the shoe sits about 1/2 inch higher than the left. That'll create a leg length problem quickly. Two, the right heel counter is set at an angle that mismatches with the left shoe heel counter. These are visible manufacturing defects. Where was Nike's quality control. I know their respose will be I just got a bad pair os shoes. Right!!!! This pair goes back to RRS asap.
