Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

I'm 6'1" and weight 180lbs and I train for marathons and triathlons, typically logging between 20 - 40 miles per week. I run mostly on pavement with the occasional trail thrown in. I'm coming from the Asics Kayano 15, which I still have as my alternate shoe and still very much like...but it's a different feel than the Equalon 4.

Admittedly, I only have about 30 miles on the EQ 4, but so far I really like them. The cushioning is the softest I've ever run in, and I've been in some high cushion shoes (Asics Kayano, Mizuno Nirvana...etc). As soon as I put them on it's noticeable...very soft. Some might say too soft, but I like it as I tend to be hard on shoes. To give a more illustrative comparison, the Asics Kayano if very cushioned too, but feels like a more firm kind of cushion, where as the Nike is a softer, spongier cushion. Hope that makes sense. It's like comparing a memory foam pillow to a down filled pillow. Sorta of. :)

The fit is good, mostly. I'm really able to lock my heel down, which I like, but the instep area feels a bit sloppy, guess I'm used the the Kayano's offset lacing. The toebox is nice and roomy, which I really like.

The EQ4 rides a little lower to the ground with a wider footprint than the Kayano, or most other shoes I've run in lately, and I really like that feeling. Typically, when I've been in a shoe that felt closer to the ground I felt like it lacked cushioning a bit, but not in this case. The wide base feels very stable as well. I'm a pretty severe over-pronater and the stability in this shoe hasn't let me down yet.

Flexibility. Wow. I'm used to shoes with a lot of stability and cushion to be pretty rigid and heavy, especially the Nirvana. The Nike just feels a bit lighter than what I'm used to and the flexibility in the forefoot is such a nice change of pace. I can really flex my foot and it causes me to be much less aware of my shoe when I'm running. Feels more natural, which I suppose is the point, right?

Some of the negatives...the materials, in spots, feel a bit cheap for the price. Guess I got spoiled with the memory foam collar and articulated tongue in the Kayano...the Nike just has cheap, thin foam in those areas. Other than that, not a ton to complain about...and that's being nitpicky.

Overall, I'd definitely get another pair as they're working so far. Haven't tested them on anything over 8 miles, but I'm hopeful they'll remain on my short list of 'go to' shoes.

Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

A little about me. I am 6'0 220 pound. I run about 4 times/week averaging about 12-15 miles. I have yet to find a shoe that is completely comfortable...but this shoe comes close. It has a nice cushioned ride and feels fairly lightweight. The one con I think is that the foot bed tends to cause a little bit of friction which I can feel at the end of my runs. I have tried a variety of different socks..but to no avail. For a medium width I think that most people would think that it is a tad bit narrower then what they are used to. If you are a heavy runner with narrower feet then this is a good shoe for you.

Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

This shoe is great. I've tried New Balance, Asics, and Brooks with no luck. These shoes have a perfect balance of cushioning, support, and overall comfort. They are a little pricey, but worth the few extra bucks. I'm 5'10" 190lbs with flat feet and two bad knees and a bad ankle from 15 years in the Army. I run 20-25 miles per week and with these new Nikes, I am able to do so without any pain or discomfort. I plan on buying a second pair soon.

as a 230 lb runner (10-15 miles week) with wide feet, couldn't find a comfortable shoe for years, the ZOOM EQUALON+ 4's are extremely comfortable and adds the extra cushioning for the feet/knees..would highly recommend for the 200lb+ runner, really helped my runs

Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

I run 3 times per week and weigh 225lbs. The 1st time I ran in the shoes they felt like I have been wearing them for weeks. I liked them so much I bought a second pair to alternate between runs. My only wish is that they had other colors to choose from otherwise super comfortable and just enough cushion for a heavy runner.

I bought these to alternate with my current pair of Asics Gel Kayanos (this has been my go to shoe for several years). I needed a stability shoe with good cushioning. Been battling Plantar Faciitus for six months. The Gel Kayanos work fine but I wanted to try something else. I love these shoes. Better cushioning than the Asics, lighter and stability just as good. This is my new go to shoe.

Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

Well, let me start by saying that I used to race at a high level until multiple knee surgeries to both knees. Orthopedic surgeons have told me that I need a knee replacement. At 40 yrs I stopped running and racing, but the knees got worst. While coaching other triathletes they convinced me to try racing again after 6 years. I thought it would be impossible, but I did my research. Nike Equalon had the most reviews with description of cushioning and stability.

Bottom line these shoes allowed me to compete in a 70.3 ironman in 2009. There is comfort, support and cushioning which made my running feel almost painless.

I am still running and will compete this year again. I could not have run without these shoes period. If you are looking for shoes to help with growing old, these are it.

I also used the carbon inserts with these shoes to get the most of my running time. I do highly recommend these shoes for those who enjoy running, but injuries and surgeries have limited your enjoyment and distance.

Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

Agree with Michael as it's cushioned like version 2 but alot more stable, especially at heel strike. Good for long runs. For me, not very good with heel to toe transition but then again S+/MC shoes aren't known for it. If you're a heel striker/over pronator and need good heel stability and lots of cushion for long runs consider this shoe. Snug heel wrap, a bit narrow mid but unusual longer toe box. Ran in v.2 and tried v.3 both I needed 1/2 size up for both but this shoe is true size for me. I do feel the upper material seems cheap compared to the previous versions. Seems lighter than 12oz but not very good breathability... feet were burning hot after just a 4 mile run. Hopefully it gets better.

40 year runner, 5' 8", 175 lbs., now average 25-40 miles/week, depending on time of year. Have used the Air Equalon since it's introduction, and now on 5th pair of +4 version. Used 2 pair to train for, and run '09 NYC marathon. Switched to this shoe when knee problems almost forced me to cut back, or give up running. Over the years, have tried every major brand of shoe, many of which were OK, but this shoe just works for me.

I havent run in them yet, as I am recovering from knee surgery. They have helped me a lot with walking though, as I have been walking in an effort to get back and these shoes are so comfortable. They definitely help with therapy and I would recommend them anytime. Virtually feel no impact as I walk and they are light

Great shoe. This is my 14th or 15th pair. I started with the first Equalon and have been happy ever since. Very comfortable.

Almost every pair has held up well for about 250-300 miles. I run mostly on pavement but do it in all kinds of weather -- extreme heat, rain and snow -- and they always feels good. A couple have worn down faster but they are the exception.

I'm a woman and I buy these shoes because I am 6 feet tall, lift weights, and run like a maniac in the hills. I am brutal on these shoes and they hold up nicely. It's like running on marshmallows they are so comfy and squishy. I put about 20+ miles on them each week in the trails.

Moved to this shoe from ASICS. Best decision I ever made. I am 6 feet tall and 190 pounds and a pretty heavy heel striker. This shoe provides plenty of cushion (). Durable, good looking, and a great all-around running/gym shoe.

Comments about Mens Nike Zoom Equalon+ 4 Running Shoe:

This was the second pair of Equalons I have owned and have liked both pairs. They are kind of pricey, but I was able to catch a sale on RRS.
I run 30-35 miles per week on pavement, treadmill, and sometimes trail. These shoes are excellent for pavement, road, and treadmill. I am about 190 pounds and have almost 20 years of active duty military service, so my legs have had quite a bit of abuse. These almost eliminate all joint pain from the pavement pounding. They are very comfortable and give just the right amount of support for me on even terrain.
I would not recommend these shoes for trails or rugged terrain. I dont feel like they were built with that in mind, but some may.

overall they are an excellent pair of shoes.

I've been spending time and money trying to find the right shoes and since I tried Equalon4 I think I found my shoe mate! I am training for my first marathon and all the shoes I tried after 10 miles they gave me blisters or knee pain...I already ran 12 miles in them and I felt great..Good for Overpronator, 180lbs looking for those long miles to be less painful...Good job Nike

Love these shoes, I'm a bigger guy 210lbs and these are a joy to run in. Very soft landings and easy on the knees. I've wore Asics Kayanos for years but was looking for a change. I found it when Nike add with sizing on these.

Had 2 pairs of the Equalon 3's. The 4 has the exact same midsole and rides just like the 3. Only changes to the shoe were the upper which has a narrower fit-good for me since I have a "B" width foot. The 4 does not feel anything like the 2's which were very soft and squishy-could not run in those. If you liked the feel of the 3's then you should like the 4's. Wide footer runners might have to go for the 2E width.

Really good shoe. It feels more like the Equalon 2 which, for me, is awesome. I wear superfeet inserts and the "softness" that most reviewers are referring to is neutralized a bit. I can't rate a five, because I'm saving that for the two! Had 4 pairs of the two's and wanted to buy more. The three was stiffer and had a strip at the forefoot that pinched my little toe. It was great to see that Nike adjusted that on this model. This is great , especially for long runs.

i really like this latest version equalon for better stability, without being too soft. also, the previous version wasn't available in a 2EE width, and this one is. the prev. version I had was soft, but too long since I had to "order up" a half size larger. I also run in Triax series, and I see they have an update now too. The Triax series for me is a little on the firm side, as I wear orthotics in my shoes, these feel "Just Right".

Ignore the rating,I haven't run in the equalon 4. I have had good success with the equalon 3 and and would like more feedback as to the whether the new version is softer/less stable. Nike seems to believe that every runner, not just neutral runners, needs softer and softer shoes, like version 2 of the shoe. If the fourth version goes back to the second, I will stock up with the equalon 3 while available.

Very plush shoe, but feels less stable than the Equalon 3. Seems that cushion is up, but guidance is down from the 3 series. Flexibility seems higher in the 4, and toe box and shoe length feel slightly smaller, but that could be due to the cushioning. Tried a half size up from my 3's, but stuck with same shoe size when purchasing.

Keeps gettin better with the Equalon. I am 5'9 215lbs and I need a good stability + shoe for my IT band and runners knee. This shoe is the best in the market. Wearing one now and put the other one on ice! =)

Wow! What an update! The new Equalon is lower profile and sports a serious medial wedge. I own most of the stability plus shoes from other manufacturers and this one may well be the best out there right now. Positives-great lateral release, arch near the heel, excellent cushion-not jarring or clunky like many in this category can be. Really helps neutralize my stride.Top shelf sockliner. Negatives-may wear prematurely due to the amount of cushion(unmatched in the stability plus category)mine are already creasing some. Shoe fits a hair wide but Balega Hidden Comfort socks take up any extra room. In total it's a a comfortable, stable daily shoe that may have a short life due to its softness.

I'm a 150lb, normal arch, 30 mi / week runner and have had great success with the Nike Zoom Equalon+ 3. Over the last 6 years I've used Mizuno, Adidas, Asics, and Nike and this shoe by far provides the most stability and cushion. Excellent support for long runs.

Just wondering it these shoes fit as short as the Triax 12, which I find to be at least a full size small.
