Decent Shoe

4

The lunaracer is a pretty decent shoe. in my opinion its far from excellent. The shoe was comfortable right out of the box, but felt constricted in my toe area. I normally wear a 9 in running shoes but went a size up in these and they were still tight and somewhat short. so id say go a full size up. I either became used to the tightness or its stretched out, but its better now. Th shoe performs great in tempos, and moderate in intervals, but lacks in long runs. My first long run in these was about 10 miles on pavement and after the 6th mile i could feel my feet and ankles starting to hurt. So for the non-efficient runner dont go past 6 miles on any surface(tried it on track also, complete dud in grass). Later I began getting shin splints, i believe its because of the large heel forcing a heel strike, so i've switched to a midfoot/forefoot and im fine now. I tend rub my right pinky toe alot and it began to hurt and now its black. I feel perfectly fine when in the 5.30 min mile range and on up to 7 min. A lively springy feel from this shoe kind of makes running fun. Great cushioning in midfoot less in forefoot. Overall a decent shoe shoe despite its setbacks. But a wider toe box and smaller heel would be greatly appreciated. (P.S.-i've gotten about 200 miles out of the shoe so far and it still feels and looks as lively as the first day i bought it.)

So far, so very good.

Let me start by saying that I've only worn these shoes 3 times for a total of 20 miles. That said, I got them [...] strapped them on and jumped right on the treadmill. I don't normally run on the treadmill but I didn't want to get the new shoes wet. I immediately did not like them because I thought the toebox was too tight. They are MUCH different than my other shoes (Vomero, Kayano, Nimbus) and they felt very constricting. I put them back in the box with the intention of sending them back right away. A couple of days later, I decided to just wear them around the house for a while to see if they felt any different. After a couple of hours, they didn't feel so tight. I took them out for an 8 miler and came back glowing. I'm amazed at how comfortable they are for their weight. The soles are supple but still offer plenty of cusioning. What a great ride! So far, I'm super-impressed with these shoes and look forward to spending many more miles with them. The only negative that I can see might be for people with wider feet. The medium width (not sure if there are any other widths available) is pretty narrow. As long as I wear thin socks, they fit my foot like a glove.

Great racing/training shoe

5

This is now my standard marathon/half training and racing shoe. I had two pair of the original Lunaracer and am not on my second of the Lunaracer 2. The have a very resilient cushioning that is thin, soft at strike, but firm upon landing that is perfect for me (170 lbs). I also like the flexibility. They seem to last much longer than you would think for a racing flat, which helps. FWIW, I actually run with these on SoCal trails twice a week (hard pack) and they do just fine. I have run two marathons in them and had no unusual problems (one black toe nail, non lost, typical for me). My only complaint would be that I get some rubbing on my big toes (end and inside) even though I went a 1/2 up and my toe is not near the front of the shoe. The upper could use some tweaking compared to the Lunaracer 1, but overall a very good shoe.

Great for Road Races!

4

Nike's Lunar is making me a convert from Asics and Mizuno! Just bought these and ran a 3.5 mile race in them on roads in 90 degree temps. Nice cushioning and arch support. They run a half size small and a little tight width wise. (I almost went up a full size). But really nice transition and cushioning for such a light shoe. I'd make it slightly wider, but otherwise, Nike has a a winner in this shoe. I'd like Nike to come out with a more cushioned version of this shoe for longer races like Halfs and Marathons - something like their discontinued Lunar Trainers, but this shoe is great for 10K's and below for me.

I buy this product again and again.

5

I have found the racing flat for me. Even though it is light weight, it cushions the landing for even my long runs. This is an all distance trainer for me. Although Nike tends to more aptly fit the flat-footed runner (which I am not), this particular shoe provides arch support in an ideal fashion. I wear this shoe as a work shoe with my scrubs after I have worn out its running value. I continue to buy this shoe over and over.

Perfect for Boston Marathon and Beyond!

5

I ran with these in the Boston marathon and they were perfect! I was a bit worried that they would give me the support for all the hills since they were so light, but it was no problem. My feet and legs honestly never felt so good after a marathon (plus I ran a personal best time). I love these, but think they may be best suited for those who are a little on the lighter side (i'm 5' 11" 160lbs) so make sure and test them before the big day!

Great Shoe

5

This is a great shoe. It is light weight with great cushioning. I was very surprised at how nice and cushiony this shoe is. I have a wide forefoot and this shoe accommodates my foot really well. Someone with a narrow foot might feel this shoe is a little baggy feeling, but it seem like the upper stretches to accommodate my feet. I have only run about 50 mile in this shoe, so I am interested in see how durable this shoe ends up being.

Skeptical at first but now I'm convinced

4

I've raced in the original lunar racer since it came out and loved it. When I had to get the lunar racer 2 I wasn't immediately impressed. I kept them in the closet until my last pair of original lunar racers wore out. My first real run in the 2's was my first marathon. No problems at all and I qualified for Boston. I would recommend 1/2 size larger.

Great lightweight minimalist shoe.

5

I use these for marathon training. I tried the (nearly)barefoot running thing and ended up with a stress fracture. I got these because i wanted something simple, lightweight, and with a little more cushioning. The only con is that they're wearing out a little quicker than normal. but, i do plan on replacing them because overall my legs/feet are happy with these shoes.

Great shoe for race prep

5

I am 6'2'' and 180 lbs with flat feet. Been using these for Marine Corps Marathon prep and a few other races. Great comfort and light as can be. Used them for 16 miles recently and my feet were not sore the next day. Definitely take heed by "size 1/2 size up" as Nike tends to have their minimalist shoes run small. Converted from Brooks to Nike.

ALMOST great update!

4

The forefoot has much more stretch than expected, so wide feet don't shy away! While the added weight doesn't bug me...the extra arch support compared to its predecessor does. Nothing near unbearable, just a tad discomfort on longer runs where form starts to get lazy.

Great long distance shoe!

5

I am using these shoes to prepare for a marathon and they have more cushion than any shoe I've ever purchased. They are a little snug at first, but they stretch and feel fine now. They are super light too. When these wear out I will replace with the same ones.

Nice lightweight shoe with good support

4

Great shoe that is lightweight and offers just enough support. I am 6'1" and 180 lbs and use both for racing as well as long runs (10 + miles). Only complaint is that toe box is narrow and compresses the foot a bit. Usually stretches during the course of the run however.

Nike LunaRacer +2

My son has worn the LunaRacer since they were introduced. He says this generation is more durable than the last generation which wore out quickly. He loves the flywire and the light weight. He uses them to run 5Ks.

Order a bigger size

4

These are tight little shoes. I wear a size 9 street shoe and 9 1/2 running shoe. I had to return my online order for a size 10. I've never worn a size 10 before in my life. Also the shoe lacks a rigid counter around the heel. I think the shoe would feel more stable if it had one.

5

Right out of the box, I ran a 7 miler and felt great the entire time in the Lunaracer+ 2. This shoe is extremely light and the materials feel like they're high quality. I can't say much about the durability as I've only used them on one run so far, but they're super light, very comfortable, and look pretty slick too.

Great shoe for neutral runners

The best superlightweight shoe that I have used. The shoe has a spongy feel when running. I have used for everything from 5k to marathon distance.

5

I love the updates to this shoe. I can't tell a weight difference when the shoe is on my feet and can barely tell the difference with the shoes side my side. However, the comfort is night and day. The tongue is a little more padded and there is just the right amount of extra support in the arch. The also added two rubber pieces to a place that was a high wear area for me. Great job Nike.

Only shoe I run in

5

Lunar racers are my everday shoe for the roads and trails. Ran the Hardrock 100 in them and had no foot issues. They are more durable than one would expect and have great cushioning. I really like the lack of the typical hunk of plastic in the back of the shoe. The lack of structure has really helped my Achilles issues. Only downside is the lack of traction on loose trails and snow.

My 19 year old son loves them!

5

My son is 19 and so hard to please when it comes to shoes. He couldn't believe how lightweight and comfortable they feel. The color is limited or he would own several more. He has several pairs of Nike free which come in at 9 oz. these come in at 6 oz. He says it feels like running in your bare feet. If the color was other than(neon green/grey)they would be great with jeans.

I use the Racer for fast road work, intervals on the track and racing. If you like a light shoe; this one is for you. It has remarkable cushion and support for such a light shoe.

Great update

5

The Lunarracer 2 is a great update because it feels the same as the Lunarrace 1 with some minamal tweaks! The outsole is more durable as they added more carbon rubber. The overlay across the toe box was removed for a better fit.
