I loved the original LunaRacer. I don't love these, the LunaRacer 2's. Don't get me wrong, they're a great shoe. I just don't love the supposed improvements put into place. First off the additional blown rubber on the sole makes the shoe have a noisier landing. They don't feel as pillow soft as the originals. My heel slips in these as chews up my heel. My heel got chewed up in the originals but not due to slippage. They also weigh an extra ounce over the originals. I also felt the added arch support immediately and didn't like it. A few things I do like...the toe box is roomier and the overlays are now all on the outside. I'm stocking up on the original for now and hoping the LunaRacer 3 isn't as disappointing.

Since Nike first came out with the original Lunar racer I have used it for nearly all of my runs...with that said, there were some major issues that I had with them and I was hoping that the new design would address them. At first when I tried them on, I was not sure, but after wearing the +2's on a run I am very impressed with the improvements. The toe box is not anywhere near as narrow and uncomfortable as the original racers, and Nike has also put in a heel notch and a little more padding to keep the shoe from chewing up the back of your ankle. The question of durability remains to be seen...I run 100+ miles a week and the old racers wore out very quickly, so hopefully I won't have to be buying another pair of these in 3 weeks!
