I was with a friend who was running in these shoes and I liked the way they looked. She suggested they would be good for my foot so I ordered a pair and straight out of the box they were terrific and felt great all through my runs! I've bought a second pair after trying another shoe when the first pair wore out. I was not as happy so I've come back to the Zoom Elite 5.

The Zoom Elite +5s are great for anyone looking for a light, fast shoe that still delivers sufficient cushion for long distances (I have worn them in training/races for both half-marathons and a full marathon). I am on my second pair and I have to say that I will be picking up a third before they are gone for good!

Having suffered from shin-splints/planter fasciitis while training for my first half-marathon (in a pair of terrible Pumas), these were recommended to better fit my mid-foot strike. The soles of the shoes seem to roll nicely from heel to toe, while providing a good amount of support/cushion in the mid-foot/arch area. Compared to my alternate shoes, which are Mizuno Waveriders, the Zoom Elites are incredibly light. I actually prefer them for longer training runs because they breathe better and my legs tend to grow less tired. Since making the swap to the Zoom Elites (and also beginning to alternate shoes), the only aches/pains I have had are those you would expect from increasing mileage during training.

In terms of fit, they do run a bit on the longer/narrower side. This fits my foot type perfectly, so I would not call it a "con," but I do not see them working well for those with particularly wide feet. As with most running shoes, these tend to fit best if you size up by a half (i.e. I wear an 8 in most shoes and an 8.5 in these). I also should note that they only fit "okay" coming out of the box, but they really shine once they adapt to your feet (it takes maybe a week or two of regular running to get the cushioning and lacing just right). The good news is that this break-in period pays off, as they do last for a good long while (my first pair was still going strong after 400 miles of marathon training).

Are these shoes perfect? Not quite. But, in my experience, they are a great middle of the road neutral shoe that can handle whatever distances you throw at them.

This is a great tempo training and short distance race shoe. It is very springy and comfortable. If you wear neutral shoes, definitely get a pair of these for your next 5K/10K race!
