Features & Benefits:

  • A single-layer upper eliminates overlays, reduces weight
  • Each loop is designed to expand or support as needed: it's more open in areas that need greater flexibility or breathability and tighter in areas that demand support
  • Knitted construction process uses only what's needed: Constructing an upper with this technology creates little to no waste, making the shoe incredibly efficient to produce
  • Instead of using flex grooves, the Nike Flyknit Racer uses cutouts between the waffle lugs to enhance flexibility
  • The Waffleskin outsole features thin web rubber that is lighter weight than traditional outsoles but maintains great traction and durability

Comments about Nike Flyknit Trainer Running Shoe:

The heel cushioning has been improved so any previous complaints about this have been addressed by Nike in this revision of the shoe. If you like a snug fit, not tight, the fly knit upper is for you. I found as I ran the shoe felt better and better as the fly knit upper shapes to my foot. The cushion under the heel is nice without being too squishy and the roll from heel to toe feels natural. Also, bright crimson translates to neon pink, but who notices at 5:30 in the morning.

Comments about Nike Flyknit Trainer Running Shoe:

Aesthetically, these shoes are amazing. They look and feel great. I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting these for running. The heel support is rather stiff and doesn't seem to absorb your impact. I would recommend the lunar version of these for jogging/running. These are great everyday tennis shoes however. Super light, super comfortable (minus the heel if you run in them), and overall a great shoe.

Comments about Nike Flyknit Trainer Running Shoe:

A few things about me to start with: male, 28, 5'11", 155 lbs., average 50-60 miles per week.

There is one gaping flaw with this shoe, and it overwhelms all the good I can say about it: the structure in the heel area, below the Achilles tendon is hard, stiff, unforgiving, and utterly brutal. I put in major miles every week, including a long weekend run of 15 to 25 miles, and so my feet are used to the wear and tear of running. I put in a total of 2.5 miles in these shoes, and that was all she wrote. After 1.5 miles I could feel hot spots that came on very quickly and without much warning, within the next mile, I went from a standard pace run to a walk, praying I could make it home to free my feet from these shoes.

With that said, let's hit the highlights, which are actually really good!
PROS: light; breathable; feel low to the ground so you're connected as you run; they feel fast, but are still cushioned in the strike areas; they look awesome; and they come in a variety of colors if you like that sort of thing.

CONS: aside from the above comment, I had no complaints, but I didn't put too many miles on them to find out if anything else was an issue. To reiterate, the back construction of the shoe, below the Achilles is brutally unforgiving, and if my Hobbit feet can't handle it, good luck. Looking great on race day or during training is useless if they're going to commit a crime on your feet.

I did learn, in the aftermath that hemorrhoidal creams are a great way to relieve the pain of blisters and help them heal, without drying them out. The more you know, right?

Comments about Nike Flyknit Trainer Running Shoe:

I use this shoe mainly for casual wear, and it just looks awesome with a pair of jeans or chinos. Loaded with brilliant Nike tech, it's comfortable and light with plenty of support.

Stuff i didn't like was the short and thin tongue which tended to slide to the side after a while. The heel-to-toe drop also needed some getting used to, the laces are flat and thin like ribbons and are a PITA to lace as they do not bite at all. The flywire cables also look very fragile and it scares me to lace it too tightly, but all in all, just a fantastic shoe from Nike. Looking to cop the Luner 1+ next!

They are very light and fit like a sock. I just ran a half marathon in them with no issues to me feet. Note: these shoes have about a 10mm hell-to-toe drop so they are not minimalist.

Worst running shoes I have ever worn

Comments about Nike Flyknit Trainer Running Shoe:

The heel was too rigid and did not fit properly. I developed the worst blisters of my life after 2 miles. I LOVE the flyknit racers, but they added a board in the back of the trainers that is waiting to give you blisters. I don't get it. And I NEVER get blisters. And I love Nike. But, these are awful shoes. Returning them tomorrow.
