My feet love these shoes

5

I began running about two years ago after a spine fusion and a year of recovery. I searched for a shoe that I liked - or rather my feet liked - and tried many different shoes; stability, stability plus, minimalist, performance. My zeal for my new ability after a minor broken back led me to over train; advancing from my first 5K in October of 2011 to a 55 mile adventure race - in my case meaning a finish - and a full marathon in September 2012 - I ran the whole way; not fast. I developed plantar fasciitis and sat the next five months out. I've been running again since march. I have straight feet, medium arches, weigh about 175 at 6 feet and am 50 years old. I'm running about 15 miles a week and expect to add about 5 more. My pace is 8:30/ in the rolling hills of Pa and about 7:00/ on the track. I asked shoe dog to recommend a shoe and he chose the Lunnarglide 5 and also Ravenna 4 which I already own. The Ravenna's are tight in the toe and a little heavier. I don't have numbers but they feel flatter. The Lunnarglide 5's are super comfortable for me; I like toe room. There's heel cushioning, they're light and I don't need to add supportive inserts. In the last two years I have tried about 10 different shoes and these are the best I've found for me. Running is now much more enjoyable for me and I need to remind myself that I am busy and need to stop.

An Excellent Shoe!

5

I have run for 30+ years. In the last 5-7 years, I have had problems with my legs and knees, which has limited my running to treadmills. I only run out in the street infrequently and, normally, only for races. I went to a running shoe store in my hometown and was recommended the Saucony ProGrid Omin 10. I had run with those shoes for the last 2 years with little to no problems, but, unfortunately, these shoes are no longer available. After consulting with one of the advisers on the Roadrunnger.com chat line, it was recommended that I give the Nike Lunar Glide +5 a try. I fell in love with this shoe from the start! It ran well immediately and I had no problems with my legs or knees. Normally I would break a new running shoe in, alternating with my current shoes with the new ones; but, that was not necessary with the Nike Lunar Glide. The cushioning is great, as I do not even use an insert with my new shoe, and the foot support, for me, is excellent! The shoe is lighter than the Saucony Omni, too. For me, this is a great running shoe!

Cloud-like, for better or worse

3

I replaced a pair of stiff Mizunos with these, hoping for a less jarring ride. These are like my aunt's Toyota Avalon, to the Mizunos' VW GTI; I gave up much handling and responsiveness for springy shocks that deftly eat uneven surfaces. That said, I feel faster in these than I was expecting, having tried Nike's Lunarlon soles in the first generation LunarEclipse (they were mushy to the point of cartoonishness). These feel a tiny bit firmer, and while I'd love to be a bit more in tune with the road, my legs are thanking me. One note: my son stood on my forefoot and the material tore. I fixed it up with a small piece of black thread, but these might not be the most durable uppers out there.

So far so good

5

i am usually an asics buyer but I decided to try a pair of Nike Lunar Glide 5 the new release from Nike. I am recovering from a hamstring strain and just found out that I have low arches. I am 6 ft 2inches tall and weigh 178 pounds and I needed something supportive and stable and to my surprise they feel fantastic. They have ample toe room in the front and a heel that has a nice snug flexible fit. The cushioning feels soft from heel to toe and they are light and airy. My only question that I have is durability but it is still to early to tell, however I am ready to purchase another pair to alternate runs. .

A winner!

5

Have increased my mileage over the last six months, always looking for a well cushioned shoe with mild pronation control. Decided to order & try a pair of these based on description but honestly wasn't real hopeful. Great surprise! As well cushioned, both heel and forefoot, as anything else that I've been training in (Asics 2000, new stock Asics 2160), with mild pronation control. They're lighter and feel faster than than the others, too. Ran 18 miles in them today and plan on using them in the 56 mile Comrades Marathon in June. Great VIP price/service, just ordered two more pair!

Great upgrade to the LunarGlide 4

4

Like your LunarGlide 4's? You should check out the new 5's. I've only run in them a few times, but so far I love 'em. They take everything that's good about the 4's -- light weight, smooth ride, glove-like fit -- and improve on the few things I didn't like. The cushioning is a tad firmer so they don't bottom out on rough pavement. There's more stability, so they roll very smoothly from heel to toe. And the laces wrap a little further around the ankle, so you can snug your heel a little tighter into place. All in all, I'm very happy, no complaints.

Ideal training shoe

4

If you moderately overpronate,in need of a daily trainer, and push the miles during marathon training, this is a great shoe. It isn't too "bossy" with the control but it accommodates your foot rolling in nicely when needed. A bit high off the ground so if you are used to a lower profile shoe, this takes some time to get used to. The cushioning for a stability shoe is excellent and I have no problem recommending this shoe. Use it up to tempo runs but alternate to your faster shoe for Yasso's, for example.

Great Feel and Fit

4

Great shoe. I got these to alternate with another shoe of another brand. These feel great. The not so much cushion that they feel "mushy". Very responsive and comfortable from the first time you step in. I used to wear Pegasus but the Shoe Dog recommended these to me so I'm giving them a shot... so far so good. FYI: I'm 6'2, 175 lbs, Very High Arches, and run 15-30 miles/week (weather and work load depending). All shoes fit everyone differently so take all of this for what it's worth.

Great value

5

For only $80 (on sale), you'd be hard pressed to find a better value for a top quality running shoe. The cushion and pronation support may not be quite as high as the Brooks Adrelanine that I used to own, but this shoe is still very good in both categories, and at the same time is much much lighter. So I'm very happy with the purchase.

Light weight and stable

5

Great pronation control in a light weight, form fitting package. The cushion in the heal is springy and propels you through your stride. The remodeled fly wire in the laces helps make them fit any foot. I highly recommend them to runners looking for a light shoe with good stability control.

Not enough cushion or support

2

Primarily used for pavement running. I found the support to be insufficient and that the shoe did not have enough cushioning. My feet hurt after every run and my shins were starting to feel pain after a few 5 mile runs. I typically run 5 to 6 times a week but I'm used to a shoe with more cushion.

Perfection

5

These babies are amazing. The fly knit material hug your feet and provide great breath ability. The back heel support helps keep pronation under control. I use custom insoles from Road Runner Sports for my high arches and they feel great. The lunar glide series just gets better and better.

Great fit/cool look

5

I am a middle aged runner; road 90% and treadmill. These sneakers have a unique web that cinches up with the laces. Works great. Heal has external support. Follow the advice and get half size longer. Provides good support all around and works well with my orthotics. Great price as a VIP.

Great feel!

I teach Zumba classes and actually use these shoes for that, not running or anything. Other than the shoes being a little narrow they are amazing! I do a lot of jumping, moving and twisting and they have been great with supporting me.

Amazingly comfortable

4

Was a huge fan of the Lunarglide 1's and then things got to narrow. This newly designed upper gives me the room I needed to be my go-to shoe. Glad to return to Nike. My only change would be a bit more arch support.

I use this product in a couch to 5K program where I am running and walking in intervals for about 30 minutes. The shoes are very lightweight which makes for an easier run.

Supportive, flexible

5

Wider toe area but has a narrower heal, flexible, cushioned with excellent supports. I run about 25 miles per week and I liked this sneaker so much I purchased 2 more pairs.

Doesn't feel like a traditional stability shoe. It's lightweight and comfortable. A soft ride but still responsive. I love the whole lunar glide series especially the 4s & 5s.

Solid!

This shoe has very good stability efforts that particularly come into play after a long run. I believe with the insole fitting and this shoe it has helped me gain longer runs when my ankles start to flex inwards when the Tibialis posterior tendon, Flexor digitorum longus tendon, Flexor hallucis longus tendon get tired.
