I didn't buy the shoes here, but after seeing the reviews posted, I thought I should add my own.
I actually love these sneakers. I bought them AFTER trying the Wildhorse 3 and feeling blah-ish about them. So, SO glad I did.
At first, yes, the toe box was a little awkward and I definitely felt some pressure on my big toes, but after I wore them 3 or 4 times that went away. I put corn cushion pads (the big ones) on my heels every time I break in a new pair of sneakers, so I haven't had issues there.
Of course, I found them when Nike was developing the Wildhorse 4, so getting more in a size 10- in colors I like- has turned into an epic quest. :) I should have learned by now that if I find a Nike sneaker I like, I need to buy 10 pairs because it's going to be out of stores 10 minutes later.
Anyway, back to relevance! Yes, I would recommend these sneakers to anyone who asks!
Heel collar is uncomfortable
I own these shoes (although not purchased at RR) and came here to see what others thought.
All reviewers seem to comment on the snug forefoot. I have owned other shoes with a narrow fit (Brooks PureConnect being one), but the Wildhorse 2 toebox is even more shallow vertically. It feels a bit strange, but I actually liked this once I began running up a trail, as my feet felt quite secure. The shoe is low-slung but rugged. The problem is that the heel is looser than the toe, and the heel collar seems too high and stiff. It rubbed up and down with each step, giving me a painful blister on my Achilles after only 2 miles. My Saucony Peregrine trail shoes don't rub in that spot at all and never did, even when new. I don't think sizing up would help; they would just be even sloppier in the heel. I'll reluctantly return them.
Love these shoes, but...
I really wanted to keep these shoes, but they are just too tight on the top of my right foot. Loved the traction of the sole the most. I reluctantly have to return them. The size was perfect so I don't know if going a size up would help.
If your feet are narrow these would work great for you.
