So I've been a Asics ...

By Douglas L

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

So I've been a Asics Kayano loyalist for the better part of 10 years. Every shoe I've switched to has caused me more harm than good, except these. I was at an Ironman Expo and tried these on. I was skeptical, but I was definitely interested, so this off season, I purchased a pair. A major thing about the Newtons is that you notice your quads don't work as hard . And that's a plus considering I've had Ironman seasons derailed because of IT issues

Most Recent Pair Disappointing

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

I have worn Newtons before and I have had pretty good success with them but my most recent pair seemed to be much firmer and I wonder if the lugs were not flexing as much as they should. Just a stiff pair or have they made them to be a more stiff ride? I may try the Gravity that are more neutral. The Newtons now seem to wear better compared to the early pairs, particularly if you trying to reform from being a heel striker. As a masters runner, I do like more cushioning. So I would recommend the Gravity or the lighter trainers. For those that like a stiffer ride and more control, you may like the Motion. I give them a 4 because I have had good luck with previous pairs, this most recent may be just a lemon.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

I bought these shoes because I am transitioning into minimalistic running. They are wonderful because they have a small heal and they really encourage a proper midsole foot strike. These shoes have also helped me feel more comfortable with a shorten stride and a 180 cadence foot strike.

Newton's are the best. These shoes also go great with the Distance S performance racers!

Another great benefit is that Newton gives you a 30 day trial period with all of their shoes. If you don't like them, you can send them back for a FULL refund.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

The Newton "model" is interesting and has potential. I tried these shoes because my former shoe was discontinued and discovered that the Newton is well engineered and fits snugly, but not too tight. The exaggerated forefoot cushioning prevents you from heal-striking and as I'm a "mid-foot" runner, I thought this would be fine. I discovered, however, that my stride changed in these shoes, which is the intention of the shoe. In fact, you're instructed to slowly train yourself to run in them. This might have been fine if I wasn't looking for a reliable training/racing shoe and it would have taken a lot of time to determine if these would have filled that role so I returned them [...]. I'm also not convinced that forcing people to become fore- or mid-foot runners is anything more than a fad.

I started use the newtons for their technology, at the beggining I was skeptic but I ran my second half marathon, and they were a sucess, after the mile 11, the pay off the price. I love the color of my shoes, but probably newton could be produce more variaty of colors, they are limited. I am 6 feet guy and I run 30 miles weekly, newton works for me.

      I've been a runner for ...

      By J. Ainsworth

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

I've been a runner for over 40 years and have alsway had to purchase stability plus shoes b/c I basically have no arch. Even in my stability shoes I use a heat moldable orthotic. I never thought that a lightweight shoe would work for me. I purchased a pair of Newton Motions and inserted my orthotics. I'm a mid to fore foot striker so adjusting to the shoe took little time. Overall my work out pace has decreased 20 to 40 seconds per mile. These shoes are not support shoes, you must think about your running. So for no plantar pain or issues. I would have given the shoe 5 stars but I'm still skeptical. I will race in the shoes in a couple of weeks and that will be the real test. One down side the shoes are expensive. I can't afford to purchase multiple pairs.

      By Joe

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

These are fine shoes - but they're way overpriced. I'm not sure if they actually promote a forefoot stride, perhaps more of a midfoot ladning. They do make my gait more efficient; that is, my footstrike seems to fall consistently under my center of gravity. This is partly because the Newtons encourage a shorter turn-over. I've heard of folks who notice a faster pace in the Newtons...but if anything, I'm a little slower in the Newtons. This is a good shoe overall. Just doesn't deliver at the current price.

I love the ide of these shoes because i am a midfoot/forefoot runner. But for the last few weeks ive been suffering some lower leg pains (shin splints) I bought the newton motions hoping they would offer sme relief only to find the pain has gotten significantly worse. I do not downgrade this shoe it is innovative and smart , but its just not for me

      By psw

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

I am on my second pair and am an enthusiastic supporter of this shoe and the philosophy behind it. There is for sure a slow break in period--no 10 mile runs right out of the box. The payoff is less muscle soreness and a definite feeling of speed not seen with what I call "conventional" running shoes. The caveat is a potential strain to the legs in adopting a forefoot running style that demands more out of your calf muscles and achilles (I had a bout of tendinitis) but is kinder to your knees. This shoe is meant for smooth surfaces because of the 4 forefoot "bars" that stick out and is not suitable for trails/real uneven surfaces because you can trip catching the "bars." I wear orthotics and am a moderate overpronator. To me the biggest flaw is the price.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

This is my second pair of Newtons. I too also believe in the company's philosophy with the shoes. There is a definite break in period with these shoes. Don't do what I did and run 20 miles the first week. Around week 3 I ended up tearing my soleus muscle. Doctor said I was trying to adapt too fast to new shoes and going over the 10% rule. I'm going to buy my third pair soon so I can run in a different pair for each day I run. Just wish that the shoes were a little cheaper.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Motion Running Shoe:

These shoes are great. I have put about 150 miles on the shoes and I have never had a pair feel better. I have always been a forefoot striker, so I had little adjustment to make with these shoes. My training times went down from the first workout and continue to improve. These shoes are well worth the additional cost.

My first mid-/forefoot shoes. I bought them to force myself to improve my technique, and I must say I am impressed with how the shoes naturally makes you run more correct. This is coming from me, who have had a real struggle with my running technique ever since an avid athlete told me "You are actually slowing down everytime you put your foot down!". I would highly recommend this shoe to anybody in need of a little guidance...:-)

This is my second review to post, I ditched the nike equalons and bought Brook Launch to complement my Newtons. Newtons outperform Brook Launch also. I bought Launch b/c of price but it doesn't compare to Newton when it comes to relieving chondromalacia symptons and pain. I gave Newtons a 4.0 rating b/c I wish they were a little less expensive and there was more carbon rubber in the heel.

I have been running in Newtons for 2 years now and love them. They have improved my foot strike, balance, and running form which have improved my efficiency. It took about 2 weeks to get use to them (about 5 runs). The biggest pro's are: lightweight and cushioning, so I can train and race in them. Overall a great shoe that I will continue to race/train in.

Like some, I wasn't to keen on the price but with Roadrunner giving a good deal (secret shoe sale and being VIP) I gave it a shot with the Motion and Distance S models. A little over 300 miles on the Motion and close to 200 on the Distance S, I am looking on getting another pair for training. They breathe well and are comfortable. I use them for training only (using racing flats for events) and I believe they have helped my form and ability to run two-a-days more often. Definitely a break in period for me was needed as I had to really focus on midfoot strikes at easy/moderate paces. Metatarsals also felt some aches -- which I think may from adapting to the front lugs. Overall, I am satisfied with the Motions and will be looking towards another pair (which I hope they have a 2011 line up to change colors and style).

I am 5 foot 10, 122 pounds and run 30-32 miles a week. For years, I wore Mizuno's but switched to these after reading the reviews. My feet take a trashing and I wanted to find a shoe that would be kinder and this is it. I eased them into my running routine over 2 weeks and this time was absolutely needed as my leg muscles felt the difference at first but adapted quickly. I use them for long runs, tempos, and my speed work and am a convert. For me, the best running shoe I ever used, hands down.

I really like this shoe. I've owned 3 generations of this shoe and it's still a winning culmination of technology and comfort. The toe box seems a little wide on this iteration, but other than that I have absolutely no complaints. Great shoe!

Been running for 32 years and thought my days of running were over because of my knee pain. By the 4th run in these shoes no knee pain and have not had any since. Yes there is a break in period so follow the guidelines. Yes they are expensive but they do offer a military discount. I have two pairs and will not run in any other shoe.

These shoes are great. I have put about 150 miles on the shoes and I have never had a pair feel better. I have always been a forefoot striker, so I had little adjustment to make with these shoes. My training times went down from the first workout and continue to improve. These shoes are well worth the additional cost.

Ive followed Newton for 2 yrs. online and on the triathlon circuit. Understand the forefoot concept and the actuator lugs technology. Have always ran in the Asics Kayano's even though I changed my gait to forefoot 1 year ago after much research on proper running form. Once RRS picked them up I ordered. Im 6'6 215lbs. do plenty of road miles running and cycling. Hesitant of the weight of shoe but still very anxious to try out. Did 7 miles my first run regardless of the 1mile maximum slow break-in recommendation. Can honestly say,"Wow" Believe the hype, its all true!

I love these shoes ran 3 miles the first day. Second day ran 7 miles, put on my new balance to finish my run and my shoes felted like lead boots. I'm planning to buy another pair in a few months. I have to save up.
