Recently I ran Steamtown Marathon and qualified for Boston using Newton's Running Distance S. I always had foot problems in marathons before . My feet felt great during and after Steamtown wearing my Newtons. This running shoe is perfect for me. I'll never run in any other make of running shoe.

I have used this shoe for one workout on a treadmill. It tops all flats that I have worn in the past (brooks, asiscs, nike). I felt like I was working less and getting more benefit from the workout thanks to the design of the shoe. Way to go Newton! I also train in the Sir Isaac S. Newtons all the way!

I'm a triathlete training for my second ironman (IM Wales :-) ) and I'd read a lot about Newton's and the "natural running" concept. I bought these, taking a chance on a new brand of shoes (had previously worn Nike and Saucony). These shoes are incredible. For me, they've decreased the achey joint feeling I get after every run, plus my feet don't appear to be blistering compared to other brands of shoes. Overall, they 're an excellent product. I'm a little concerned about the wear on the shoes though, based on other reviews.

I used to be a "heel pounder". In my quest to run more efficiently, I purchased some reading material to help with my running form. Armed with this new knowledge, I purchased these shoes. At first, it was very difficult for me to get used to running with a mid/forefoot strike. My calves would be incredibly sore. I was not able to run as far or fast. It took 2 months to improve my running form and this is when I saw the true potential of these shoes. With each step you are propelled forward and the faster you run the better the shoes perform. I run about 20 miles/week, and I have only had the shoe for a few months, so I cannot speak of their durability, however, so far they are holding up really well. The shoes are light weight, very comfortable, and they breathe great. I wear size 13 in Nike. For these shoes I had to go with a size 14. I would recommend the shoes to anyone looking to improve their running form, speed, and economy. Just be patient.

This is a great shoe, but it could be better. I love the way it feels on the foot, and it is a fast shoe. I've run my PR in the marathon in this shoe, and I always run a bit faster when I run in these. However, there are a few downsides. The shoe obviously is expensive, and it wears out rather quickly. I can live with those since I am a small runner and tend to get my money's worth out of any shoe. Where the shoe does need some definite improvement in on drainage. The upper is incredibly breathable, but once these shoes get wet they turn into solid bricks. They need a few drain holes to improve ventilation a bit, but more importantly to dry them out. I ran a 70km trail run in these shoes and my feet were a mess at the end of the race because the shoes got wet and just kept going up in weight!! Overall great shoe though with just a few areas of improvement needed.

After many different orthotics and shoes I gave these a try and can't imagine running in anything else. They do take a month or so to adjust so take it slow. I cut my milage down for two months and built back up. I did have heel wear & sore calves at first but all is good now. I'm running faster with less effort. Can't wait to run a marathon in these.

I've got about 350 miles on them so far. I use them from everything from 5:30's to 7:30's, very versatile.

For much less money, I think the New Balance 904 does a better job as a low-profile, forefoot striker shoe. This one is too mushy.

I converted to the Distance S, from the Sir Isaac S. the Sir Isaac's wore out way to quickly, so i thought i'd give these a try. Excellent overall running shoe. I run at least 25 miles a week, and have and these shoes for the past year. The open air mesh is tremendous; keeps my feet from heating up, and helps them dry out quickly after i step in puddles. Ever since i started running in Newton's, all of the injuries that i had have disappeared. and when buying from RRS, you can't go wrong; especially with the VIP Discount.

I purchased the shoe solely to try it out for the Chicago Marathon on 10/9/11. I tried the shoe without an insole on the tread mill and it did not have the stability I am use to. I weight 165 to 170 lbs. and run between 80 and 100 miles per week. I tend to supinate slightly so I use a high stability shoe to train and used the Newton Distant Runner S for the road races. I put in a Superfeet green stability insole and found (coincidentally) that the hard plastic insole support of the insole happens to terminate right at the rear of the Newton lugs. This provided very stable and light weight running during the marathon and seemed to propel the foot forward to meet the Newton shoe intent. I also found it very easy to switch stride which mentally I had to do since Chicago is such a flat course which does not allow the use of various leg muscles more typical of hilly courses. Short stride or long stride the Newton responded well. Recovery was instantaneous and I am off to try them again at New York on November 6th.

1st pair of Distance S..have been devoted to Newtons for about 3 years...the "S" has almost the identical feel of the Motions, yet are lighter and have a faster feel...if you love the Motions, you will love these..also, definitely size up one-half!

I use these for quicker runs and speed training, usually 3-5 miles. Today I did 8 in them and was impressed with their speed and comfort. I also have the stability trainer version -- but these Distance S's are the ones to get. I probably only have 50-60 miles on mine, so too early to tell on the wear.

I'm new to the Newton world...this was my first pair ever and I think I've found my new lifelong shoe. My experience has been so good thus far that I can see myself running in these almost exclusively from here on out.

I was already pretty much a mid to fore foot runner so there was almost no adjustment for me. If you prefer a light and minimal shoe, you will LOVE these. I've put probably 100 miles on these so far and they appear to be holding up really well.

I also have a super narrow foot and while I wouldn't necessarily say these shoes run narrow, they have accommodated my narrow foot well.

I hesitated for a long time before buying these shoes because they are a little pricey but now that I've had the chance to experience them, I'd say they are worth every penny.

I have had less injuries with this shoe, and feel less fatigued after working out. As I adapted more to the shoe (i.e. mid foot/ forefoot striking) the durability of the shoe improved. This is my 3rd pair.

Whether running on a treadmill or on the road, the performance and comfort of the shoe is amazing.It is light, true to size, and contributes to the overall strength and agility of becoming a better long distance runner. The use of these shoes have made me notably faster and stronger. The downside to these shoes is that because they are so breathable, they take on water very easily and are certainly not warm in colder weather.

This is the best shoe i have bought in a while. I have 5 other shoes all different brands I will not touch those now that I own a pair of Newtons. they are light weight, breathable and fast. Great for racing, I wear them sockless and have had no problems at all will buy more of these shoes.

I am a recent convert to forefoot running, having spent years as a heavy heel striker. Tehse Newtons really encourage mid-to-fore foot running. Once I got the hang of it, running feels like floating. Plus, the super-bright yellow is great for nighttime visability.

A little pricey, and I have heard that they don't last that long, but these are new to me, so I can't say.

Break in, break in, break in. Use it with an open mind. After 25 miles of testing, I think it has really changed the way I run. It has improved for the better. I have run sub-50min, 6-milers twice at a lesser effort. It is very lightweight. For now, I do not see any CONS. Believe the hype.

I run and I run a lot, I became a Newton believer with my first pair. I use to get ankle pain and it would eventually spread to my knee with other long distance shoes I have worn (Mizuno, Avia, New Balance). Walking could feel a little awkward but once you start running in these shoes it feels natural.. it just feels right... thats the best way to describe it ..
