Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: There is a lot out there about the Newton line, and I won't try to argue one way or another about that. However, if you're reading this, the odds are that you are interested in the Newtons but are put off by the very high price. My experience is that these shoes give very long wear if you run with "Newtonian" form. If you try to use them as a heel-striker, they won't be comfortable, and the heel will wear out relatively quickly. But if you learn the midfoot/forefoot strike and use it well, it is not uncommon to get well over 500 miles out of a pair. This makes the bang-for-buck calculation a lot simpler.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I have used both the 2009 Newton Gravity shoes (red) and the 2010 model (blue). Been using Newtons for running since Dec 2009 and haven't turned back (previously used Nike, Mizuno, Brooks without any fitting and performing as well as Newtons). I use Gravitys for most of my training and use the Newton Distance for fast training and races (10k - marathon). These shoes are very flexible and breathable. The best thing about them is the added mid/forefoot cushioning and the reduced heel height. I was looking for shoes that get the heel out of the way so I can run the way I like to (mid-foot strike) and I am so glad I found these. Before Dec 2009 I was constantly battling knee pain, since switching to Newtons I have zere knee pain and I run twice as much. When I switch to my Mizuno Waveriders once in a while I start to feel the precursor to knee pain after about 6 miles of running. The recovery with the Newtons is amazing. I ran the 2010 LA Marathon in the Newton Gravity beating my goal by 20 minutes and had zero knee pain and woke up the next morning and ran. I'm able to run half marathons back to back weekends no problem. 6 months ago, before using Newtons that would be impossible. Sure, I've done some other things to prevent injury and speed recovery, but I really feel these Newtons are necessary for me. Because it helps to allow me to run as much as I want to and when I want to, it has not only improved my speed (35 seconds faster pace in the half-marathon) but it really has improved my life. This is the real thing.
Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: Absolutely Awesome shoes. I ran a 22 miler @ 7:30 pace and for the first time my legs did'nt feel fatigued. Never felt so good after a 22 miler. Always been sceptical of all the expensive stuff and their claims. But these shoes are worth it, if you run forefoot/midfoot. Pros

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I have been running for 25 years and was an off on on heel striker. I finally learned how to run correctly after all of these years. I changed my form to the barefoot running style and bought these shoes. It is difficult to heel strike in these, thats a good thing. my last marathon was in 1999 I stay injured so much I never make through the training period to get to that marathon. I have ran in these shoes for 3 weeks and am doing a 1/2 marathon next week. this new running form along with the newton gravity shoe has turned my thoughts about running upside down. I feel I can train more with no injuries and I will run another marathon before the end of the year

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I bought these to rotate with the Newtons Racers. These are just as awesome as the Racers. The Gravitys have a more durable heel than the Racers. I will never run in another shoe besides Newtons. Believe the hype! Midfoot strike is more natural and easier on the body.
Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I liked how these shoes felt on some 10 mile runs but the durability is poor. Inside of heel wearing and the sole actuator lugs after only 50 miles. Pros

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I've been running for nearly 20 years now and as I've gotten older, heavier, and slower had gone from being a forefoot runner in my high school cross country days to a heel striker. After an ITB injury last February while training for a marathon, I went back to basics with a hard look at my form. I also discovered that barefoot running on the grass didn't hurt my ITB, but a 1/2 mile in my fat heeled running shoes and I'd be limping to the car. After some research, I ended up with these because they are supposed to encourage forefoot running. They do! I transitioned to them slowly as recommended, and yes they did give my calves a workout at first. But what a difference! I'm back to being a forefoot runner and running better than I have been in years. I have 500 miles and 2 marathons on my first pair with no injuries, not even a blister! (And I have always had problems with bilsters on distance runs). I even think that these shoes get better after the lugs wear down a bit. I'm now breaking in my 2nd pair. What can I say? They're not the best for trails or inclement weather, but they are great running shoes!

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I'm on my third pair of Newton Distance which I use for intervals, 5K - half marathon races and triathlons. I'm marathon training and have been searching for a long distance trainer. I tried Nike and NB lightweight performance trainers with no luck. I have 60 miles on my Gravity's and I now plan to train and race solely in Newtons. There're more durable than the racers and just a fraction heavier. I may even race my marathon in them.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I converted to forefoot running and bought into the notion of Chi/Barefoot technique several years ago - and the results have been phenomenal. Now, don't assume that your just going to jump into these shoes and run carefree, something has to give and that something is usually your calves. They will need a very long period to adapt (for me 6-8 months), and I found that strength training and stretching, along with compression sleeves have prevented strains. Also, get the shoe 1/2 to a whole size large, depending on how much/far you run - feet swell and I experienced swelling and neuritis/impingement syndromes with my feet usually at mile 10 because of wearing a size smaller.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: These shoes are definitely a different 'paradigm' from the traditional running shoe. They seems to be not too bulky (like many running shoes) and well-designed. I like that fact that Newton actually sends its reps around who do formal presentation on running. And they're a small company, which I like. They're not trying to be the next Nike.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: After years of being a heel striker and numerous overuse injuries, I switched to a midfoot/forefoot strike. I made the transition with Nike stability shoes. I then went right to the Newton Gravity (sans stability). I've been running in these for a few weeks, logging about 20-30 miles a week without issue. The first 1 or 2 runs yielded sore tissue around the ankles and calves, but this is to be expected as Newton recommends a short break in period. Pros

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I am a 60yo runner of 40 years and have had every "itis" known to runners. As a converted heal striker I was making progress but improved dramaticly when I began using the Gravity. I run with greater comfort and increased speed with less effort. For me, these shoes are the best I have ever run in. Great quality, great comfort, great shoe and you become quicker. what more could you ask for?

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I actually do ALL of my runs in Newtons. I do not need motion control, so I use the Gravity. The all weather shoe which I also own is a bit more controlled, but still comfortable. I wish these were not so expensive and a bit more durable, but still, it is the ONLY shoe I am training or racing in, whether it be trail, road or Ironman.
Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I have to say that this is one of the best shoes I have ever had. It is light and very good. I used to be a "heel-striker" but I got this shoes to help me to adjust my running from heel to forefoot and it worked. I really enjoy running. It is better on my knees and I feel great. I suggest to be very careful with how you break them in because if you are a heel-stiker then you will need to take your time to adjust your running technic to "fit" Newton style. It is not for everyone but it is really good. The only concern I have with the shoe is when running on wet roads - the sole design is not really made for wet surface and thus you have to be careful when running on wet asphalt. Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: If you are into natural running on the forefoot(barefoot/pose/chi) then you will love this shoe. They are lightweight and give energy back with every stride. I have never felt so comfortable running in ANY shoe as I have in these. Pros

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: Ok, I have been in the Army for 24 years and have done a lot of running in my day. After knee surgery last year from a skiing accident, I had to learn to run again. At first, I progressed back to my daily routine but noticed a lot of heal and knee pain. I switched to these shoes based a friends recommendation. I am glad I did. Running is actually enjoyable again with no pain. I have decreased my average mile time by 25 seconds and am running like a young Soldier again. I normally wear a size 9 in other shoes but wear a size 9 1/2 in Newtons. Definitely go up a 1/2 size. I usually run about 20-25 miles a week and have had these shoes for about 8 months. They still look good. The only issue I have with the shoes is the price. If they were around $80-100 I would own several pairs. I just stick with one at a time and use my Asics as backup.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: Great shoe!! I have used it from 5k distance to marathon distance. It did awesome no matter the run. They lasted over 600 miles. Hear people say Newton's science is not true but if you buy Newtons and really want to change to a forefoot runner they will help you run injury free and achieve many PRs. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is they lack traction on turns. Otherwise wonderful.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: Contrary to what most people say, I get close to 500 miles out of these shoes. They are rather expensive, but since I have been wearing them (4 pairs in about 1.5 years), I have yet to have any injuries, meaning no PT or Doctor appointments which more than pays for the shoes. That said, when I first started, I was overly excited and ran 5 miles the first day. My calves screamed about the abuse for at least two weeks. So, start out slow, maybe 1 mile per workout day for 4 runs, then 2 miles for 3 runs, and 3 miles for 2 runs, then 4, then 5. Do look at the videos and other information about running style on [@].These shoes encourage you to run on your mid to fore foot and you can look at the soles to see how you are doing. If you are considering the vibram five fingers, maybe start with the Newton Running and then move to vibram five fingers.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: This shoe is light and comfortable, fits orthotics well. I've worn Newtons for a couple of years and believe they've helped injury issues. They do wear out fairly quickly, though. Overall, a great shoe. Well made and well thought out product.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: Five days a week I walk a mile to and from work. I teach kindergarten and the shoes are flexible enough for the ups and downs of a busy classroom. But the greatest thing about the Gravity shoes is that the first pair, the shoes with a picture of Sir Isaac in the insole, saved my knees. I've run four half marathons since changing to the Newtons, and each run has been faster than the last. I can run again, and walk afterwards! I now own four pair of Newton shoes. I also have narrow feet, and the shoes are comfortable with every day and running socks. Once out of the wash and they look and fit like new. Now that's quality!

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I am 43 and have just learned how to run properly. I ran periodically in my 20s and 30s but always gave up because of knee pain. Since taking up Triathalon last year I have been teaching myself technique in all 3 sports. With running, I am amazed at how strength training the hips and core, increasing cadence to 90-95 (as measured by my Garmin 405 and gamin foot pod) and learning how to run with a mid foot strike has enabled me to run pain free for the first time in my life. And the bonus is that I am faster than I ever was in my 20s (not saying that much with me, but this is my mid-life crisis so I am fairly obsessed with getting as fast as I can even at my advanced age). So stop buying shoes that work against 2 million years of evolution. These shoes encourage you to run with a mid or fore foot strike as if you were running barefoot but obviously without all the negative aspects of barefoot running. If you are running more than 10 miles a week, you should follow the link [@]and take the time to learn how to run properly. Then buy a pair of Newtons. Don't know if Nike frees or other minimal shoes compare/I appreciate the research that goes into these shoes and am willing to pay a little extra. I feel like other shoe companies are still in this heel strike/cushioning arms race and do not have the runners' health in their best interest.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I was hesitant before spending the money on a pair of running shoes that I didn't know how quickly they would wear out. So far I have been pleased with the wear. Comfortable and fit great out of the box, got a 1/2 size up and would recommend to everyone to do so. I had been running with a concentration on mid/forefoot strike for a few months before, but these do take a couple of runs to get used to. I am 100% satisfied with them.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: These are my first pair of Newtons and they wont be my last. I love these shoes, I did alot of reseach on these shoes and they are the best. I do have one thing to say make sure you are a mid foot striker, because if you are not they can take a little bit to get used to. About a month before I bought the newtons I made sure that I trained myself to run more on my mid foot. I am glad I did because it really help when I got the Newtons. I dont know what else to say about these shoes, I love them and I will never buy any other kind of shoe. Great work newton and keep up the good work.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: This shoe is probably for the more experienced runner unless you're already a mid/forefoot runner. The shoe does run small and I went up half a size and the fit is perfect for me. I run about 40 miles a week and have no issues at all. The shoes are wearing very well and don't show any signs of excessive wear. I'm using these shoes for both training and racing given their weight.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: I run several times a week, and I've tried several different options for a barefoot/natural running trainer including Vibram, Nike, and Terra Plana. The Newtons are by far the best option for everyday training. They offer great breathability and feel great for running. I highly recommend them. Just be sure and order up at least a half size. These things run small!

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: A great shoe for mid and forefoot runners. Ran my long runs in Sir Isaacs (over 16M), otherwise ran everything else in these. I had put 275 miles on them and they were wearing well but with a marathon coming up I ordered a new pair. They were only a few mm smaller than the other pair. According to the Newton reps, they changed manufacturing plants to Northern China and the shoes were coming out a half size too small. Due to blisters on the tip of the second toe on the left foot, I could not run in them, and I had to use my sir Isaacs for the race, which turned out great with a PR and a BQ. The Newton's have been great for training and may have contributed to my speed increase. I try to use the Chi running technique, and the shoes complement that style. I transitioned slowly over several weeks, but have used the Newtons exclusively without any problems over the last 7 months, running 35-55m per week. The prominent lugs on the Gravities when new can be disconcerting but have not been a problem. I used to feel pain on the balls of my feet before switching to Newtons, but no longer. Unfortunately they are expensive, and cannot be used for anything besides running. At this point, as the shoe no longer fits me with the 10.5's being too big, and the 10's too small I will try another minimal shoe and see how it goes. Otherwise, I would have stayed with the gravities.

Comments about Mens Newton Running Gravity Running Shoe: This is a great shoe... but beware they updated it!!!! This is my 3rd pair... this shoe is smaller by a half size compared to older version. As long as you compensate for this...you'll be good w sizing.
