Great shoe for all distances

5

These shoes have saved my legs. Since I started running in Newton Gravity shoes four months ago, my IT Band issues have virtually disappeared. In fact I haven't had any of my usual leg or foot issues since I started running in them, except for the week I decided to give them a rest and run in a pair of Nike Triax (I developed severe arch pain that took a couple of weeks to resolve). I ran my first marathon last week, and I finished feeling like I still had a mile or two left in my feet. A couple of things: The balls of the feet tend to take a pounding on the long runs. I have found that inexpensive gel inserts, replaced once a month or so, make a huge difference. Also, make sure that you're taking the time to stretch out your Achilles and calves after your runs--this will help to prevent any stiffness or sore calves when you switch into the shoes you spend the rest of your day in.

Great Performance & Great Look!

I bought my first pair of Newton's about a year ago. I'm now hooked and on my third pair. I wear them while training and running 5k's and half marathons. I'm about to try them out on a full marathon in a couple of weeks. The Newton's promote good running form. Prior to running in Newton's I sufferred from constant hamstring pain and SI joint pain. I also would get huge blisters on my forefoot after long races. The extra cushion on the forefront has stopped that problem. Also, I still get occasional pain in my hamstring and hip area but not near what it was prior to using Newton's. I am on my 3rd pair within a year. The shoes seem to lose a bit of their spring after a couple of months. I get tons of compliments on the look of the shoe, even from non-runners.

Gravity = LOVE

5

I'm a competitive college distance runner who runs an average of 50-60 miles per week and I wear my Newtons mostly for speed work and racing. As a former heel-striker, I was worried about an "adjustment period" and I had a bit of calf soreness after the first couple of times I wore them, but I haven't had that problem in quite a while. These shoes feel light and fast and wonderful -- the first time I raced in them, I set a 25 second PR in the 3k. Yes, the shoes are expensive, but I believe these are great shoes that are completely worth the cost. The only 2 downsides I see are that the sole lacks sufficient traction for running in winter weather conditions and that the upper is a bit too breathable to be comfortable in the winter. But that's why Newton makes the Motion All-Weather trainer!

Tried + tested to the max-ironman shoes!

I have worn newtons for three years now and wont change. As soon as i put my first pair on they felt right! Most comfortable and breathable shoe. I wear with orthotics for support but also race without in the racer version. I have always ran in fore foot style so suits my run as cushioning is in right place rather than rear foot like most shoes. Beware it will take some getting used to if u dont run in forefoot/midfoot style normally.

WOW!!! SUPER SHOE!!!!

5

I WISH these were given as a gift cause of the price, but they are WORTH the extra money. All the extra benefits, such as: gone is my pain in my hip and knee! I run half marathons and this is just a superior shoe;light weight, well cushioned where needed, promotes correct push-off and landing! AND they also look great! You don't get any CONS from me!!

Love My New Newtons

4

Got this as one of many to "try out during the off season." I have hamstring issues and some Achilles Tendonitis that I battle, and heard these might help. Loved them right out of the box - with my own orthotic insert, of course. Did 9 really good miles the first day. Did another good 9 miles on day 2, then sprained my ankle. Can't wait to get back in them and start all over again.

Worth every penny

The Newton is lightweight, true to size, and offers all the right support. The shoe is as hot as it looks! It has made my run much faster, stronger, and gien me a better overall control. Running never felt so good and natural. The width and length are true to size. The best money I ever spent on a pair of shoes. I will be buying only Newton from now on.

Perfect Running Shoe

5

I ordered these shoes after experiencing a sore right heel and lower arch. They were perfect from the first day! I am now running with zero pain...I am truely satisfied with this lightweight quality product. I run about 45 miles a week outside on pavement and concrete.A must for any foot or heel problems...

I love these shoes!

5

If I could find a shoe that I liked as much, that was less expensive, I would buy it. But this is my third pair of Newtons (in one year) and I love them! They are terrific for training and racing, but since they wear out so quickly and are so expensive, I save them for races once I've broken them in with a few runs.

Was wowed beyond expectation

4

Gotta say that I was quite hesitant to purchase these. But, during the "off season" I try all kinds of new and different shoes and gear. LOVE these. Ran an "out of the box" 9 miler first thing and can't find a negative thing to say about them. Am wondering if a complementary pair of true trainers would be a good thing to have.

Fast and fancy

4

I purchased the Newtons for the midfoot support. I am a midfoot striker, so I found the extra support helpful. I felt like I was bouncing off my foot. They take a long time to work in, you really can only run 1/2 mile to mile for at least a month to make sure your feet/legs can take the light weight impact.

love these so far. Incredibly comfortable. I've been alternating with Brooks so they don't wear out too quick. Just wish they weren't so expensive.

5

I am actually bummed that I love these shoes as much as I do because they are unconscionably expensive. I decided to try them to see if they might infuse some new inspiration into my running at a time when I was lagging. And they totally did! I have felt lighter and faster in them and have really noticed a difference, although it's hard to explain exactly what they feel like. In an effort to save money, I ordered some tried and true Asics, which I ran in for years before trying Newtons, only to find that they felt clunky and miserable. So I just bought my second pair of Newtons. Anyone want to buy my barely used pair of Asics? Newtons are light, agile, and they enforce good form. I'm afraid there's no going back. sigh.

5

I tried pretty much every brand before finally trying Newton. Every shoe I used gave me horrible pain in the ball of my feet after mile 6...xcept these! I've run 4 maratons in 2 years with these Newtons and It's the first time I've been able to finish a marathon pain-free. I love them BUT they are NOT for everyone .I'm a midfoot striker and these shoes are made especially for mid to forefoot strikers. I wouldn't recommend buying the shoes to change the way you strike, but if you;re already a midfoot runner....you gotta try these!!!!

Great shoe, changed everything.

5

I'm an avid runner for many years, and this shoe by far changed it all for me. I suffered from overpronation and heel striking and this shoe forced me to improve my form. I no longer have the aches of IT band with this. Amazing. It's worth the money, my shoes have lasted way longer than previous ones due to my improvement on form. I'm 7 months pregnant and I still run 12-15 miles a week, this shoe is still holding up (I bought them in March). Newtons are amazing. I'm excited to get another pair.

5

Newtons have changed my running in a very positive way. It took 3-4 weeks of running in them, and then it clicked--I was running faster and lighter on my feet than ever before. I have been running in them for 4 months now and have cut 30-45 seconds off per mile. I ran a PR in a recent 5K. I can't imagine changing back to another brand. If only they $ amount wasn't so much (but well worth it in my opinon).

You will float!!!

5

The very first time I wore these shoes the difference compared to other running shoes was astounding. I felt like I was floating on air. I could not make my legs go fast enough to keep up with my feet. My feet felt great during and after running. I love these shoes. They are expensive but if you look around they can be found on sale. Try them..you will never wear another brand.

great shoe!!!

5

great shoe for midfoot and forefoot strikers. light and fast. Be careful if you've had a pair before because they've updated it w a "bit" of a narrower toe box. I wouldn't recommend for trail running due to upper mesh being so open and allowing debris... their trail runner is great though.

I will be wearin my Newton's for my 3rd Ironman. These shoes are great for a mid to front foot striker. The bar gives me great cushion for the ball of my foot, and keeps me in a more natural forward running position. For a runner that is a heal striker: May take a bit to get used to.

These shoes are a JOY to run in. I feel like they were made just for me. I needed no period of adjustment. I'm 48 years old, 5'2", 105 lb, medium arch forefoot striker. Average 30-35 miles per week. Can't wait to lace them up (even the laces are great).

Hmmm, all I have to say is BE CAREFUL! BE VERY CAREFUL! Work on your form, don't let the company "fix" a problem for you. I have been trying (and I do mean trying) to run in these shoes for a whole month now. Most people complained about their calfs hurting but it was the ball of my feet that would hurt. I have to admit though that I do love the light and airy style of this shoe. But it looks like I am going to have to give them up and buy something else. Man, and they were EXPENSIVE!!!
