This is my first pair of Newtons and I'm pretty impressed. I've been running in Nikes for several years but these were recommended to me because I have high arches and wide feet. They are so comfortable and lightweight. I do think they have improved my running form, and I also run faster in them! There is definitely a "break in" period with these shoes. It took me about 3 weeks of rotating them with my old shoes before I felt like I could run longer than 5 miles in them. The first couple times I wore them resulted in calf pain, but I emailed Newton customer service and they were very helpful in giving me tips and exercises so I could adjust to the mid-foot strike. Now I can run 7+ mile training runs in them with no problems. I think they look awesome too. My only complaint is the price. I think they should be priced along the lines of most competitor shoes. They are great, but they are running shoes. They only last so long.

Great updated model
This is a great update from the 4 lug version. The shoe is very comfortable. It feels a little more stable with the 5th lug. Newton will tell you themselves the shoe runs a little bit bigger than the previous model. I still went with the same size I normally get in running shoes. I would have liked 1/4 size smaller. I might try the next size down next time. Still has a terrible insole for the price of the shoe.
I'm not sure if this shoe will get the 500-700 miles that its claimed but we will see. Still feels pretty much new at just over 100 miles. So they could.
Great for alignment but traction poor
Overall, the traction is poor, which lends to an unstable ride. Rocks get stuck in the bottom of the shoe frequently, and they are very slippery when the ground is wet. I really like that the shoes aligned your ankle, knee, hips joints with the Pop in the bottom of the shoe. However, the Pop sticks out of the sole and gives an unstable feel - it would be better if the Pop is continuous with the sole of the shoe. They seemed to encourage natural running gait and really enjoyed running in the them, but I don't think they were a good fit for an every day trainer.
