Cons Best Uses
Comments about Mens PUMA Complete Nightfox TR Trail Running Shoe: I have taken two runs in these shoes so far, for a total of about 9-10 miles, on a wide variety of surfaces, including: sand, grass, steep hillsides, muddy/uneven terrain, a small boulder field, and horse trails, and they have performed very well. They are comfortable, well-cushioned, and stable -- and they fit my feet like a glove thanks to a snug upper and toe box. Traction is excellent, and in some cases even TOO GOOD. I am not used to such aggressive traction, having previously run in Asics Gel-Cumulus 11 and before that New Balance (both road shoes). My feet have "caught" several times on roots, rocks or other protrusions, throwing me off-balance, simply because the shoes are extremely responsive to the terrain and have such great gripping power. Perhaps because of this, I have experienced one mild ankle roll (at the tail end of my first run). However, I attribute this more to my unfamiliarity with the build and the traction of the Pumas than to some inherent flaw in them. Also, the backs of my lower legs, from about mid-calf down to my heel, have been a little sore following both runs. But, again, I think that this is the result of me just getting used to a new pair of shoes, and is not an indication that the shoes are faulty or poorly designed.
