First, I've never worn Pumas before, and viewed them more as "lifestyle" shoes than serious footwear. That said, I decided to ask Santa for the Puma FAAS based on my experience in Saucony Kinvaras.

I first wore the Pumas around the house on Christmas day for a "break-in" to see if I liked the fit enough to try running in them. I have wide feet, and the toe box felt fine, so I'm not sure why other reviewers said that the shoe felt narrow. In fact, for my feet, the upper on the Puma FAAS' feels more comfortable than the upper on the Kinvara, especially around the area of my right little toe (I seem to recall reading that Kinvaras wear out around that spot).

I took the shoes out last night for a fast 7 mile run. The shoes have a cushy (as opposed to harsh) ride, yet not so soft as to feel unstable. I'm a big guy -- 210 pounds -- with flattish feet who is supposed to wear motion control shoes, so the feel of the shoe is important to me. My legs and feet feel great today. There was no noticable wear on the outsole, unlike the Kinvaras.

If you like the feel of Kinvaras, you should seriously consider these shoes. If you're looking for a minimalist shoe, lace these babies up snug, and let 'er rip!

I have worn the Nike Free 5.0 and the Newton Distance and they are both very good shoes. However, imo the Puma Faas 300 is better. I tried on at least 5 minimalist shoes at Road Runner and the Faas was clearly the best for comfort and natural gait. The store rep even commented that my running looked more natural in the Faas. I have worn them on sidewalks, dirt paths, roads, and treadmills and they feel great in all situations. The price is good and the fit, finish, and construction quality are all outstanding. My only complaint is that Road Runner no longer carries the color combo (black / grey / yellow soles) which I really like. If Puma keeps a good thing going and does not make any significant design changes, I intend to keep buying the Faas 300.

Loving the shoe. Anyone can easily rock this shoe for casual wear. Goes great with jeans and a t-shirt/print t.

This is my first "minimal" shoe experience. The closest I have come prior to this is the Asics Speedstar. The ride is much smoother, less cushion, but foot strike was way more controlled than I have experienced on any other shoe. Almost silent running given my footfall is mid-foot rather than heal. Am I a convert? I have a pair of Nike Frees on the way and I will ease into this before making a snap judgment, but so far I like the change.

I used this as an interval shoe and short race shoe (5km, maybe 10km). It's a bit narrow, but going up a size feels good and doesn't add to the weight much.
Feels good at speed - a bit squishy in the sole compared to the Mizuno Wave Ekiden, but more stable than Brooks Green Silence. These are becoming my go-to fast shoe. At the price point Puma are targeting they are a very good shoe and good value.
As others say, a nice casual shoe too, and you can't say that about every running shoe on the market.

This is a great shoe if you're interested in trying a minimalist one. I was reluctant to hit the road with the shoe because of my flat feet. However, as others have suggested, if you run with these once a week or so you can work your way into increasing mileage. The shoe is extremely light and comfortable though I couldn't imagine running 10 miles or more in them.

Minimal is the way to go. Get your feet back to a more natural feeling when you walk or run. Easy to get on. Feel very comfy. Reminds me of the early days of the running "fad" of the '70s when simple, inexpensive shoes ruled. If your feet can handle them, wear them! Good for casual, too.
