The instructions clearly says that you're not supposed to put the lid on when putting the stick in the freezer.
Read, the instructions, understand them, follow them.
The unit is very good and keeping it in the cooler keeps it frozen for hours. Try doing that with a paper cup!

Mine simply did not work. Definately not worth your money, you can do the same with an ice cube.
Do not waste your money with this product.
