The instructions clearly says that you're not supposed to put the lid on when putting the stick in the freezer.
Read, the instructions, understand them, follow them.
The unit is very good and keeping it in the cooler keeps it frozen for hours. Try doing that with a paper cup!

These things work great! I love coming home from a long run and rubbing these on my legs. I usually only need to use one on both my legs and knees.

Comments about Pro-Tec Athletics Ice Up Ice On The Spot Injury Recovery:

It does not leak, and is very useful to bring along on a track, or XC meet. As long as you do not leave the ice cup in the freezer for over approximately 3 days, the ice is easy to push up. Also, another person complained about it being a watery mess, yeah, but so is regular paper ice cups, which this replaces. I would recommend it to all of those people who want a portable icing device. I agree you could just use a paper cup if you are at home, and that is all you need it for.

its true you can use a paper cup and it works just as well, but im a high school runner and this is great to take along to long invitationals so you can ice after your race. It was also nice to take it to practice when i couldnt run, and be able to ice there. Very Convinient.

Comments about Pro-Tec Athletics Ice Up Ice On The Spot Injury Recovery:

I bought this product years ago when I was recovering from patellar tendonitis that the doctor thought would end my running "career." I followed my PT diligently, took time off from running (8 months), and slowly worked my way back in. I took this stick to every run, and IMMEDIATELY after the run massaged both knees with the ice stick for 7 - 10 minutes. It reduced inflammation and pain.

Some tips: 1. Follow the directions, if you freeze it with the lid on, it will not come off easily. 2. Freeze the cooler also (keep stick separate), it will insulate even longer, keeping the stick frozen. (I had mine in the hot car for 4.5 hours...still frozen!). 3. Take it with you and ice IMMEDIATELY after your activity for full benefits.

I would recommend this to anyone...in fact, my running buddies always reminded me to bring it so they could use it!

This item is very handy, durable, compact, and pratical. My son has been bringing this along for cross country meets and it insulates the ice for the duration of the meet. I will be bringing this to my daughter's soccer games for emergency purposes.

Insulated travel container is nice. No question that direct icing is the way to go for problem spots. I like this better than the Cryo Cup, because of the insulated travel container.

Comments about Pro-Tec Athletics Ice Up Ice On The Spot Injury Recovery:

Although this product comes with a very handy insulated container, I was somewhat disappointed with the actual ice stick. It was impossible to push the ice up to use after it had been frozen. I had to run it under warm water first, too loosen it enough before using. And the lid for the ice stick froze in place and had to be pride off. Being that you are placing ice directly on your skin, it also melts as you use it, causing a watery mess. Yes, it is effective if you want to put up with these inconveniences.
