Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: I love this shoe for fast and light trail running. The fit and feel is great and the forefoot roll is smooth. Pros

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: I took the shoes out of the box and raced a trail half marathon the next day. It had rained the night before and was still raining at the start. Ankle deep mud most of the way. The shoes were very comfortable and I had no pressure points or hot spots. My only complaint is the traction was not good for the situation I was racing in. In retrospect I would have chosen another shoe to handle the mud better.

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: I was unsure about these shoes because I had not heard of them, and the color just wasn't me. After trying them on I was sold. After giving them a thorough test today on a long, hardcore trail run the verdict is in. These shoes are the bomb! Super comfy soft interior, and spongy but not too much rubber cushion. I have even fallen in love with the color after counting it out early. They look pretty sweet as long as you are wearing some grey or black. I can't wait to go on my next run. Gonna make it longer and more hard core.

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: I run in mostly dirt to rocky trails..excellent cushioning and protection against bruising. Would like to see a little more aggressive sole design. I have run my Peak XC to death and thought I'd try these...a nice but "heavier feeling" shoe, though well made. I run on neutral shoes and this gives me a good neutral feel though it has anti-pronation support. Good for pavement with current sole design. Sole design not so good for wet conditions in hills or pavement.

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: I'm currently training for the ING NYC Marathon and have been using strictly Pearl Izumi running shoes (that include the syncro-fuel, streak and now the syncro-fuel XC). I don't do much trail running but have found it to be an excellent training shoe with a rugged outside that takes on any element from water, dirt, mud and dust (this shoe always looks great and needs very little maintenance). I have to say that the cushioning is great and after a 15 mile tempo run my feet are not aching one bit. I would only offer to you that if you are looking for the same fast result as the syncro-fuel then you are looking at the wrong shoe. If you want to alternate and train in the XC for a 15K or 20K then use the syncro-fuel as your racer then you will feel faster and lighter with great results pain free!!

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: Background - I am an experienced runner, have been running exclusively in trail shoes since 1995. I am 160lbs and train aggressively on trails at a 5-6 minute pace on training runs between 3-5 miles. I run 4-5 times a week. I was running on Brooks Cascadia 3/4 and LOVED those shoes. My only dislike of the Cascadia was the weight and a bit of slop in the heel. The Pearl Izumi synchro is quite simply the best shoe I have ever worn for my type of running. It will do just as well on trail or road. It has a unique heel strike shock absorber which isn't advertised, but it works GREAT. I also bought RRS Support Plus high performance insoles. The combination is perfection. I noticed an immediate increase in performance and decrease in training times when I switched from the Brooks. The shoes have a great natural curve and fit like a glove. The lacing system is superior and the shoes breath easily. They absorb shock without absorbing energy - a perfectly designed balance. I haven't been excited about a pair of running shoes in years, I am excited about these shoes. I'm hoping Pearl Izumi doesn't change the design and screw it up like usually happens just when you find a perfect pair of running shoes.

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: Bought these on a fluke, I usually run in Brooks Cascadias. They fit great and are really light and flexible. They do not have the traction of the Brooks, but they blow the Brooks away on the asphalt. These will be my mixed surface shoes from here on out. I actually just raced a trail 10k, which also had some asphalt and they kicked butt/

Comments about Mens Pearl Izumi syncroFuel XC Trail Running Shoe: I love the fit and feel of the syncroFuel XC, I ran in them twice on mixed terrain to break them in before my trail 10K and the soles seemed to wear really quickly on asphalt/concrete. The 10K was on an aggressive/rugged tail and the shoe did not have the traction to perform well. The shoe still gets 5 stars because it would no doubt shine on a more groomed trail.
