      I especially like these with my road bike shoes. They are the perfect height to cover my ankles with bike tights in the colder weather. They are a bit too short (come up to mid-calf)for my alpine ski boots, but are very similar in weight and cushion to my smartwool socks (which come up to my knees). Also, not at all itchy - overall pearl izumi has pulled off a very similar sock to smartwool and they are an excellent purchase.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
