Happily signed up for VIP, used it often enough to get my money's worth, I guess. I didn't realize auto-renew was in effect, which was my fault, but I would have liked to know how much renewal was going to cost me. Wow. RRS has a good deal going for themselves: Now that I've paid [$] just to be VIP, you bet I'm going to use it by purchasing my running stuff here. Still doesn't seem totally honest.

The bad thing about this program is the automatic renewal on the credit card... with no warning by email first so I can make a decision whether to change the card or renew or not renew. If you buy lots from RRS it's a great deal. Otherwise, not so much.

$20/year is a great deal. I buy at least 4 pair of shoes per year, all my socks, shorts and tops along with bars and the savings really pays off. Plus the 60 day return is unmatched by any other retailer. Well worth the yearly membership fee.

My review is a bit different than most. I signed up for this program and have rarely used it. So I was surprised to see a renewal charge on my credit card. I called the VP Customer Service just a few minutes ago and received excellent service. I was given a choice to continue for a year and have the autopay turned off - or to have my money refunded and cancel my membership.
It's one thing to have great customer service when you are making money, but it's a great company that provides excellent service when someone is cancelling.

I have a strange combination - an extraordinarily high arch with some overpronation - so I need a shoe that offers support and cushioning with mild pronation control. (I must wear custom orthotics in any shoe to adequately support my arch.) My foot is also wide, so I need a wide shoe, especially in the toe box. This shoe fits all my needs! It is comfortable and supportive.

I've read way too many reviews that complain about the surprise $24.99 renewal fee. Is it really that difficult to READ? I thought the description made it abundantly clear what the terms are. I knew that I'd pay $1.99 for the first year, and am totally willing to pay the auto-renewal for $24.99. The benefits you get are well worth the price if you buy shoes even just a few times per year. The 90-day "Wear' em & Love 'em Guarantee" is worth more than what they charge. Most shoe retailers won't accept returns if you've worn them just once.

I loved these shoes from the first run and they fit me perfectly, unlike one of the Asics Cirrus shoes.

I can use these on 10+ mile runs for the weekend long marathon training run with no issues.

I like them so much that I want to get another pair for whenever these wear out.

I hope to run my marathon in these shoes.

These are the best running shoes I have ever worn. I have about 12-15 pairs of running shoes and thus have some idea of how these stack up against the competition. I wish I had known about the Kayano series long ago. I have not worn ASICS in over 15 years. Was not happy with them. I got the Kinetics but did not like the heel strike. Went with the Kayano 17 just to see what it would be like having some cushion around the gel. What a difference. Made for mild over pronators and I have a neutral running style but this shoe paired with my SOLE Dean Karnanze insoles makes the ultimate running shoes at any price. Tried the nimbus and liked them but just not in the same league as these. Comfort performance and constructed to last. What will I do with my other running shoes. The only thing that comes close is the Brooks Trance 10. ASICS is the king and Brooks is the Queen. Absolutely love these shoes.

I LOVE VIP Membership! I was questioning doing this for the longest time and finally did it with my last shoe purchase a month and a half ago. Well... at that time, I purchased shoes that were a half size too big and causing me a lot of pain as a result. Today, I called and they didn't give me any trouble or ask any questions, but quickly worked to get my new shoes, a half-size smaller shipped to me ASAP! I just ship back the bad shoes! Not a scam people, have them explain the benefits and the cost, they tell you it renews annualy and the 1.99 is the price for the first year, that why its called a promotion... if you order 2 pairs of shoes per year, it pays for itself. people who say its a scam are fools who pay for shipping and full cost on their shoes. read the fine print and do the math runners.

This VIP thing is amazing! So my brother has been telling me about Road Runner Sports for a long time now and I usually hate ordering online because I prefer walking into a physical store...but since they don't have one of these stores where I live in Hawai'i, I figured I'd give them a shot. Anyway, I run about 175-250 miles per month, so I go through shoes fairly quickly. I just burned through the latest pair of my favorite all time shoes, the Asics DS Trainer's (the 20's). I was about to order another pair of the shoes, but I noticed version 21 came out. THESE THINGS ARE SUPER HARD TO FIND IN HAWAI'I! Anyway, I love that Asics shoe, but that's the ONLY Asics shoe I like. I'm more of a Mizuno guy for my long distance shoes and trail running shoes. Since Mizuno discontinued my 2nd fav of all time shoe (the Elixer series), I looked up the new replacement to the Elixer, the Mizuno Wave Catalyst.

The DS Trainer 21 runs about $120 and the Wave Catalyst runs about $110. Total of about $240-ish with tax.

Road Runner's VIP program gave me a discount for being a first time buyer, AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY THREW IN A 30% DISCOUNT ON MY ORDER for buying the VIP membership!

I only paid $155 FOR BOTH PAIRS!!!!!!!! With this first purchase, the membership already paid for itself for the next two years! (1.99 for the first year and $26 for the next year)...I saved like $80.

This is perfect because I get to try the new Mizuno shoes since they just came out to see if they measure up against the DS Trainers. If I like them I'll keep 'me, if not, I'll try out a different style thanks to their 90 day test run!

There are very few running stores here in Honolulu, and to be honest, the small mom 'n pop stores are great and all, but they RIP YOU OFF every chance they get! They over price the shoes above retail, and they never accept returns...especially if they're slightly used! It' sucks for someone like me who goes through a ton of shoes and wants to venture out to a new style...if you don't like it, you just wasted a ton of money on a pair of shoes that could end up hurting your feet/legs/running style because of a poor fit. It makes running injury-free very difficult and expensive :/

I am unsure how people feel "tricked" because of the 2nd year. It very clearly states it. But if you know how to online show you could've saved more. I saved $12 just from joining the membership, and found a $15 off $100 coupon, so basically next years membership is already paid for right there, or I can cancel before then and not pay. I don't imagine I will cancel though because I definitely will need new running shoes next year, and I am sure I will buy shoes for other people as well... I mean, why let other people take advantage of the discounts and fast shipping.

My favorite shorts were discontinued, so my boyfriend ordered some as a gift when we saw the inventory said stock was running low in my size, and in fact said "out of stock" after he ordered. A couple days later I noticed my size showed back up with "1 in stock" so I jumped on it, since I could probably afford another pair when I jog regularly. I honestly just signed up for VIP since it saved me $2, ($4 discount minus the $1.99 VIP membership fee), but to my surprise, the shorts I ordered arrived a couple days BEFORE the ones my boyfriend ordered...even though he ordered a couple days before me!
I just need to make sure I remember to cancel my membership before the end of the year, since I see no need to use it in the future.
