I ordered SM (120 pds. 5'5") and thought they fit perfectly. They go about mid thigh. These are not your typical "running shorts" in the length. It has a deep pocket in the back that I can fit 3-4 GUs easily, or even my phone (although I would hesitate about it bouncing around.)
I wore these on an 8 mi run, and absolutely no problems. I also wore them to teach boot camp, and they were breathable, and allowed me to go from a Plank position to "high knees" without riding up. I plan on wearing these shorts at a marathon in a week- I'm hooked!
The only (and I mean ONLY) downside to these shorts is where the design is. The bright Pink color on the side actually made me look "hippy" -and I am not a big girl! My husband actually made a comment about it. So, if you are self-conscious about that area, I might think of a different design.

I bought these for running in the heat. The 6" length is perfect for staying cool without feeling too exposed, and the stripe is a nice change from basic black. So far, the construction seems sturdy and they're wicking nicely. Best of all, they don't ride up when I run.

While they are very comfortable, they do seem to run big. The size small in these feels much roomier than my size small Nike tights, so if you're looking for compression, you may need to order down a size.

My only complaint is that the back pocket is way too roomy. When I put my cell phone in it, it settles midway down my butt (which looks kinda funny). It's an easy fix - just flip the pocket out and sew across where you want the pocket to end, but I'd still prefer shorts where I didn't have to make any modifications!

I have been wearing the previous version of the RRS Velocity 6" compression shorts with the smaller side pocket for several years. They were great shorts, except the pocket was too small for carrying items I wanted with me on a long run or for a marathon or ultra.

These new shorts are a big improvement in my one area of complaint. The pocket in the back is roomy. It holds my cell phone and a Gu packet easily. The material is soft and comfortable. I have only run in them once, but they did not ride up. The fit was great, but these do seem to come just a bit higher on the waist than the previous version.

My husband said he likes the stripe. He said it is a nice change from the plain black.

Hurray RRS, for making a good product even better.

I just wore these shorts for a marathon. The shorts stayed put and didn't ride up at all. The pocket in the back was a good size for GU's and a travel size sun block. They were great. I will be using these shorts all summer.

I got these to wear under skirts so I can ride a bicycle and generally be active. They are absolutely perfect. The exterior is slightly slippery, so they don't stick to the skirt, and they are EXTREMELY comfortable -- no scratchy seams or elastic on the inside. I ordered a medium and a large, and actually they both fit fine.

Wanted an up to date pair of compression shorts and these are great! Fits perfectly; waist band isn't so tight that it buckles or folds, just ran my first 1/2 marathon in them and I'm delighted with their performance! Highly recommend - wish they had more colors!

These are not quite compression fit. I had ordered large initially (to accommodate my larger legs) but found they have no waist, so it gapped a bit because I DO have hips. Moving to mediums, the waist no longer gaps, and thankfully the legs are not too tight. Not so long as bike shorts, but not too short either. They stay comfortably in place and wick very well. All in all a great value.

Love these shorts. I now have 3 pairs. They don't ride up, they're super comfortable, and they hold up to daily washings (wash cold, hang to dry). A really super value.

These are good, basic running shorts. I like the brand in two different lengths. My only criticism is the little RR tabs on pocket zippers come off. Other than that, they're durable and lightweight without being too flimsy thin.

I am new to this style of shorts, so I don't have a lot to compare them to. My only real complaint is that the pocket, while nice and roomy, hangs down in the back so far that it bothers my tush a bit. This is a pretty minor complaint, I realize. And it's certianly nice to have a big pocket. Otherwise, they work well for me.

As for sizing, I weigh 150, am 5'8" and the medium fits me just right. Since my legs are long, though, I think I might prefer the 8" shorts. Compared to the model, the shorts appear much shorter on me than they do on her.

I took these shorts from the bag to a 9 mile run, they felt great, no riding up, no chaffing, no binding on my thighs. It rained on me half way through the run and the shorts did great. They dried fast and stayed comfortable. Best shorts I have found. Highly recommend.
