You'll love the look of the custom reflective print and vibrant contrast-color lining, and be breathin' easy with the perforated back panel offering superior ventilation. Sweat won't cramp your style thanks to this workout jacket's moisture wicking, DRYROAD fabric, and putting a lid on it will be a snap with the hidden hood that stores seamlessly into the collar.
I would go hiking in the winter in my 3-in-1 C olumbia winter ski jacket, but would return home to find the inner layer absolutely soaked with sweat. I needed something to keep me warm, yet would breathe.
I have looked everywhere for a running jacket with zip vents (much like motorcycle jackets have), and this was the only one I found. I want something to keep me warm (arms and hands especially), and keep the wind off, yet can be vented once I begin to warm up/sweat.
So far, I like this. I have only used it once, in 50 degrees, but the vents seemed to keep me cooler/happier than my C olumbia liner alone.
I have not used the hood, so can't speak to the toggles, but I would have no trouble 'mangling' them to work if necessary. It's the feature I care least about.
The thumbhole sleeves are great - a really nice feature. Soft, and smooth, and the tacks seem strong.
I feel like the zipper a) zips on the 'wrong' side, but that's not a huge deal, and b) seems to come up a little bit too high under the chin, even with the zipper garage, but so far, it hasn't been problematic.
I'm hoping the vent zippers keep working well - the vent opening is also the pocket opening (it's all one long slash, two meet-in-middle zippers), and the zippers can sometimes be a little touchy.
But, it was an inexpensive vented lightweight thumbhole-cuff jacket, so I'm pretty happy. (a short pit zip in addition, or even back slash zip vents would have been truly ideal.)
Great if you don't need the hood.
This is a great jacket; comfortable light and stylish. I love that it's feminine without looking girly. The only drawback, and this is only a big one if you live in a rainy climate like I do, the toggle for cinching the hood close is defective.
I purhcased this jacket primarily for running and rowing in the Seattle area. The first day it rained I pulled the hood out and went to tighten the hood and the string pulled right out of the toggle with very little force. I assumed I had just happened to get the one defective one so I went back to the store to exchange it. Just to make sure I tested the toggle on another one in my size at the store and the string pulled out of the toggle on that one too with just the lightest of tugs. I tested another with the same result. It's impossible to fix this without mangling the toggle itself, so that is sadly not an option.
So if you need the hood this may not be the item for you, but if you live in a less wet climate this is a great little jacket.
Great Jacket, But...
This is a great jacket, perfect to run in. It's feminine without being girly. I would have given it 5 starts if not for what would probably be minor defect if I didn't live in an area where it rains all the time. When i went to use the hood for the first time as soon as I pulled the elastic cord to tighten it, it broke pulling the bead off and leaving the cord dangling and in peril of pulling back through the hood. After unsuccessfully trying to thread the cord back into the toggle I went back to the store to exchange it. I tested the cord on the one they had left in my size and that one pulled out of the toggle as well with the gentlest of tugs. I tried the same thing with another size yielding the same result. For me this is a big deal due to the climate where I live, but if you don't need a functional hood then this is the jacket for you.
I have been working out at a gym for years but I am new to running and had begun in the summer during the warmer months. Woke up one morning to 36 F temps and realized I did not have the right clothes for running so I called RRS for advice and was recommended to look at this jacket. It is a great lightweight layer that cuts the wind and gives warmth. I like the sleeve lengthen and thumb holes. Keeps wind from going up the sleeve and adds some warmth for the hands. The front zips open for ventilation when you heat up during the run. I have not used it yet in the very cold temps but it is roomy enough for putting layers under. I am a novice runner but I don't have any negative comments on this jacket.
Chilly no more!
I stopped into a Road Runner store this week and bought this jacket. The woman that helped me, Katherine, was so helpful and friendly. She started to tell me how this jacket has some vents in the front and back which is perfect for running in California and it just so happens that my favorite color was yellow. I'm glad I went with her recommendation because I love the jacket and it's perfect for those days that are just a little too chilly to go out without a jacket. Thanks Katherine!

Finally, the perfect running jacket!
This was the fourth jacket I've tried out, and it's a keeper. It's nice looking, fits well (small for size 6 frame), and has all the features I wanted: stowable hood, mulitple pockets, light weight, thumb holes, and some others. I haven't used it in a heavy rain yet so I can't say how it would stand up to that, but in cool, damp weather, it's been great.
