Men's ROAD RUNNER SPORTS BEST DEFENSE GORE-TEX® JACKET :: Your ultimate protection against nasty weather is here. The men's Road Runner Sports Best Defense Gore-Tex® Jacket is the Cadillac of running jackets. With the Gore-Tex® name comes the security of knowing you'll be completely protected from the worst Mother Nature dishes out. Use the hood when you need it or detach it when you don't. Adjust the fit with a bungee at the hem. If things steam up let out the heat with underarm zip vents. Plenty of pockets and reflectivity.
Features & Benefits:
Two front side zip pockets with storm flaps
One chest pocket with reflective piping
Windproof & waterproof
Covered front zipper with velcro tabs and snap closure
I bought this jacket because I wanted Gore Tex for breathable protection in wind and rain, but with the specialized fit and ventilation needed for running. It delivered on all fronts. I didn't think it looked very stylish in the photo, but I was pleasantly surprise to see that it looks much more stylish in person. In fact, it looks so good I wear it around town too, which I hadn't planned to do when I ordered it. I'm bigger than many runners - 6'3 200 - and it fit me nicely, with enough room for a fleece layer underneath, but not too baggy when not wearing an underlayer. I wouldn't mind having slightly longer sleeves to cover my hands when cold, but the sleeves are perfect for normal purposes, and gloves make more sense anyway. I don't love paying this much for a jacket, but it's the best one of it's type that I've ever owned.

Great Value, Design, and Materials.
This runner's jacket is very comfortable and does what it is supposed to do. In the 5 days I've owned it, I have run in temps in the 40s, 30's, and 20s. I have run in rain, in snow, and in clear, cold conditions. For today's 13.5 mile run, the weather was: "Sunny, 25°, Feels like 13°, 13 mph SSE wind,46% humidity". I was perfectly warm and dry and the jacket was bone dry when I took it off. My experience running in wet weather was equally satifying. If the jacket had a double (two-way) zipper, and if I could figure out how to run cable from the vest pocket through what is obviously an earphone port inside the jacket, I would have given this jacket an unqualified 5 star rating and recommendation. If this jacket proves to be as durable as it appears and if a future model gains the double zipper, I will buy a second one.

Good but last years model was better
Previous model had an inside "Big" zippered pocket for IPod / IPhone , it is now gone---Bad Idea! Current jacket now only has a small outside pocket with zipper for your cell phone. The pocket is too small to easily get your phone in & out, try that with gloves.on--forget about it! On the inside there is a hole to run a cord for ear phones, but try finding the hole in the outside pocket to run your cord through, so the cord goes to the inside ear phone well mark hole. It is next to impossible to find it. RR marketing & manufacturing did a horrible job of eliminating the inside big pocket and made it so hard to use the out side pocket . I love the jacket overall, but I am a big music listener, if you don't listen to music or need a cell phone, this jacket is great.

Did what it was supposed to do.
I don't make a point of running in rainy weather, but every so often will be in it. We had record rainfall this year in Northern Kentucky. I love this jacket because it is the most like my old RRS "Activent" jacket I have been wearing for a long time. It is water resistant and has worked very well for me. I like the velcro closures at the wrist and in front, also the zipped vents on the inside of the arms. I can tell alot of thought went into the design of this jacket, and at sixty three years old feel like I deserve a "Cadillac" jacket at this time.
I would buy this again!
I use this when I do my 2 hr walks in cold weather. It's light weight and there is enough room to add layers underneath. The sleeves are a little long but I bought an extra large and knew that was the case. It's comfortable enough to wear when it's cool or cold outside. The number one reason I bought this jacket is the zipper broke on the RR GORE-TEX jacket I bought in 1986 when I was a runner. If this jacket lasts 25 years I won't have to buy another until I'm 89! This jacket will provide years and years of great use!

Great in the cold
This is a great jacket for cold weather. I ran with it on Christmas Day in 5 degrees in the Minneapolis area with a polypropylene top, a hoodie sweatshirt and this jacket, and was very comfortable for 4 miles. It is windproof in strong winds and the large was large enough for the other aforementioned layers. Even though it costs more, I am happy with this purchase.

my 3rd rrs sports gore-tex jacket
I have had 3 generations of RRS Gore-Tex jackets. I use them for running in the cold ND winters. I will use multiple thin layers underneath depending upon how cold it is. This weekend I did 30 below wind chill and was still warm. This current generation feels bigger to me than the previous versions. I normally wear xl in the top and L in the bottoms and both feel slightly larger. RRS Gore-Tex jackets are the standard that all others try to copy.
My new favorite running jacket!
This jacket was easy to layer underneath. It didn't restrict my motion when running, even during fast intervals on the track. In weather like we've seen this winter, you need an amazing running jacket that will withstand the rain, snow, wind, and bitter cold. This jacket is the best i have ever tried.

Clearly made by runners for runners
This jacket is great. It works in cooler weather and excels in wet. I am most impressed by the length of the sleeves and torso (I am 6'6"), the stylish look, the excellent reflectivity, and the super-adjustable hood. If you run in the rain a lot, like I do in British Columbia, this is the jacket for you.
Couldn't be happier in Canada

Dry even in a downpour
Gave this to my husband, and he rain in pouring rain and stayed totally dry. Somone commented that pockets were too small, but we don't see anything wrong with pockets. Sleeves are too long for my husband, but can be adjusted with velcro, although having an elastic band at wrist might be easier.

It's the jacket I was looking for!
going to have to get sleeves tailored (shorter)
This is the jacket I've been looking for though. Correct material/composition of materials. Correct weight. Great for not sweating up on the cold running days of winter!
Used the product on wet / snowy runs for past two seasons. Zipper no longer functions at all. RRS says two years is too long for any remediation. Bottom line: a lot of money for a jacket that lasts two seasons.
Farmers Almanac says colder winter comin
2013 was the 5th coldest winter in history. Farmers Almanac is predicting a colder winter than last year. I'll be ready with this coat.
I have only used the jacket twice and love it. We'll see how it holds up to the up coming winter.
