Jury's still out. Packed with features, true. Sizing is baggier and and fabric heavier than most running shorts, more like a volley short. Fabric doesn't stick to your legs in rain, but potential for chafe and rubbing on long runs? Reflective strips are miniscule. I bought the blue and it's kind of an odd shade, maybe it's trendy. I did not find the liner too tight.

When they came out around 6-9 months ago the liners were much too tight. Have they addressed the problem?

This is the first short I've ever bought from Road Runner and I'm definitely pleased. Great quality and far cheaper than a pair of Asics or Nike ones.

Purchased a pair 6 months or so ago. Wanted another pair. I really liked the first pair, but this 2nd pair is better. The fabric is lighter and fit is more comfortable than before.

If you have anything closer to a thicker lower body or bigger legs, this is NOT the short for you, as it will ride up on you very very high, making you change your stride or pull it down every 20 steps.

These are excellent. I wear medium and they wear well although I would have preferred them slightly shorter. I've run 2 half-marathons, an 18-miler and quite a lot of training miles with them. No chaffing and they are great in the rain :)

I agree with the previous reviews. I ran a 10 miler this weekend and even with Body Glide, ended up with chafing on the inside of my legs. Save yourself the pain.

I normally wear a large and these were the smallest larges I ever had. Too tight to be able to sit down. Usually the liner material chafes me but this time the tight leg bunching up chafed my inner thig and the wasteband chafed my sides. Gobs of vaseline fixed both problems. Loved the material and the pocket, but these were the most disappointing shorts I have ever purchased from RRS.

The sizing guidance is just plain wrong, completely different in fit and feel than other Men's shorts in the past from RR. The material is nice, but the accents started peeling off with the first wash. The worst value I have ever seen from RR.

I recently bought this new style to replace my several year old RR baggy shorts when the elastic waist finally died. Unfortunately, the inner brief liner on this new 5" Velocity short is extremely tight and uncomfortable, and the extra long legs chafe. I have used RR running shorts for over 20 years, as they have changed fabric and gotten baggier and longer, which has been fine until now - this is the first time they have not gotten it right. Bring the old version back.

Marginally acceptable, but an odd cut -- same complaint as Russ on the rise, and I'm under 5'6". Not nearly as comfortable or as versatile as the RRS 5" Pro Distance baggy short which RRS seems to have discontinued. Please keep the Pro Distance Baggy!

These shorts are awful because the rise is insufficient for anyone over 5'11''. The leg openings are sufficient. If you're ordering a large or extra large you don't expect a rise that's fit for a pygmy's pelvis. These shorts are a total waste of money except for the tiny, and, judging from one of the reviews here, runners who are short, slim and stout-legged. The fit is inadequate and a real departure from RR's previous models int his category.

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are complaining about. I have a 30-32in waist and thick thighs, which makes it challenging to find shorts that fit and look good, and these are wonderful (size SM). I also like the slightly stiffer material - not as flowy as other running shorts.

The liner is way too short. A total re-sizing (downward!) from RRS's other shorts. Who shrinks sizes in shorts sold to Americans? Awful product, after one washing the detailing is peeling off. Very dissapointed long-time VIP customer.
