I've been running in the Saucony Kinvaras for several years now, but when it came to trail shoes, I have been loyal to the Brooks Cascadias for many years. I wanted to go with a lighter shoe, so it only made since to go with the Peregrine 2s, since they are basically a trail version of the Kinvaras.

My first impression of the shoes when I put them on was their weight. Very light (9.9 ounces) compared to the Cascadias. They were a little stiff at first, but that was not unusual. Just like the Kinvaras, it takes several runs to soften them up where they contour to your feet. The upper is made of a very light and airish mesh material. I ran in all types of trail conditions with these and was satisfied with the performance. If you are the type of trail runner that likes to keep your feet dry, then this may not be the shoe for you. As I said, the uppers are mesh, so the lightest touch into the shallowest puddles can leave the bottoms of your feet wet. The upside is, they dry very quickly. The shoes also provided good protection from rocks.

All in all, I am very happy with these shoes. They give me everything I need out of a trail shoes. If you run in cold and snowy conditions, this shoe probably is not for you, but it is great for warm weather trail running.

I was looking for a lighter, more natural shoe and this pair does it all. Enough cushioning, traction and support without the weight.I have a few hundred miles of North Shore mountains with mud, roots, rubber is a little slippery on wet rocks but otherwise great traction, dries quickly.Now running in semi desert with no concerns, a good choice for an minimalist ultra running shoe.Ordering another pair today.

Great fit and feel, very lightweight. I have backed off from over cushioned shoes and the Peregrine seems to be the perfect find!

I bought these for my husband for an extreme trail challenge (SEAL extreme) that we both did and these shoes were a lifesaver! I have the women's version. They are very light, comfortable, and have great traction on ANY type of terrain. Trust me, we tested them on hills that were so steep that you need to place your hands on the ground in front of you to get up them, on a 65-degree incline hill with loose dry dirt that was around .75 mile long, in water, in mud, on wooden obtacles, on extreme down hill runs, wet bridges, you name it......and they held up great, offered great stability to the ground, and were very comfortable. He uses Brooks Glycerin 10 for road running, so these have a similar fit to his feet. These shoes feel lighter though and are equally comfortable on the road. He prefers these shoes over any shoe he has for running now regardless of where he is headed.

These are my favorite trail shoes after running in Adidas most of my life. I wanted something between a true minimal shoe and a regular trail shoe and these have been perfect. I wanted a low heel rise, form fitting shoe, but something that protects me from the sharp rocks where I usually run. I also use the shoes for cross-training in the desert...the shoes work great for all my activities including running, jumping, crab-walks, sprints, etc. I'll be purchasing these over and over as long as they keep making them.
