I use this shoe for speed work and interval training 6x a week however I feel it has enough support for longer runs if that's your intentions. I pair these up with the Asics Gel-Evate (another good shoe)for longer runs.
I like this ride better than the Pure Flow 3 I replaced it with. It has a more road feel, less stiffness, quicker and are overall more comfortable. It's actually perfect for I'm using it for. I run in hot to warm conditions and with the right sock I have had no issues with hot spots or sweating.
I am so impressed with it I am thinking of picking up a pair of the Saucony Guide 7's to throw into the rotation.
I really can't find any faults with this shoe. I have experience no soreness or pain in the days after my training. In the past I was prone to shin splints and various foot problems with other shoes. With these Cortana's and the Asics, I have no issues what so ever.
As I stated in my heading, they are a little pricey - but well worth the money if you are as serious about your training.
I ordered a 1/2 size up and it was perfect.

Comment and compare Apples to Apples
Great cushioning performance shoe! Toe box should be more squared to allow 1st metatarsal flex to be natural, not pushed inward. Big issue as one gets older as it adversely affects gait and stresses the medial ligaments of the knee. Another commented on his pairing with the Asics Gel Evate and Saucony Guide 7. Really? These are very different platforms and the Evate has 2 additional mm of EVA and drop. The Guide is an 8mm drop which is double the Cortana and is a very different design. He also compared the Cortana with Brooks Pure Flow. The Pure series is minimalist. The Cortana is not! The entire Pure series allows the first metatarsal to flex naturally and more easily than the Cortana. In short, his review compares shoes that are very different, thus, all one can take away is his preference. At 5'10" 180lbs, he is heavy for a runner, not for an athlete. Athletes like an array of shoes. Runners like an array of shoes that meet the need and do not vary much in drop as this ensures Achilles health vs. increasing the risk of Achilles injuries.

I used this shoe for about 10 weeks, in which i ran about 450 miles in that time. With that being said, this shoe is extremely durable, and showed no sign of deterioration even after putting in all those miles. However this shoe is clunky. Anything quicker than a 6 min per mile pace and they were dragging. Also this shoe IS TERRIBLE IN WET CONDITIONS. It gets so soggy that the sole scrunches up and shifts out of place. No matter how much i stopped and fixed it, the sole would never stay in place. I tried running without the soles and it was far to hard and uncomfortable. I guess this shoe is ok for long easy runs, and its comfortable for them. Unfortunately these shoes don't look to great either, so these can't be circulated into my daily wardrobe.
GREAT update to a winning shoe!
I have enjoyed the evolution of the Cortana model since launch. This update is fantastic. For us +/-180lbs mid foot strikers, who will not, should not or cannot go to the NEWTON line, and want a cushioned yet lightweight trainer this is a great option. Not only did the shoe get better fit, cushioning all around; but it also lost weight. The forefoot sole section (not the toe box mind you) is also a bit narrower making for a more racer feel without any protection compromises. I really like the snug fit at the collar and lightweight bouncy response I get when i used them through interval training & tempo runs. This version's styling makes no apologies for being in your face...cuz they deliver the goods.
won't run in anything else
As much as I love the Kinvara my body couldn't handle them - I battled continuous injury for the two years I ran in them. After considering going back to Asics I tried the Cortana after reading a review of them. They have been a god send. Great fit, plenty of cushioning and breathability, and lightweight. Highly recommend these to anyone wanting a great long distance runner.
Best Running Shoe ever
I've used lots of different brands before getting this shoes. This is the only brand i will wear moving forward. I am going to purchase a new pair every year moving forward. Great looking shoe. Love the style. I was running in them outside and in the gym and its perfect. Feels good ... very stable and very light.
Cortana 2 out beats the new 3
I currently had the Version 2 which was one of the best shoes I have ever had, However, the Cortana 3 was a let down. They tried to make the shoe lighter and in doing so the shoe lost its integrity. In less then two months my shoe was stretched out and worn.
Perfect shoe so far
I could not be more happier with this new version of the Cortana. I had some durability issues with the uppers on the previous version and hopefully the tweaked uppers on the new version have addressed it. The shoes feel great right out of the box. I'm a forefoot striker and I'm amazed with the cushioning these have relative to weight and flexibility.
The shoe is very lightweight. The first time I tried them on the felt a little snug in the toe box. I was optimistic and went for a 4 miler. The tightness never went away and my toes went numb during the run. I don't want to slam the shoe but if any of the reviews mentioned the narrow fit I would've avoided it.
