I have run in Adidas for years, most recently the Supernova Glide. I was not happy with the latest, so I have been branching out and had some success with Brooks Glycerin. The Kinvara came up when I did the Runners World shoe finder tool. Not sure why it does not come up for me in Shoe Dog, but I gave it a try since I am not training for an event right now. I have high arches, am an over strider, and have wide toes and narrow heels. I run about 25 miles per week right now, on the road, and I weigh 123#. These are unbelievably light weight. The fit is perfect for my wide toes, and I get a nice tight grip at the ankle. I have not gone more than 8 miles in them at a time, but I have no complaints about cushioning. They don't feel overly cushioned - I can feel the road, in a good way - but no pain at all. They feel light as air in the summer heat, and I swear it is easier to get up the hills! Not sure this will ever be a distance trainer for me, but I love them for maintenance running.

So glad I bought these

5

I walk 4-8 miles per day on pavement or sidewalks and was getting foot pain from wearing the very lightweight flexible shoes that are the fad. Decided I needed to go back to a padded running type shoe. These were surprisingly very flexible and lightweight yet have that padding that keeps you from getting hot spots. They are so comfortable you tend to forget you have them on when you get back home. I found them while filling out the search questionnaire for your best shoe. I bought a half size up due to other comments and was glad I did. The shoelace length is perfect (tired of the extra huge bows). They are streamlined and don't look clunky on your feet. No cons so far. I hope they last as long as my other Saucony's!

The minimalist that is more

Love these shoes. I read the reviews before selecting these as my next pair, and most are correct. They run a little small. I normally wear a 6.5 or 7 and got a 7.5. I had the 7 at first, but my toe started wearing a hole in the fabric after 2 months, so I swapped for a bigger size. My first outing (in both pairs) were 5+ miles and they felt great! I have high arches and tend to pronate, so I usually wear arch support insoles. I did not get inserts for this pair have been wearing these for 3 months now (averaging 15-20 miles a week) and have not had a problem! I use these for both gym workouts, road running and trail running!

Much better than earlier versions!

4

I tried the first version of the Kinvara and did not like them at all - I felt the road way too much. I switched to the Nike Free but when they upgraded these not to my liking, after reading the reviews for the new improved Kinvara, I thought I would try it. I have a normal arch and they feel great even though they are supposed to be for high arches. I used to order a full size up from my every day shoe but these are fine 1/2 size up. The only thing is that they seem to be wearing fast on the heel. Otherwise, I think it is a great shoe and it might make me go back to my Saucony loyalty.

Saucony for Life!!

5

I am a HUGE fan of the Saucony Kinvara family. My first pair was the Kinvara 3. When the Kinvara 4 came I had to have. My Kinvara 3 was no where needing replacing but they are such good running shoes I couldn't live with out them. I only have one bad to say about them. They are not good every day walking shoes. I wore to Disneyland once and they hurt my feet. But for an every day running they are great. They are very light and not much weight to them at all. I did buy after market inserts for them and that made them even better.

AWESOME

5

I researched this website to get a recommendation for some new running shoes, and I found the PERFECT pair in these Saucony Kinvara 4's!! I have been a Brooks fan for the past 5 years or so, but once the Brooks announced they weren't making the Launch anymore, I tried the Ghost and Glycerin and didn't really love them, so I searched for a new-to-me brand. Right when I tried the Saucony Kinvara 4's on, I knew they were perfect, and the closest (if not better) than my beloved Brooks Launch shoes. I'm going to buy a couple more pair, in case this brand/style goes away too :-)

Very light weight and minimal

4

These are a VERY minimal shoe. I run a lot in Newtons and these feel considerably more minimal. I am a high arched neutral runner until I get beyond 6-10 miles. Beyond that distance, my left foot starts to pronate and I need a bit more support. When I first put them on my feet they felt like bedroom slippers and I was immediately struck by how open and light the upper felt. I have worn these for several 5K races and for intervals. I think they would be too light for anything beyond a 10K for me but those who need very little support would probably find these very comfortable.

AWESOME and FAST!

5

I bought these to replace Brooks Pureflows. I needed a neutral lightweight shoe that is comfortable, works great with my orthotics and doesn't hit pressure points in my foot. I also loved and picked up the Asics Lyte-33s, but found I could run a lot faster in these. I cannot believe I have now gone from an 8:47-9:15 min per miler to a 7:30 min per miler. These feel great and are FAST! I did have to tie the laces different to avoid hitting pressure on certain spots on the top of my feet, but they work like a dream.

They are ok.

I have problems with calluses on the insides of my feet and look for a shoe that is lightweight and offers cushioning. The upper of this shoe is great. It is very breathable and doesn't fit really tight like the Nike Free Runs do, which I like. However, I've had some arch pain, and I'm hoping it's because I just haven't broken them in. The shoe is very lightweight. The price for the amount of comfort and durability offered is a bit much in my opinion. I'm running a 5k race next week, so we'll see how they do.

Not as good as Kinvara 3

3

I loved the Kinvara 3 (comfy, fit perfectly, worked for long runs) so I jumped at the Kinvara 4. Something changed though and they didn't fit the same. My right heel felt perpetually loose and if I tightened the laces too much, my toes would go numb. I've gotten more callusing and my feet are sore after 8 miles. Still good for short runs as long as I keep the laces loose. I still love the lightness and the fun colors, decent price too.

Saucony Got it Right Again!

5

I was VERY disappointed with the Kinvara 3s and tried to change shoes, but alas nothing was as good as my Saucony Kinvara 2s. I had heard through the grapevine that the 4s were coming out and I waited and they are just as awesome as the 2s! Worth the wait although my old 2s are truly ready for the garbage now. You won't be sorry if you get yourself a pair of the Kinvara 4s. My pair is the bright yellow ones and I LOVE THEM!!!

My favorite shoe

5

I have been running in Kinvara's since I decided the vibram's or other barefoot shoes weren't for me. I don't think I will ever run in trainer's again. I have 3 pairs of Kinvara's right now and run in them from everything from speed work to a marathon. I don't get the injuries I had with the trainers. For reference, I am a 42 year old female with high arches, neutral gait, weigh 115. Just bought a pair for my 12 year old too.

My new favorite running shoe

5

I did 2 five mile runs and then wore them for a 20 miler the weekend After I got these shoes. They felt great! Flexible fore foot, but with enough support through the arch and heel for the longer runs. I did get a small blister on my left heel, but haven't had any issues since that first long run. I plan to wear these for my upcoming marathon in Nocember. The bright color is great for running on the roads too.

Great Update!

5

This shoe is a noticeable improvement on the first two Kinvaras. The sock is light and seamless and so much more comfortable to wear. I feel the sole has been improved and strengthened. This shoe is 1/2 to 1 whole size small, so it is best to try before you buy. You'll be glad you did, and you will enjoy it!

Very Disappointed

1

After one 5 mile run, the tread was already starting to come apart and showing signs of major wear. I also own nike (lunar guide) and have ran in them at least 50 miles and they are not showing they type of tread wear that these showed after 1 run. These are not outdoor running shoes and I think if you ran on them on a treadmill, they would show the same wear. Saucony has really cheapened their materials :-(

Nice shoe

4

I was looking for a minimal drop shoe that would go marathon distance without discomfort. I love a minimal shoe, but I'm a heavy plodder and long distance on the road hurts. This shoe is comfortable, but is very firm. I think I might still like a little more spring in the forefoot than this this shoe has. I think this would feel very fast to a light, efficient runner.

LOVE THESE SHOES!

5

Love these shoes. Light weight and visible (I got the green/yellow ones). These shoes were comfortable from the start and they make my run more comfortable due to the light weight. They don't have a ton of arch support but enough. They also don't have a ton of cushioning but also enough for a comfortable run.

Still my Favorite Sneaker

4

I had several pairs of the first kinvaras and kinvara 2's, never purchased the 3's and now bought the kinvara 4. They are great comparing to the 2's but the cushioning on the back of the shoe is kind of flat..not as soft as the 2's. Overall still a great running shoe. Light and perfect for neutral feet.

My new favorite running shoe!

5

I fell in love with these shoes the second I put them on and I re-fell in love with these shoes the moment I hit the pavement. The shoes are comfortable, durable and lightweight which are perfect for an avid runner like myself. Also, the neon yellow is sure to turn some heads.

Wears out quickly

2

I've been wearing the Kinvara for awhile. My husband first bought the 4 and his started shredding near the pinky toe. He's hard on shoes so I didn't think anything of it until my new pair did the same after less than 200 miles. I can't afford to buy shoes every 200 miles, so I'll be changing brands and models until they change the fabric.

I've had 3 pairs of these and am online to get 4 more while they're on sale! I love the weight of these shoes, I don't feel like I'm running in bricks after 10 miles like other shoes.

Fits great. Lightweight. Felt good right out of the box. Nice flexible shoe but with the right amount of support. First time owing saucony and I think it will be my go to shoe from now on.

I've been wearing these to the gym. They are light weight and very comfortable. The bright colors make me happy. The sizing is consistent with other Saucony shoes that I have.

I love my Kinvara's

A couple years ago I had issues with blisters. Once I started wearing Kinvara's I haven't had ANY issues! I haven't tried the Kinvara 5s but LOVED the 3s and 4s and stocked up!

This shoe was not for me!

3

This shoe was a bad fit for me. The bottom of my feet hurt after 2 miles and it caused me to pronate. The shoe is a good one, but was too wide for my foot.
