The best high mileage trainer I've ever worn. I too have tried ever stability + shoe over the last 8 years and haven't found a shoe with better stability, cushioning and durability. I'm 6'2" 210lb 40+ miles a week depending on what I'm training for and I regularly get in excess of 500 miles on a pair of these. About to load up on several more pair because the Hurricane 10 isn't as stable or cushioned.

These shoes are great shoes. I am 6'1", 185lbs. beginner runner and they work great. As one reviewer mentioned, they do run a half size big. I ordered a 12, but I actually need a 11.5. I have close to 250 miles on them so far, but they are ONLY used for distance running. I recommend them.

From a fit and cushioning perspective this is a good shoe. However, the outsole is terrible. I am a heel striker and after 150 miles the heel is essentially worn out. Too bad as I otherwise love the shoe, but for the cost of this shoe, the durability is horrible. I am 5' 10" 180 pounds.

After 200 miles I can say these shoes feel worn out, lost their cushioning. I would not trust these on long runs any more, but will try to get more wear on shorter runs

I'm into my second pair of these shoes, having put about 600 miles on the first. I don't know why the reviews are bad. I love the shoe and I'm confused as to why they are discontinuing. I alternate between this, the Tangent and an ASICS trail shoe, but this is my primary shoe. I put about 60 miles a week in and can't think of a better shoe. My only complaint is that this is heavier than previous versions, but maybe I'm becoming spoiled by the Tangent

These shoes are NOT true to size. They are bigger than normal shoes and the toe box is wider. I am wondering which idiot on this web-site said this shoe was true to size? If ordering I would suggest a half size down if anything.

Having worn Saucony for over 20 years, this shoe is one I can say did not hit the mark. The 9 is a cumbersome shoe with a seemingly soft underfoot. Two runs and both ending with tender soles ....... not for me. Hurricane 7, I had two pairs and will now buy a third.

I have had these shoes for about three months and have about 250-300 miles on them and they are shot. They were okay right out of the box but the cushioning and soles did not hold up well. I would not buy them again. I normally run in ASIC 2100 series and the Nimbus and they fit and hold up much better.

It's no wonder this shoe is endangered---it's a lousy fit. I bought the Saucony originally on the strength of the current reviews---4.4 out of 5 was impressive. I'd been running in New Balance (998's) and was put off by the reviews on the NB992's. I was concerned that I had to go a half-size higher as in my class (size 12) they don't increment by halves. The 13's arrived and at first seemed alright. However, I soon developed a sore ball-of-the-foot and my arches were tender. I tried every orthotic I had and nothing releaved the problem. I was ultimately forced to go back to the tried and true New Balance (998's) I had been using. I quickly ordered the NB992's (in true fit size 12) and have been totally satisfied. I recently used the Saucony as street shoes hoping to salvage something out of the cost, and the pain at the end of the day put me out of running for two days. The Saucony are back in the box and sitting in the garage. There not even good for garden shoes now.

I've run in these shoes 200-300 miles now over the last couple of months. For the last few years I've ran in Asics Kayano's (X, XIs). There are several differences from the Kayanos. Overall the heel-to-toe off is smooth, and the shoe handles speed pretty well, if you over stride the heel cushioning is very good. The cushioning in general is good. The toe box is wider than any shoe I've ran in. The heel is very stiff, narrow, and structured. I've not had any problem with this, but it definately is a change from the Kayanos. Seems like this might give some extra stability. These shoes are definately Stability+ very close to Motion Control. The Arch Lock is serious, I developed blisters on my instep (I pronate a little). It has taken me 200 miles to feel like these shoes are broken in, and for my feet to get used to the different support. Overall these are good shoes, though I may try the Kayano XIV when they come out. They are not the best S+ shoe ever but possibly the best out

I've run on every Hurricane model that Saucony has made and these are the first version I just couldn't live with. I thougth I got a defective pair the first time and tried another but with the same results. I could feel the structure of the footbed under the insole especially under the ball of my feet and big toes, and they felt very stiff. I was really disappointed after readng so many positive reviews. I'm glad Saucony had already discontinued the 9.

Love the shoe, will probably buy more, HOWEVER...(uh oh !)...I bought two pair 5 months +/- ago to "rotate". Now both pair are pretty broken down on the outside of both heel areas. In other words, outside "heel strike" cushion is gone / yellow foam seems premanently compressed. My stats = 6'2", 200+/- lbs., yes, chronic outside heel strike.... Anybody else have this going on ? Having said the above, while the "cush" lasts, these shoes are GREAT ! In fact, am buying another pair from RRS this afternoon.

5'11" 195 lbs Body Fat- Higher than it should be... Tried the Nike Equalon 2 which gave me blisters. Switched to these and love them. Great cushion and a nice roomy toe box. I put in a pair of the RR cushion insoles as well which made them even better. They are a little heavy, but then again, so am I. The look great to in University of Michigan colors!

I had the 7's and thought they were good, but the 9's are great. These are by far the best shoes ever - like running on a cloud. I looked on this site for reviews and picked this shoe over the Asics based on the scores and feedback. Almost everyone loved this shoe and at least half of the people hated the new Asics. Check the ratings for yourself.

I am 206llb age 47 -have a slight degeneration problem of the left meniscus ( no tears ) . I have been using the Kayano 13 /12 11 for years and finally decided to try a stability plus shoe . Purely based on the reviews I figured I would try these out . They are not only a terrfic shoe but I have really noticed a difference in how the knee reacts hours after a five or six mile run ( i run around 15 to 20 per week ) , not as stiff and feels much better overall . I wish I had switched sooner . Great change up for me . Aloha DC

I think these are barely Stability +. Probably at the higher end of the stability category. I love these shoes. Lots of cushion which my feet seem to like now as I recover from PF. Also, these have a higher heel than some of its competitors . . . which I like, some will not. Very good fit. Too long of laces, but that is not that uncommon. Good wide forefoot and plenty of room in the arch if you are tall or wide there.

I have to say that i do think this shoe is great if you only need a stability +. I was coming down from the beasts because i have been running in them with my custom orthotics. People said i can go to a less of a control shoe even a neutral. So i was scared and only dropped to the next level of support (stability +). I ran a mile in these with my orhtotics and BAMN next days my shins where soar. They feel great and the cushion is very soft and the ride was bouncy but not for me. If i didnt get shin pain i would have kept these as they feel very comfortable to run in. Im 5'9 204lbs serious overpronator with semi normal to flat feet.

6'1" 185lbs. 15-20 miles a week. These shoes have been terrific. I am coming off a heel injury from too much running last year and need a lot of cushioning. These shoes do the trick. I was also impressed with the online help I got from RRS. The chat feature worked great! I ended up with these shoes. My only complaint would be that I'm thinking I need to get another pair as my feet are starting to tire a bit after only two months of running in these shoes. I probably have less than 150 miles on them. Better safe than sorry though

This is the first Saucony Hurricane I have tried. Coming form Mizuno Renegade's (2 pair), I was very, very pleased with the cushioning and lightweight nature of these shoes. The fit was good, the Stability+ provided enough pronation control, while providing exceptional cushioning. I definitely recommend this shoe to my fellow flat-footed friends..

Fri, June 15,2007:
I would have given these a five but the toe box is a bit on the wide side so there is more foot movement than I like. I have had to add a flat insole in additon to the insole that was included just to take up the excess space. Also, they are indeed very cushioned-almost too much so. There is a balance between cushioned and firm and these tip over that balance (for me). An overly cushioned shoe will not only absorb the shock of landing but will also absorb the energy needed to propel oneself making it actually harder (forcing you to use more energy)to run. My baseline shoe is the Brooks Radius. They do it right. They are a really well made shoe much better then the Asics Kayanos 13s (last year's model) that they replaced. Will I purchase this shoe again? More than likely, yes.

I am 6'2" 175# normal arch.I ran in the 7(favorite) and 8(heel 2 firm). This version is better than the 8 definately. The heel in this shoe to me is the best of the 3 in fit and perfect in the amount of stability, but the forefoot has very little cushion. I am going to try with different inserts, hope they don't ruin the heel!

I am a Physician and a Former Member of the US Track and Field Team; 1. H9 are the best shoes on the market. 2. H8 were pure s**t. 3. H7 We awesome and once a RRS classic but as usual RRS muffed that one up. I formerly ran for 15 years is Asic Kayano's but went to Saucony after they discontinued the Kayano 9 that my friends was last quality shoe that Asics manufactured. Happy Running! See on the road.

I have been in New Balance for 15 years because they were the first to have wide widths but the 992 is so poorly reviewed I decided to switch from the 991 to this shoe. Many years ago I used the Saucony shadow and I recall that this was a good shoe. Well the porgird hurricane 9 is the most stable comfortable shoe I have run in in years. It blows away my 991's. The shock absorption is superior and it looks very nice.

I trained for the Army 10-Miler in the 7s, so I figured the 8s would be good too. Not so much, but I wanted to give Saucony a seond chance, so I tried the 9s when I started training for this year's 10-Miler, and I love them. The cushioning is great, and my feet and legs aren't sore, even after I finish a long run.

This is the BEST shoe I have ever worn, and am in ecstasy ever since my first run!! I have been an active runner for years, and a devoted Asics fan until the changes in the Kayano that have ruined the shoe. After two conversations with online reps from RRS, I decided to give the Hurricane 9 a try, and could not be happier. The "impossible" has happened... I have switched from Asics, which I never thought could happen. This shoe puts a spring in my stride, and makes me not even want to stop running... it is the product of amazing technology.

The Hurricane 8 is a very well constructed shoe, reasonably light, superb cushioning, and well priced. However, for my foot type, the Hurricane 8 fits way wide. I have a normal to slightly narrow foot and the 8's are far too voluminous in both the heel pocket and in the toebox. For a runner with a wider foot, I could see these shoes as being a great choice. For a narrower foot, best to try another shoe.

I just got my Hurricane 9's a week ago and I am getting my 2nd pair today. These shoes are awesome. The most cushion I have ever had out of a Hurricane and I've been through them all good (H5 & H7) and bad (H6 & H8). I even thought about going to the Nimbus after the H8, but they were too narrow for me and I'm so glad I stuck with it.

I was very skeptical about this shoe since I loved the Hurricane 7, but wasnt crazy about the Hurricane 8. This is BY FAR the best Hurricane I have ever run in. I had even picked up a pair of the new Kayano 13's, but the fit on the Hurricanes blow the Asics out of the water. My new favorite shoe!
