Comments about Womens Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 Running Shoe:

Saucony has developed the perfect shoe, IMHO. I've been wearing the Guide for several years now and was skeptical about the design change. But the shoe has an incredibly smooth ride! I was told to allow break-in time, that my Achilles and calves might get tight during the adjustment, but I'm thinking this applies primarily to heel strikers because I haven't had any discomfort at all (I'm a midfoot striker, and the new design promotes midfoot strike).

Comments about Womens Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 Running Shoe:

Loved the Guide 3's but they finally wore out on me. Purchased the 5's, what a downgrade. It's too bad, I really liked my Guide 3's. Toebox is off & heel has dropped, don't like the change, hope Saucony will go back to making great shoes, sigh. Had to switch brands for now.

Comments about Womens Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 Running Shoe:

As someone who has run in Saucony shoes for over 15 years, this new model was an unwelcome change. The ride of the shoe has completely changed with the new lower heel to toe drop and there is less cushioning. I feel like I'm landing flat on my feet without any cushioning and there is less of a natural forward foot roll/push off. With similar changes made to Saucony's top 3 shoes, I'm now having to look for a replacement as this new change is very uncomfortable to me when I run.

                Pavement/Road Running

Love, Love, Love the Light weight of this sneaker.

I don't like that the tongue gravitates toward the side of my foot as I'm running.

The stitching is coming apart at the Toe box on one sneaker.

While your running the toe box folds over "crinkles" and stabs your big toe, after a mile it goes away and leaves no blisters as a result.

If your use to a sneaker that has a higher heel, your going to need to slowly work your way into this sneaker due to the lower heel.

Wish it were just a tad more flexible but, its manageable as it is.

Overall, I like this sneaker and will purchase a second pair in Wide !

In the past, I've had ankle pain due to over pronating This shoe has alleviated that problem. It's a very durable product. I have to keep track of the number of miles I run in each pair, because the shoe shows very little wear and tear on the outside.

I am a personal trainer and on my feet 13 hours a day non stop. Also I'm a fitness instructor, occassional jogger and play sports on a court. These shoes allow me to do it ALL without fail. No other shoe has allowed me to stand on my feet all day long without pain, move laterally for my sports, AND jog. It is my favorite shoe ever. I hope hope hope they do not change this shoe.

I run between 25-30 miles a week, sometimes more on some dirt trails, but mostly pavement. I love the fit of this shoe. I get a wide, even though I don't truly have a wide foot, but it gives me more room across the top--where I need it because of bunions, but the shoe is not too big in the heel or elsewhere where my foot is average to narrow--a major plus. Lke the weight and the comfort. I don't have to get used to this shoe. Just put it on and go! This shoe generally lasts me four months with my mileage, which seems about right. I got a close out sale, so that makes this shoe all the sweeter!!!!

I really enjoy this shoe. I also wore the pro grid guide 3 and 4 before this. It is an adjustment if you are a heel striker and have to adjust to this shoe that encourages the mid foot strike. I did feel that at first my quads and knees were having to work harder. I do feel this is probably best, though, to improve my overall running form. I have used this shoe for a half marathon. It is lighter than the guide 4 or three. Saucony has plenty of toe room, which is key for me. Also, it allows for support to help with my mild pronation issues. I also have a high arch. Be sure to order 1/2 size up from street shoes.

Ive been wearing saucony for 15+ years. In the past few years I have been wearing strictly the Guides. I have always loved wearing them, they felt cushioned and I always felt a ton of support. I have especially liked the Guide 4, and i always have 2 pairs, one for work and one for running. Recently I moved up into the Guide 5's, and what a disappointment!!! Everything i liked about the 4 is gone. I hate the way the shoe feels on my feet. I feel the support is gone, my feet hurt and my legs are even hurting now. Im so upset. Im not sure I even want to spend the money and try the Guide 6 since the 5 is so bad. I may need to look into a new brand

I have been running in ProGrid Guides for a few years. This model is wider in the the toe box and seems longer as well. I've also had a hard time adjusting the laces to the proper tightness -they are stretchy. I replaced them w/ other laces which are better.

I love Saucony's but these were not the quality I'm used to. I have to admit that sometimes sneakers feel too light for me and I don't trust running in them. These don't feel stable - there's no real suppport and they don't assist my run like other models.

Good shoe for over pronators. I found it had too much support after going from Asics 2160. I needed the added cushioning from the Asics.

I cannot recommend these shoes enough. I am so happy with them! They allow you to stay on your midfoot through the strike and have a great toe-off because of the relatively firm outsole. Yet, they are also cushy enough for comfort through the run and are my go-to long run shoe. They are better than any other I've tried for that purpose.

Comments about Womens Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 Running Shoe:

I had the progrid guide 5 before, but not from RRsports. The first time I bought them, I had to adjust to them and got a chafing on the ankle. Still, I did adjust over time and really like them. lighter weight than the guide 4 and comfort and cushioning. Today,I wore my new ones, did 6 miles without any issues at all!!! total comfort right away. I'm a Saucony fan, though I found the Hurricanes way too heavy. But I love the progrid line and this shoe was exactly the way a running shoe should be; no adjustment period--which I find generally true for Saucony. I normally wear an 8 1/2 dress shoe, but buy my running shoes a 1/2 size up and in wide because of bunions. This gives me a bit of roominess, which I prefer. I don't see extra room as a negative. Even though I went up a half size, the shoe doesn't slip at all around the heel, which is great because even though don't have a wide foot, I need and like the toebox room. I run an average of 25-30 miles per week and these shoes make it to the 3 month mark really well. (just to note, I also wear an orthotic, so that calls for extra room.)
I do find that I have to tie the shoe tight in order for it to conform to my foot, since I have small ankles, but it's very doable. I agree w/the reviewer who said the laces are too long, but that's a small issue. Wouldn't mind though if a shorter pair of laces were included......Overall a great shoe!

Comments about Womens Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 Running Shoe:

Like many of the other reviews, I had about four pairs of the Ride before making the transition to the Guide 5 in order to try out the lower heel to toe ratio. At first I was skeptical because I was getting a lot of ankle/Achilles Tendon pain due to the change in heel height. After about a month of transition, I was able to run in these shoes pain free and I am now up to 25 miles a week. Now, I absolutely love them. Not only is it a great shoe on the road and the beach, but it is also a great shoe to start the transition from heel striker to mid-foot striker. Just take the transition slow and back off if you start to get Achilles pain. The only compliant I have...the shoelaces are a little too long. Otherwise an outstanding shoe!!!

This is my second pair of ProGrid Guides. I overpronate and suffered from horrible shin splints in the past. After switching to these sneakers I don't have any more pain. I also love how durable the shoe is. I use it off road as well and unlike Asics that I have owned in the past, the upper did not wear away. I highly recommend these sneakers to anyone who is looking for a light weight shoe that helps with overpronation.

Comments about Womens Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 Running Shoe:

My previous shoe was a Guide 3 and I loved everything except wanted a slightly lower heel, believing that the shin pain I was having might be relieved by that change. I was so excited to find out they did just that with the Guide 5 which would make it the perfect running shoe for me.
It did, in fact, solve all my shin problems. From my first day in my Guide 5 shoes, I've never had as single moment of shin pain. Other improvements are that the shoe is lighter and the laces have more stretch to them and don't come untied as often.
However, from my first run I've had achiles and other ankle pains. They were minor and expected with the change in shoes from what I read, so I've run through them and after a month or so the pain got significantly better. But now they've come back and are getting far worse. I give the shoes 4 stars because I HAVE increased mileage (25 per week) and they feel great otherwise, but I do think the pain is at least in part due to the shoes. Also, I do have the same problem as another commenter with the tongue sliding to the outside of my foot during runs. VERY annoying.

Ugh! I've been running in the Guide 3's for a while now. Needed a new pair of shoes so I ordered the 5's because the 3's have been discontinued. I ordered a 9.5B (my usual size) and when I put them on I felt like I was wearing clown shoes. The toe box is HUGE! I just don't get it. I wasn't able to lace them tightly enough to make them workable for me. I'm returning them and am going to try the Nike Structure 15. I used to run in Nikes and am hoping my feet will grow to love them once more. Ugh! Very disappointed with these...

I had been running in Guide 3's for years and loved them. Decided to try to the new Guide 5's. The toe box/forefoot feels much wider than I'm used to, and at first I felt like I was running in clown shoes. After 4 runs, I'm used to them now, but I don't know why they widened the toe box area. I'm not crazy about them but will keep running in them.
