I have always worn Nike as they have a wide toe box, which I love. I have also always purchased all of my shoes online however made the trip into the store to purchase a new pair of shoes. I tried on many different brands and settled on the Saucony. My first run in these shoes I had an "Oh no, what was I thinking? I miss my Nike." thought and wanted to return them. My second run, I was in heaven and am now in love. I am a woman with a big frame, running 5 miles 2 or 3 times a week. These shoes support me and I have been running pain free since I purchased them.

I have ran in hurricanes for years -- my first pair of hurricanes was the 10 series. Year after year, I would order the newer version with no issue (I run about 1 marathon/year and then retire beat up shoes to become my gym shoes). This year that all changed. According to my local running store, Saucony dropped the heel by 4cms, which makes the arch support feel negligible at best. The shoe feels worse than my old sneakers. I reordered the 13s to test them out side by side and the 14s are going back. After loyally wearing hurricanes year after year, my next marathon will be my last in them. These shoes have great cushioning and good stability. There was no need to break them in, I just put them on straight out of the box and went for a run. Saucony did an excellent job with these Hurricanes!

Wow, thought it was just me, have been running in Hurricane's for at least 10 years and have been happy to spend the extra money for them, until now. Change in shoe is severe, I feel like I am learning how to run all over again. Am having pain in the top of my foot which I've never had before. Had to go up to size 8 from 7.5 and I wear a 6 dress shoe. What happened to "if it's not broke don't fix it!" It is now an effort to run and wonder if I need to say "goodby" to Saucony.

ok... I hate writing poor reviews and never imagined I would be writing one about Saucony. However, I unfortunately think that their decision to take the Hurricane in the direction of minimalist ride was a mistake... I have a personal training business, run up to 25 miles a week and have been running in Hurricanes since approximately 97'. Unfortunately, when Saucony changed the design with the Hurricane 14, I have not been able to wear them and have been struggling to find a shoe comparable to the shoe that worked for me.. ..I used to feel like the shoe was a part of me , never noticing the shoes and allowing me to do the distance with ease.. Running in the 14, not only did I notice I was wearing shoes but so did my joints.. Wish Saucony would keep in mind that barefoot running is not for everyone... Just like there are different running techniques, there should still remain individualistic shoes. Keep your new model and offer the old as well... Simple!

I have owned 3 pairs of the Hurricane 14 and I run 40+ miles a week. I went from having calf and arch problems to absolutely no issues. They fit perfectly snug around my foot without cutting into my instep when tied tightly. The heel does not slip either. I find the 8mm heel drop ideal and I had no trouble acclimating to it. I decided to switch to another shoe since the mesh near my little toe kept ripping after only 150 miles (the only negative). Boy, do I regret that decision. After trying 3-4 other styles/brands of shoes and having more calf issues, I am back to wearing the Hurricane 14 again. So sad that this model is being retired.

I've worn the Hurricane since it first came out, maybe 20 years ago. Some models have been better than others, but they kept me injury-free through marathons, trail runs, & up to 100 miles weekly. I bought the shoe for the narrow heel, wide forefoot, support & cushioning. Saucony stupidly changed the fit about 3 models ago; they widened the heel & made the forefoot narrower. The last 3 models, my heel has worn a hole in the back lining within 100 miles -- so the plastic heel support wore holes in my heels. Now they do an even more extreme makeover that just doesn't work. I've worn this model 5 days & I have a strained achilles from the severe drop in heel height, aching joints from the loss of cushioning, & bleeding heels from rubbing the back. I can't even run. Why did Saucony try to turn their most solid running shoe into a barefoot shoe? Maybe I can use them for gardening... Bring back the classic fit from a decade ago!!!

I use these in the gym and on the stairmaster because I have found that running shoes have the best support. I buy these shoes again and again and again. They last me bout six months. Stock up before the next model comes out in february

I wore the Saucony Hurricane years ago and then was told I should use a motion control shoe. Lately motion control seems like too much, so I switched back to the Hurricane. Great shoe. Still has a wide toe box, narrow heel (so it doesn't slip off) and great support. I can't compare it to recent models but I'm glad I tried it again.

I'm on my second pair. I had loved the 12, but I really like the lighter weight of this update. I lace them tightly (using all the holes at the top) for great arch support. I changed my form (faster cadence, shorter stride) to land more midfoot, more on the balls of my feet, which ended my chronic shin splints. Best part these shoes fit great and my big toes are happy, a rarity for me in running shoes.

I had a bruised and blistered 2nd toe on both feet that wouldn't heal. I had been wearing Asics Gel Kayanos which I loved and had no complaints with. After my toe nail fell off and I started running longer distances, I went up a half size and then another half size again when my toes were still sore. I couldn't believe I needed another half size bigger when finally the sales associate at Road Runner Sports suggested the Saucony Hurricane. He said the higher heel to toe in the Asics might be causing my toe to hit the front of the shoe while I was running. I hadn't planned on buying new shoes but did the 90 day trial and the Hurricanes are great. They are just as comfortable as my Asics and my toes finally healed!!

I have used the Hurricanes for 12 years now. Some models have worked better than others (oh, how I loved the 7s). The 13's got me through two Ironman triathlons plus training. The 14's are terrible. The heel drop is a huge change, the arch just doesn't work anymore. I tried to stock up on the 13's but everyone else must have had the same idea, since you can't find them ANYWHERE now. I don't know what to do next as I have a marathon in 4 weeks and need new shoes and my perfect shoe (the traditional Hurricane) can't be found. Please bring back a more traditional 13. Only good thing is that they lightened up the weight a bit, which the shoe needed.

I agree with others that the constant change among shoe manufacturers is not always what the customer wants. They need to listen to their users more.
With that said, it helps that the heel is indeed lower on the Hurricane 14 because over the past few years I have suffered with chronic calf tightenss because all shoe manufacturers seem to think a high heel is necessary. It is not,in that it can put the calf in an unnatural position. Also, to manufacturers: please quit making the shoes lighter and more flexible. That is not what is needed for a durable training shoe. Some want a stiff shoe. Thanks

I run 25-30 miles a week, on pavement and trails. I didn't find any problem with the shoe on either surface. But, if I ran more demanding trails, I'd buy a different shoe. I underpronate, have an average arch and strike on my midfoot. One thing I found is that the shoe makes my foot go inward, as though it's overpronating, so I feel like it's forcing my foot to go the opposite way it naturally goes. Perhaps that's why I was getting shin splints when running in this shoe.

Overall, I don't like this shoe and I'll never buy it again. I used to use this brand years back and always had shin splints. Little did I know it was the shoe causeing me all the grief!

I give up! I ran in Hurricane 7's for 5 years with zero problems and have really struggled to keep up with Saucony's changes but I have really tried to remain faithful. I run about 30 miles a week staying half-marathon ready. I am a heavier, slower runner and need the support. The 13's were not too bad after problems with the previous versions, but these...geez, after only 1.5 weeks, I have hot spots in the balls of both feet with numbness and plantar faciatis starting on left foot. Today while running one of the local bridges, my ankle had horrible pain on the right foot that stayed with me until the road leveled out. I have read a few reviews that say you need to wait a week or two to adust to the new lower height, but this was focused on shin and calf, not what I am experiencing. REALLY Saucony? You only have a million models, you had to radically change a strong stability work horse into a performance shoe? I also run in the OMNI because it has retained a footbed closer to the Hurricane 7, but they radically changed that one too. Looks like it is time for me to get off the Saucony bus. Bummer! These shoes will be returned. UGGG! It is so hard to find a new shoe. Think I will try the Nike Zoom Structure Triax, or maybe one of the Adidas shoes.

I used to wear Hurricaines but the last few years I have worn Nike. I started having knee issues and had to change my biomechanics. In order to reduce heel striking, I decided to try the hurricaines again since they reduced the heel drop. They are wonderful! I wondered why I ever left them. I tried to run in my old Nikes and felt like the heel was huge! I need a wide (D) width and these are perfect for me.

Used to only run in Hurricanes until the 10's came around. Shoe completely changed and could not wear them. Tried the intermittent models with no success. Put the 14's on and they fit like a glove. Nicely hugs the heal, nice cushion and the width is great! Perfect for my half- marathon training. Nice to have my hurricanes back!
