    Saucony improves an already excellent shoe! The redesigned upper with "Flex Film" is not only attractive but comfortable, with seamless design. The outsole is redesigned as well, with some bolstering on certain lugs and additional support rubber on the outside lateral edge of the heel assembly. They've also added some foam to the outsole...so while I don't believe there is any additional arch support, you feel more cushion and security in that area. Overall feel is a more cushioned ride but with more stability than the Kinvara 2. Interesting "voodoo" they've achieved, without sacrificing the lightweight nature of the shoe.

    The only con with this shoe is that they've gone away from the "eyelet" lacing to a more traditional approach. I don't care for this, as it's easy to overtighten laces now but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon.

    WARNING! They've corrected the sizing on these shoes. I've been in 12's on this shoe, tried the same size and it was LONG. Went to the 11 1/2 and it's perfect. Compared it to my 12's in the Kinvara 2...same length. Guess someone got the memo. So, if you're used to a certain size in the earlier models, order a half size smaller (or really your "normal" size).

      Just ran the Orange County Marathon in my Kinvara 3's yesterday. It's my first run of over 20 miles in a "minimalist" shoe...and I'm happy to report that they worked very well, even for a marathon! My concerns re/cushioning for a 26 mile race were unfounded, as the Kinvaras provided good cushion (and good road feel) even in the latter stages.

      Now, I'm not going to recommend you go out and run a marathon on these if you haven't adjusted to a low heel rise shoe - but if you have, I recommend it highly. PR'ed the distance by 26 minutes...fast shoe!
