Comments about Mens Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 Running Shoe:

Extremely comfortable shoe. I am sold on it. I've tried other brands and I willstick with these. I do a lot of running and have no complaints about this shoe. This is the third pair I've purchased. The shoes look good even though they have 350-400 miles on each pair. I doubt I'll switch any time soon.

Comments about Mens Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 Running Shoe:

I run in the Ride daily and keep coming back to it because of the discounts. The cushioning is OK but less than previous models, probably thanks to minimalism. Seems to last at least 500 miles before replacement is needed.

I always get Saucony Ride's. This is my 11th pair over five years. I love the shoes as they fit my running style perfectly. However, I thought I was buying a black shoe. This shoe is purple. Oh well, maybe the trails will make them black:)

Comments about Mens Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 Running Shoe:

This is my second review. I was shocked the other day when I looked at the bottom of the shoes. The heel was worn through the black outer sole at the heel strike area and the white mid sole was showing through. This was after only 56 miles of running! Fortunately for me,I have been using neoprene heel taps for many years on all my shoes - they are a must for extending the life of any shoe. The only glue that will hold these heel taps on is Krazy glue, original formula. Nothing else is strong enough. If the heel taps stay on, I will be able to get good use out of this shoe. If you are the type of runner who does not use heel taps or Shoe Goo, or anything, I feel sorry for you if you buy these shoes. I still love the pure comfort afforded by these shoes.

Comments about Mens Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 Running Shoe:

I didn't select these shoes myself after shopping around. I was talked into them by a sales person. In addition, I was also talked into getting a full size larger than my normal size. I was suffering from an uncomfortable injury affecting my right foot just under the outside ankle and extending a forward. The last time I ran prior to buying these new shoes I had to quit just a block from the start due to foot discomfort. It finally dawned on me that my problem was being caused by my old shoes that had either caused my injury and/or prevented my foot from healing. I am talking months here. I had been sold on the concept of buying shoes that were as much like "bare foot" as I could tolerate – light, minimum cushioning, little support, and zero drop. That's why I bought Nike Free 4.0. I was so pleased with them at first. I still think there is something to this and I may try a minimalist shoe sometime in the future. I was amazed at myself for buying new Sacony "retro" shoes - highly cushioned – the kind real runners make fun of as being like "wearing pillows on your feet". I have run 44 miles in them so far. I noticed immediate relief. This morning, I jogged 4 miles with zero pain and in total comfort. I am thrilled to be able to jog again with no discomfort. As for buying a way oversized shoe, it worked out well and no doubt is partly responsible for the total comfort I am experiencing. However, in order to wear an oversized shoe, you must use the rear most eyelets, something you may not ordinarily have to do. Some shoes don't have these extra rear pairs of eyelets. Their function is to keep your foot from sliding forward in an oversized shoe. They work well. However, because I must use these far rear eyelets, I became aware of a design defect in these shoes – the tongue is too short. When putting on a shoe, you must grasp the tongue to prevent it from sliding forward and bunching up as your foot goes in. It is difficult to grasp the short tongue. I noticed one reviewer mentioned this as a good thing (nice and short!), but it is actually a design defect, especially if you use all the eyelets. However, it's a defect I can live with. It may have been the same reviewer who said he received compliments ("Hey man, great looking shoes!") If you believe that, call me; I want to sell you some shares in the Brooklyn Bridge!

Comments about Mens Saucony ProGrid Ride 5 Running Shoe:

Big Saucony fan. Long time Kinvara advocate. Run 90% on macadamize country roads. Needed a shoe to for longer training runs. Ride 5 sole lasted no longer than the Kinvara. At 250 miles, forefoot sole worn out. 6'2", 182 lbs. Have a narrow foot. Feet rolled and could feel the insole edge. Shoe toe box not wide enough for an average size foot. Began having heel pain after about 150 miles and I'm not a heel striker. Although the shoe offered more cushion in the beginning...and was great right out of the box...running a half with no foot pain...the shoe crashed early. Seemed to be no more than a jazzed-up Kinvara. At first the shoe was good for longer, slow and/or tempo runs...but within less than seven or eight outings...the feet started to hurt. Not the endurance shoe I was looking for. However, really did like the 8mm drop compared to the Kinvara 4mm.

            Service and delivery comments:

Road Runner Sports customer service was excellent. This shoe came from manufacturer direct and was delayed. RRS customer service shipped different color Ride 5 that was in stock to meet needed due date for destination race trip.
